Derbyshire County Show 23/06/2019

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge Golden Retrievers at your excellent show. The weather was kind to us, not too hot and the rain held off. Thank you too, to the exhibitors who sportingly accepted my decisions with good grace. I found that mouths were mostly excellent, movement was good over difficult terrain but I hoped that moving everyone over the same ground gave everyone an even chance.

Golden Retrievers

PUPPY 5(0)

1 - Falconer’s Rossgilde My Fair Lady of Siathem - 10 month old bitch puppy with stunning outline and the sweetest of heads with dark pigment round her eyes and nose. Compact, with all her angles in the right place, good forechest and deep in brisket with level topline and well set on tail which she carried level with her back. BPIB

2 - Zubair & Trinder’s Thornywait Cassiopeia Close up to (1) but slightly longer cast. 8 month old bitch puppy who has a lovely head with dark pigmentation, long neck into well laid shoulders, well made forequarters balanced by her rear construction

3 - Meadows’ Merimoor Blattgold

4 - Gunter’s Moorvista Golden Slumbers

JUNIOR 7(2a)

1 - Falconer’s Rossgilde My Fair Lady of Siathem as puppy 1.

2 - Copley’s Monchique Imperial Beau at Emmabe - 13 month old dog. Loved his head and expression, slightly longer cast then (1) long neck into well laid shoulder but would prefer more length to upper arm. Absolutely lovely neat cat like feet.

3 - Ledgar’s Jasrolyn Flirting Armani

POST GRADUATE 12 (4a)

1 - Layland’s Applecote Mermaids Kiss - Built on slightly taller lines but still with good substance and balanced outline. Dark pigment round eyes and nose, reachy neck into well laid shoulders, level topline and well set on tail.

2 - Smith’s Goldtinkred Moon River at Rocamoka - A 2 year old bitch of substance, compact, good bone, depth of chest and well ribbed up.

3 - Ledgar’s Jasrolyn Flirting Armani

4 - Hammond’s Merimor Satin Nights

5 - Slack’s Norlis Nordic Princess

LIMIT 9 (1a)

1 - Hammond’s Merimoor Skyeline - Mature bitch. Another one who took my eye - mature , compact with level topline and substantial bone. Excellent angulation with shoulder and upper arm of equal length balanced by bend of stifle and short rear pasterns. RBOB

2 - Carrington’s Largymore Lustre JW - Finer in head than (1) Moderate reach of neck, well laid shoulder and return of upper arm.

3 - Smith’s Nativegold Charismatic at Rocamoka

4 - Gunter’s Kendaamber Rosy Glow

5 - Layland’s Applecote Angel Eyes

OPEN 10(8a)

1 - Mell’s Meloak Lily the Pink - The best mover today with fabulous forward extension driven from behind. Mature bitch, compact, and preferred her level topline to (2), the sweetest of heads with dark pigment and dark eyes, so well made with good substance and deep chest well ribbed up.  Moderate neck into well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm balanced by her well turned stifle and short rear pasterns. I loved her. BOB and I was pleased to see shortlisted in the Gundog group.

2 - Hammond’s Merimoor Waterwytch - Another mature bitch who presents a balanced outline, compact with good lay of shoulder. I would prefer more length to upper arm, however, she has well made hindquarters and reasonable tail carriage.
