I thank the committee of this well organised show for their kind invitation to judge the gundog group and the steward for his excellent organisation of the ring. HUNGARIAN VISZLA – J (1) 1 BP & PG4, Mills’ Karrouki Wildfire, upstanding 9 mth old dog, masculine correctly proportioned head and good reach of neck. Strong in fore chest with good depth of body, and quality bone and unexaggerated rear angulation. Lost his shape at times but this will change with maturity. PG (1) 1 K Wildfire. O (2) 1 BOB & G4, Mills’ Karrouki Windfire, 3 yr old dog of lovely type masculine head and good reach of neck. Sound fore and aft with adequate bone, well turned stifle and sound movement; 2 & RBOB, Barrett’s Karaszy’s Glorious Legacy, 3 yr old dog, very typical and soundly put together but finer, I preferred the movement of 1. LABRADOR RETRIEVER – P (6,1a) 1, BP & PG2, Scutcher’s Winsleywood Wild Daisy, 8 mth old yellow bitch with pretty head and correct bite. Kind expression and good pigmentation. Soundly constructed all through allowing sound movement for one so young. A very promising puppy; 2 Climpson’s Othamcourt Heathcliff, all black dog, with adequate front assembly and nice rear end. Slightly proud of his tail today but very sound moving; 3 Boulden’s Rumhill Starry Night. J (2,1) 1 & BOB, Rees’ Eremos Moment In Time, very typical 13 mth old yellow bitch. Feminine head and good pigmentation. So soundly put together with no exaggeration topped off with free flowing movement and an ever wagging tail; 2 Boulden’s Abbeystead Pageant at Rumhill, 14 mth old masculine black dog with much to like, in good condition and sympathetically handled he could not match the construction of 1. O (3) 1 & RBOB, Autey’s Chadfrith Alcazaba, 2 yr old chocolate dog with masculine head and soft expression. Well put together with excellent fore chest and depth of body he holds his top line stacked and moving. Did not show the animation of BOB in the challenge; 2 Elliott’s Winsleywood Wild Joker of Lyndham, 6 yr old black dog strong head with good reach of neck and adequate angulation. Well shown I preferred the movement of 1 today. NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER – PG (1) 1 & BOB, Newson’s Tivalake Let’s Misbehave, 18 mth old dog of a nice size. Appealing head with correct proportions, eye shape and colour. Well put together all through with lovely coat and in great condition. Must have a bright future, his kennelmate was a distraction to him today. O (1) 1 & RBOB, Newson’s Tivalake More Than Wishes, 4 yr old mature bitch. Pleasing feminine head and adequate neck into soundly constructed body, excelling in fore chest. Sympathetically handled a happy and sound mover. NSC GUNDOG – P (9,1) 1, BP & PG1, Sharp’s Affilato All About Me, Spinone, this puppy demands your attention, at only just over 6 mths she shouts quality. Appealing head with strong neck into a well put together, correctly proportioned body. With her quality bone and correct jacket she is certainly one to watch; 2 Harrison’s Bluesprings Summer Sun, Irish Setter, 9 mth old bitch. Pretty head with good depth of muzzle. Adequate neck in to well put together body with ample fore chest. Positive movement for her age; 3 Murray’s Totem De La Chance. J (6,4) 1 Skippings & Gough’s Pelhamcourt Miss Markle at Nelbells, Am Cocker, 16 mth old black bitch with pretty head and strong neck into soundly made body. In splendid coat and condition she was a positive and stylish mover; 2 Rose’s Braccorions Meant To Be with Piccorino, Bracco bitch just over 12 mths. Pleasing head with strong neck, adequate front assembly and correct hindquarter moved OK. PG (2) 1 Grantham’s Mizani Diora Rose, Lagotto, 19 mth old bitch with correct bite. Very pretty and correctly constructed with positive free movement. Her handler needs to gain confidence to show her to advantage; 2 Wood’s Stormdancer Do Something, Weimaraner, 17 mth old bitch and at the gangly teenage stage at the moment. In good coat and condition, moved at one with her handler. O (9,1) This class was without doubt the best of the day with many quality exhibits I was really spoilt for choice. 1, BNSC & G1, Braine’s Grenetrest Canterbury Bell, GSP, at 17 mths old this bitch really fills your eye. Pleasing in head with strong neck flowing into a very soundly constructed body. With quality bone and in hard condition with correctly shaped tight feet she had free and sound movement. Handled to advantage; 2 & RBNSC, Hazeltine, Crowther & Alcorn’s Hundwith Chortle with Hookwood, Weimaraner, 2 yr old scopey bitch. Feminine head and good reach of neck into well made body with correct depth, quality bone and correct substance. Beautifully handled she was unlucky to meet 1 today; 3 Tye’s Thandiwe Last Tango of Tymora. GUNDOG GROUP – G1 GSP; G2 Woodbridge’s Crackerjanne Penelope Cruz, ESS, 4 year old bitch, full of quality, nice make and shape a positive and sound mover; G3 Welch & Hazeltine’s Pytchley Chasing The Dream for Hookwood, Pointer, 2 year old dog with masculine head he excels in front angulation and moves correctly. Sympathetically handled to advantage; G4 Vizsla. GUNDOG PUPPY GROUP – PG1 Spinone; PG2 Labrador; PG3 Clarke’s Harbethol Look Magic Melody, Cocker, 7 month bitch with square outline and correctly made she moved with drive using her tail. PG4 Vizsla.
