Merseyside Toy Dog Club        29.9.19

An absolute pleasure to judge BIS at this special Toy Group Open Show and I am grateful to the officers & Committee for the invitation. A superb atmosphere and great sportsmanship amongst the exhibitors. I thought my short-list for BIS was very exciting; all were CC worthy in my opinion and I will follow their careers with interest.

BIS was awarded to Morley & Hitchcock’s Mezrab Red To Talk at Lizlanmor. Impressed immediately with his stunning ‘envelope’ head and wonderful expression. Stares right through you and then gives a little wag of the tail to secure your attention. Loved his overall size and shape. Width right through; front feet wide apart, chest broad, good width of jaw. Picks up heavy and has really good bone. Short level back. Just right for coat in volume, condition and texture – super mane with a defined waist. Moved with a true rolling gait with an air of self-importance so typical of the breed. Looked a picture of health.

For RBIS I chose a flirtatious Bichon puppy, Byrne’s Deizi Miss Velma Dinkly at Eithlynn. One of the joys of judging is when you find a puppy that excites you to the point where it is difficult to disguise your pleasure. This bitch showed her socks off and never stopped smiling and wagging; she is a joy. For breed type she had a well-proportioned head, with the darkest eye and enchanting expression. She has good pigmentation throughout in contrast to her sparkling white coat. Her silhouette was ideal with neck just right length to balance her body which was square in shape. Foot perfect on the move. Impeccable presentation.

BIS 3 was an eye-catching Papillon puppy, Robb’s Gleniren Who’s Your Daddy. Well I guessed who his daddy might be as I loved him as well…..and his Mummy was special too!! What a show off and accomplished performer. Unmistakeable breed type in outline and ideal overall shape. Head is refined and ears are large and fly away. Coat was immaculate with well-developed ear fringes and tail plume for his age. Great personality stamping his feet four square for his handler’s attention. Moved briskly with accurate footfall.

BIS 4 went to an Affenpinscher bitch just two days out of puppy and an absolute cracker. Shennan’s Ashiblack Jinx Johnson has a wonderful head with small, neat ears, dark eyes and tight lipped turn up giving that typical monkey expression. She was so alert and never stopped showing; focussed attitude and tail aloft at all times. Compact in frame. Rough coat developing really well. Parallel away and back and seriously struts her stuff in side gait. Excited to find it was her litter brother that I ‘spotted’ and admired at a recent Ch Show.

BPIS had to go to the Bichon and RBIS to the Papillon. BPIS 3 was a fantastic Coton de Tulear who I thought was very special indeed. Golden’s Happypaws Kiss Me Kate is of an ideal size and her head and body ratios match the standard perfectly. She is at the end of her puppy career and as such her ‘cotton’ coat is very well developed and presented perfectly. Dark eyes and jet black nose. Slight arch to the neck into well laid shoulders and then that distinctive top line rising from withers over loin and falling away over croup. Tail set low. So well-constructed under that coat and therefore sound on the move.

BPIS 4 was a very young Yorkshire Terrier with such a personality and great spirit. Head is small and well proportioned. Dark sparkling eyes and alert expression complimented by his small triangular high set ears. Slight arch to neck. Of ideal size and compact in shape with bang level top line. Coat developing well for age with dark steel blue body coat coming well and rich tans already evident. Moves with so much drive and enthusiasm. Loved the animated performance particularly in side gait just need to curb his enthusiasm coming towards.

Japanese Chins

P (5,1) Two lovely puppies both sharing the same sire who was a favourite of mine. 1st Emmerson’s Sleepyhollow Randolph. Super attitude and quite the show off. Small and dainty. Compact in body. Large dark eyes facing forward and wide apart with shocked expression. Clean mouth with width to jaw, just undershot and tight lips. Coat developing well for age. Very sound with tidy, straight front. BPIB. 2nd Crane’s Cranvarl Ruby Tuesday. Beautiful head and expression. Symmetrical markings and silky coat developing well. Compact in body. Happy to stand and be admired but being a stroppy madam and not wanting to move today.

J (3,0) 1st Emmerson’s Aurelea Wishful Thinking for Ismirelle JW. Super sound and full of breed type. Loved her head and expression. Ears small and high set. Dark eyes facing forward with touch of white showing to give look of astonishment. Silky coat of good length for age. Compact in body. Moves very soundly and makes ideal outline in side gait with accurate foot fall.  BOB. 2nd Holland-Smith’s Miss Dobry Rok at Kirdanchi. Just out of puppy and going through that teenage stage. Larger and longer than the winner but equally as sound. Head and expression appealed and coat is well developed for age. Liked the arch her to neck and proud head carriage.

PG (3,0) 1st Robinson’s Usagi Tsukino De Imperium Auri at Midorchi (imp Rus). Looked a picture stood and in very good coat. Liked her head and expression. Compact and well bodied. Really straight front. Free mover in side gait and sound away and back.  2nd Meadows’ Shamead Ruddy Spitfire. Liked the ear set and expression. Nose a little high. Compact in body with well set tail. Silky coat. Moved well in profile but a little untidy coming towards and turns feet out slightly.

O (2,0) 1st Blore’s Dalehouse Kalua at Movalian. Handsome dog showing good overall balance. Very alert and on his toes – showing a keen interest in the mature ‘lady’ stood next to him. Confident and self assured with good head and expression. Liked the width to his underjaw and eyes set forward and well apart.  2nd Robinson’s Midorchi Make Believe.

Pugs

P (4,1) 1st Taylor’s Bringiton Ming Moon at Taysace. An exciting puppy with a beautiful head and gentle expression. Width right through with large round eyes and small neat ears. Just right for finish on her forehead. So compact in body and in fabulous hard condition. Coat so short with tight curl. Moved really soundly. Will have a bright future I’m sure. 2nd Turnbull’s Eastonite Bewitched by Nicobri. Admired her head qualities with gentle expressive dark eye and small neat ears. Just right for forehead wrinkle. Longer in the back than the winner. Moved well behind going away but not so accurate coming towards.

J (2,0) 1st Hitchcock’s Bobitch Midnight In Georgia. A young bitch who I have admired a number of times before and given her top honours earlier this year in a large entry. Of smaller overall build bit everything is beautifully proportioned and she has such balance. The sweetest expression and good width through her head. Slight arch to her neck which is carried so proudly on the move. Super compact and fit as a flea. Can’t fault her on the move. BOB. 2nd Turnbull’s Eastonite Bewitched by Nicobri.

PG (2,0) 1st Turnbull’s Nicobri Love Me Tender JW. Larger, super sound boy presented in fit condition. Head appealed with wide jaw and open nostril with large dark eye. Would prefer slightly smaller ears. Compact in body. Coat short although lacking contrast with black mask. 2nd Kavanagh’s Flashnik Queen Of Hearts at Marbleton. Makes an attractive outline in profile both stood and on the move. Good finish to forehead. Small neat rose ears and large dark eye. Would like more density to black mask. Short dense pale coat. Would like curl tighter.

O (3,0) 1st Kenyon’s Movalian Love Me Do. Pushed the Junior bitch hard for BOB as she is also a fabulous shape, really cobby and excels on the move. Wonderful gentle expression and so attentive to her handler. Width through with open nostril and large dark round eye. Ears perfectly dropped but could be a fraction smaller for ideal. Slight arch to her neck. Super confirmation which showed on the move. Short coat with trace. Tight curl. Had just lost her underline no doubt following season. 2nd Taylor’s Taysace Amethjyst Gem. Another super bitch with a beautiful head and expression. Shown in immaculate condition with warm pale coat and dense black mask. Compact in body and tight curl. Pushed winner really hard as so much to like but was just flicking a front pastern coming towards today which was deciding factor.

Chinese Crested

P (2,0) 1st Ousbey’s Shining Star Winning Smile. Going to finish on the larger side as already well grown for his age but of beautiful type. Head well-proportioned with tapered muzzle and black shiny nose. Good pigmentation and the darkest eye. Ears set low and used at all times . Makes a typical shape stood and even better ion the move. Long neck and stands over plenty of ground with straight front and good bend of stifle. Very sound on move. Good crest and ear fringes with clear healthy skin. BPIB

J (2,0) This was a head ache as lots to like about both with winner a better size and a little longer in body. 1st Routledge’s Ynchreeno Twinkle Toes with Pufflepaws. Loved her size and overall shape. Lovely head and expression with ears set low and dark eye. Really focussed on her handler. Straight front and well bent stifle and as such she excels on the move. Really drives with good reach and tail set high and carried well on the move. Good for crest and ear fringes. Plume to tail. BOB. 2nd Laws & Crummey’s Stagedoor Sugar Puff. Presented in first class order with a wonderful veil coat o soft texture. Super head and expression. Slight arch to her neck. Level top line. Very sound on the move. Body more square in shape than the winner.

PG (2,0) 1st Routledge’s Ynchreeno Twinkle Toes with Pufflepaws. 2nd Radclife’s Ooza Poppet. An ideal sized powder puff and appealed for overall shape. Liked her head proportion and dark eye. Ears dropped and with fringes. In double coat but would like softer texture. Moved with drive but wider coming towards.

O (6,2) 1st Routledge’s Tasnim De Sothis Para Pufflepaws. Instantly drawn to her size and overall shape. Makes a typical silhouette stood and excels on the move. Really sound and moves freely with drive and reach in front. Well-proportioned head and ears set well but not using fully today when stood. Eyes dark although could have more almond shape. In very good condition with clear skin.2nd Dowsett’s Ch Doonberg Bete Noir via TTeswood CW12 Jw ShCM VW. As always this powder puff is presented immaculately and is so fit and conditioned for his 10 years young. Super confident temperament and sound as a bell. He’s plenty big enough but has some many virtues he justifiably deserves his many titles.
