Irish Red & White Setter Club of GB Open Show - 14/10/2019 

Thank you to the club for the invitation to judge the Autumn Show and to the exhibitors for their support. 

VD Entries:3 Abs:1  

1st Walker’s Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch Vanders Va Voom avec Wroxham 11yrs old, just starting to show his age with his white eyebrows. Lovely dark eye, well bent stifle, his correct construction shown in his sound movement. 

2nd Knox’s South Sides Space Oddity at Coolfin (Imp Swe) Built on larger scale. Well boned, not as positive in movement. 

PD Entry:2 Abs:1  

1st Catton & Cook’s Daithi Shadow Dog with Ferngate (Imp Pol) NAF TAF Well grown for his age but will take time for it all to come together. Movement erratic so hard to assess. 

JD Entries:1 Abs:0  

1st Sherlock’s Alanea Special One Developing at the correct pace. Nice dark eye and kind expression. This young dog needs time. Moved well with drive. 

GD Entry:1 Abs:0  

1st Taylor’s Laoirebay Monte Carlo Young dog with typical head and round dark eye, kind expression, level topline and bend of stifle OK. Good feet. Needs to settle on the move. 

PGD Entry:2 Abs:0  

1st Wade’s Oldestone Take A Chance On Me  2 ½ yr old dog who will take some time to mature. Beautiful head, needs to carry a little more weight. Moved well which gave him the class. 

2nd Taylor’s Laoirebay Monte Carlo 

LD Entries:3 Abs:0 

1st Bayne’s Corranroo Casper Mature 6yr old dog of correct size. Good bone and lovely color and condition, A true Red & White Setter. Balanced outline, correct head with correct ear set and nice dark eye. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Level topline, well bent stifle, moved with drive. Pleased to give him Best Dog and Best in Show.  

2nd Hart’s Redmore Diamond Geezer mit Gilliegrae Larger made dog, nice head, kind expression. Not very settled today which made him hard to assess. Moved OK  

3rd Knox’s South Sides Space Oddity at Coolfin (Imp Swe) 

OD Entries:5 Abs:0  

1st Knox & Jakins’ Terne Des Coris Qalimero at Coolfin JW Handsome young dog. Correct shape and size. Lovely Red & White expression with dark round eye. Well laid shoulders, level topline, good spring of rib. Well muscled, moved with drive. Reserve Best Dog. He should have a great future. 

2nd Pilmer’s Anisbrig Tobermory A different type but still a credit to the breed. Beautiful coat and colour, a dog I have always liked. A gentle Setter expression. Well proportioned body, good shoulder set & bend of stifle. Moved well. 

3rd Collins’ Romaunt Bloomin Grand at Forestpoint 

VETERAN BITCH Entries:4 Abs:1  

1st Tong’s Rustasha Raison D’Etre for Kellizlot 7 yr old bitch. True Red and White bitch who I have done well in the past. Kind expression, dark eye, good reach of neck, well laid shoulders, level topline and good bend of stifle. Moved well. Best Veteran in Show 

2nd McDonald’s Ir Sh Ch, Dutch Sh Ch Roanjora Tsarine Tzarina CW17,BWNL 18 Very fit bitch, well muscled, a very close decision between the two. Both good representatives of the breed and many of the attributes are shared by both.  

3rd Ward’s Sh Ch Ballakinnish Mischief Making Copperwhite JW 

PUPPY BITCH Entry:1 Abs:0  

1st Hodgetts’ Alanea Obsession of Hodgehall  A six month old baby. She has a lot of developing to do. She was easy to go over, has a nice level topline and good bend of stifle. Moved well for one so young. I hope she has a bright future. Best Bitch Puppy, Best Puppy in Show  

YEARLING BITCH Entries:5 Abs:0  

1st O'Connor’s Dalcross Dancing Queen with Caispern Typical Red & White Bitch. Good size, pretty head, level topline, adequate bend of stifle, still has a lot of maturing to do which is correct for this age. Moved OK.  

2nd Ward’s Cornadore Bia becomes Copperwhite (Imp Pol) More mature bitch. Would prefer a softer expression but this will change with maturity. Good shoulders, level topline, well spring ribs, well angulated rear. I would like tighter feet. Moved OK 

GRADUATE BITCH Entries:3 Abs:0 

1st Hargreaves’ Ianbro Kamino Sapphire to Forgeway More heavily red but this not a fault. Pretty bitch, a little fine in bone. Correct dark, round eye. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and level topline. Good feet and bend of stifle. Moved well.  

2nd Knapton’s Laoirebay Winter Fern with Rojenste Larger made bitch. Pretty head and good coat developing. Moved OK.  

3rd Hart’s Ianbro Mystic Quartz Shines at Gilliegrae 

POST GRADUATE BITCH Entries:2 Abs:0 

1st Sayer’s Spyefire Yorkshire Lass The fittest dog on the day in hard muscular condition, a credit to the owner. A larger bitch throughout but still retaining a gentle expression. Round dark eye and correct ear set, well laid shoulders and level topline. Good bend of stifle, would like better feet. Moved with drive. Considered for top honours. 

2nd Ward’s Cornadore Bia becomes Copperwhite (Imp Pol) 

LIMIT BITCH Entries:2 Abs:0  

1st McDonald’s Roanjora Montepulciano Feminine bitch, lovely head with dark round eye. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, level top line, good bend of stifle. Moved well with drive. Reserve Best Bitch. 

2nd Ball & Harrison’s Laoirebay She’s Leaving Home to Siorrudh Large bitch, kind expression, not as good bend of stifle as 1. Moved OK. 

OPEN BITCH Entries3 Abs:0  

1st  Bayne’s Sh Ch Corranroo Consort A real Red & White bitch. Lovely size with true setter head, a gentle expression, a dark round eye, correct ear set and length of muzzle. Well placed shoulders, lovely outline standing and held on the move. Feminine but still has sufficient substance. Moved with drive, at one with her handler. Best Bitch, Reserve Best in Show & Best opposite Sex. Just missed out to the dog as not quite as animated on the move in the challenge. 

2nd Walker’s Zendarric It’s A Kind Of Magic within Wroxham JW Another good Red & White bitch with many of the qualities of the winner. She just lost out today on movement 

3rd Hart’s Sh Ch Gilliegrae Swift N’Chic
