GOLDEN RETRIEVER

Puppy (1):

1ST Holbrook, Mrs S & Mrs J, Palmonas Lionheart: A dog of just 9 months of age and at his first show I was given to understand. He was up to size and I wouldn’t want any bigger at this time, good head and expression, dark eye, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulders, chest of good depth and width, quality bone all through, moderate turn of stifle, neat tight feet, moved steadily and soundly. BP and I was delighted to watch him be awarded Puppy Group 4.

Junior (2):

1ST Baxter & Riley, Miss B M & Mr N P, Storrswood Fire Opal Via Bermary: I really liked this young bitch of just 13 months. She was presented very well and presented a balanced outline without exaggeration. Pleasing feminine head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, clean neck into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, chest of good depth and width, well ribbed, short loin, moderate well-muscled hind quarters, very good bone and neat feat moved very well and soundly to win the class but in the challenge for Best of Breed, she was shown with a different handler and ultimately lost out for Reserve Best of Breed.

2ND Tapsell, Mr A, Emperor Jack, A dog of 13 months at his first show together with his handler who was also new to our show world. Of pleasing overall type and balanced but today presented without his full jacket, good head that I hope will refine slightly, correct, clean and complete dentition, clean neck of good length, excellent forehand assembly, deep chest, moderate turn of stifle, moved well but a little close behind.

Post Graduate (2, 1abs):

1ST Youngson, Mrs D A, Linigor Teachers Pet At Treeveville JW: I absolutely loved this bitch of 3 years of age. Presented an extremely well balanced picture and totally free from exaggeration. Beautiful head with correct chiselling beneath her eyes and the softest expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Excels in her forehand construction. Deep in brisket and well ribbed back. Good width to chest. Strong hindquarters. Level topline maintained in movement. Stands square hock to heel with excellent bone and the neatest of feet. Moved well with good forward reach. My pleasure to award her a worthy Best of Breed and I was delighted to watch her win the Gundog Group and I later learned that she was also awarded Reserve Best In Show.

Open (2, 1abs):

1ST Baxter & Riley, Miss B M & Mr N P, Bermary Duke Of Wellington: A 4 year old upstanding male, balanced and not coarse, typical head with dark eye, correct, clean and complete dentition. Strong neck of good length leading into well-placed shoulders, deep chest of good width with well sprung ribs, strong loin, moderate turn of stifle, good second thigh, neat feet moved very well. Reserve Best of Breed.

Pleasing head, expression and eye, ears set low, correct, clean and complete dentition, neck set neatly into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, compact body and well rounded hindquarters and good bend of stifle, nice feet, moved very well. ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL

1ST Glendinning, Ms F, Plaiglen Encore: A very nicely presented bitch of 11 months of age in super condition, very good head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, very good forehand assembly moderate hindquarters, good bone and feet, moved and presented very well.

2ND Willey, Mr K E & Mrs W J, Speeton Sea Grace: Bitch of just 6 months of age, very nice overall type, good head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, well sprung ribs, moderate hindquarters, didn’t have the accuracy on the move of the first exhibit and was giving away a lot in maturity at this stage.

Junior (4):

1ST Jenkinson, Mrs K, Eastriding Royal Mayfair: A very well presented dog of 13 months who for me presented an almost textbook outline of the template that I look for in this breed but for me was a little strong in head but overall well-balanecd in overall outline. Correct, clean and complete dentition, clean, strong neck into good shoulder, good bone deep chest of good width, strong loin moved well.

2ND Willey, Mr K E & Mrs W J, Speeton Sea Captain: A dog of just 6 months, of very good type, excellent quality bone, lovely head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, once he matures and understands what is expected of him I would expect him to have a promising future.

3RD Glendinning, Ms F, Plaiglen Encore

Post Graduate (1):

1ST Clarke, C L, Tigerrock Timmy Tim Tims: A male of just 2 years of age, beautifully presented, not quite the work in the head that I would ideally like for a male, correct, clean and complete dentition, clean neck into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, deep chest of good width, quality bone all through, moved very well driving from the rear.

Open (3):

1ST Gibson, Mrs S & Mr G J, Calvdale Rag Nymph: A 4 year old bitch full of type, so very sound and balanced all through. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Pleasing head of good proportions, foreface of proportionate length to skull, eye of medium size giving kind expression, strong neck leading into well placed shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm, deep chest, muscular loin, broad thighs, stifles and hocks moderately bent. In good coat, moved very well, Best Of Breed

2ND Clarke, C L, Tigerrock Radio Ga Ga: A dog of just 2 years of age, who presented a lovely outline when standing. He just didn’t quite have the definition and work in the head that I was looking for, which was disappointing as he a good example of the breed with many good virtues. Correct, clean and complete dentition, ears that were set in line with the eye, strong muscular neck presented without throatiness, excellent bone all through, deep chest and strong muscular loin, in good coat that was both close and straight. Moved very well with hocks driving well under the body. Reserve Best Of Breed

3RD Willey, Mr K E & Mrs W J, Melverly What Style.

WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL

Puppy (3, 1 abs):

1ST Clarke & Sherlock, Mrs C L & Mrs T, Crimicar She’s Elcetrick With Tigerrock: What an absolutely stunning bitch of just 10 months of age. The very best of heads of correctly proportionate length, soft expression, ears set moderately low, correct, clean and complete mouth and dentition, good lay of shoulder with corresponding return of upper arm, body balanced and proportionate, tight feet with short nails, on the move he showed a ground covering action, being very ‘picky’ she could have made more use of her tail.
