ANGLESEY Premier Open Show 4/5/19

Thank you to The Officers & Committee for inviting me to judge at their first Premier Open Show, also thanks to my 2 very efficient stewards who kept the ring running all day. I was not the scheduled judge for Terriers today but took over as replacement at last minute.

Terrier Group : 1 Jones’s Cynoglon Allow Medi, (Welsh) taller than I prefer but balanced & sound, pleasing in head with well set ears, good neck & in excellent form, crisp furnishings & double coat, good straight front, correct feet, tail well set on & carried, moved soundly fore & aft, well set hocks, alert & showing herself well : 2 Roughton’s La Perla Warbonnet (Bull) feminine & in very hard muscular condition, typical egg shaped head with strong well developed under jaw, powerful neck & good front, well bodied but not over heavy, sound quarters, moving well with ease, tail well carried, compact feet, in excellent coat ; 3 Harrison-Brown’s Eskwyre Carlitos Way (Scottish) male who was pleasing in head shape with correct almond shaped eye, ears well set, moderate in neck & in good body condition, correct textures of coat, deep in chest & ribs well rounded, short in back & tail well set on, deep in thigh & well set hocks, another in good hard muscular condition ; 4 Mclaughlan & Fitzsimmons Wilmit Hawkeye Pierce At Lanleadane (Dandie Dinmont), young male with strong head of correct proportion to his size, bright & round eyes & well set ears, well developed strong neck, his shoulders are well laid back well developed in chest, slight arch over loin, well set tail , today a little short of coat & did not seem to like the flooring & took a while to get into a stride.

Terrier Puppy Group : 1 Mcluaghlan & Fitzsimmons Norma Jeanne Baker Di Luna Caprese At Lanleadane (Dandie Dinmont) quite mature in looks & in very profuse double coat of correct harsh texture with dense undercoat, pleasing in head & eye, ears low set & close to cheeck, well developed in neck, in excellent body shape & has slight arch over her loin, round feet which were well padded, well set quarters & tail of correct shape, moved with confidence & soundly ; 2 Parle’s Cashelrock Ballyhoo (Border) bl/t male, loved his head & desirable short strong muzzle, has a good front & nice body shape, unfortunately carrying a little too much weight today, harsh double coat & correct tail shape & set, neat feet, moved well ; 3 Stuart’s Katilley Back To Basics (Jack Russell) , very raw b, pleasing in head & strong jaw, well set eye & ears, body developing for young age, good front & needs to strengthen in quarters but hope will with age, coat just developing but correct double layers, tail well set on.

Skye T . P. Grad (1) ; 1 & B.O.B. Roberts’s Glorfindel Effort at Sunabil, 2 yr old b, pleasing in feminine size, lovely profile on stack & although moved soundly fore & aft felt she did not like the flooring & was a little reluctant to get into a stride, pleasing in head shape with slight stop & strong in jaw, eyes were of medium size & expressive, prick ears with desired feathering, slight crest of neck leading to correct shoulders, oval in rib & long with short loin, super top line & no exaggerations, loved her balance, strong quarters, in good double coat & tail well set & carried.

Bull T . P. Grad (2-1abs) : 1 & B.O.B. L Perla W

Cairn T . P Grad (1) : 1 Williams’s Corynthean Who Dares Dreams, 2 yr old b, a little unsettled on table but when she moved got her act together, was certainly active, broad in skull with defined stop, strong jaw, well set pointed ears, eyes medium & had desired eyebrows, enough neck & shoulder of medium length, elbows well in to body, deep well sprung in rib & strong in loin, hocks well let down, moved true, excellent double coat of correct textures.

Open (3-1abs) 1 & B.O.B. Williams’s Seevak Country Sunset At Corynthean, similar to previous class winner & I see why as this one is her mother, same notes apply was more together on the move today to take B.O.B. 2 nice typical bitches in excellent condition ; 2 Jones’s Doonrae Luminescent 7 yr old b, has a pleasing head & good eye & ear, in super body & hard muscular condition, showed extremely well, in double coat but coat was not the condition of 1 today, correct feet & tail well set on & carried.

Jack Russell : P. Grad (2) ; 1 K Back To B ; 2 Stuart’s Kaszavolgyri-furge Lucky, very raw young male, pleasing head shape with good eye & expression, well set ears, very raw in body development yet, prefer front of 1, double coat, good feet.

Open (1) : 1 Vaughan’s Sweet Rose of Melfon 3 yr old b of different type to other two today, good head but ears flying a little high, strong in body & dense undercoat & fine but harsh top coat, good feet, moved soundly, tail well set on & carried.

Kerry Blue : Open (1) ; 1 & B.O.B. Adamson’s Clanciarrai Vigilante of Adabelle 2 yr old male, scores well in head & strong in under jaw, reach of neck into well sloped shoulder, elbows carried close to his body, straight front, good depth of brisket , would like a little more spring of rib, hocks close to ground, in good coat & moved steadily, tail well set on & carried.

Welsh : Open (1) : 1 & B.O.B. C Allow M.

HOUND GROUP : 1 Tebbutt’s Caredig Donovan (Irish Wolfhound) at just gone 9 months of age this male was most impressive in all departments, skull & fore face long & balanced, plenty of strength in his jaw, rose shaped well set ears, good eye & expression, muscular long neck, has an excellent front, elbows well under his body, super depth of chest, good length of back, strong driving quarters with good bend of stifle, tail long & carried correctly, excellent feet large & round turning neither in nor out, just coming into coat but is of correct texture, enjoying showing himself & never put a foot wrong. I was delighted to later watch him take Best Puppy In Show in strong competition ,will certainly watch his career with interest. 2 Melbourne & Paget’s Donnadoon Sea Vermillion at Marvale, (Min S/H Dachshund) young feminine b, liked her size & profile on stack, well shaped head & scores in jaw, clean under line & top line held at all times, has a well placed shoulder & upper arm, in excellent body with slight arch over loin, correctly set quarters & tail set, lovely condition & correct coat, standing true on all parts of her feet, moving with ease & purpose ; 3 Williams’s Barnesmore Queen Of The Celts (Whippet) just over 2 yr old feminine b, correct skull & strong in jaw, elegant arch of neck leading to good front, deep in chest with well sprung rib, correct tuck up, her coat is fine & dense & well presented, muscular quarters, neat feet, tail well set on & carried, a little unsettled on table today but moved around ring well ; 4 Harvey & Johnsson’s Lynx Princess Winter Cjw17 (Borzoi) 3 yr old ultra feminine, has a well balanced length of skull to fore face, good strength in her under jaw, dark eye with alert expression, ears nicely set on head, slight arch of neck & has shoulders set well back, forelegs straight, loin broad & has power, not a heavy coat but it is well presented & correct silky texture, has good feet, tail well set & feathered thought she could have raised it just slightly more than she wanted to, moved true fore & aft.

HOUND PUPPY GROUP : 1 C Donovan ; 2 Paget & Carroll’s Metadale Lark Ascending (Min S/H Dachsund) this young male has oodles of confidence & was thoroughly enjoying his time in the ring, excellent in head & eye, well set ears, body developing well, loved his top line & correct slight arch over loin, correctly shaped feet, tail well set & carried, his shoulder & upper arm are his fortune, moved well if a little fast at times but let him enjoy himself which he was today, excellent condition & presentation ; 3 Disley’s Snowleana Greta Garbo (Whippet), feminine young b, liked her size & balanced profile picture, did not disappoint on move, a little loose but fine at this age, well shaped in head, body developing nicely, good depth of chest, correct in feet & tail set & carriage, lovely dense coat & well presented ; 4 Greenhough’s Trevelans Mar Tika (Beagle), very raw b but scores in balance & femininity, has good jaw & skull, well shaped ears correctly set, body very raw at this stage, lovely neat feet, in super coat & was well presented, liked her well set tail & quarters, moved loosely but positively.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne P. Grad (2-1abs) 1 & B.O.B. Jones & Gregg’s Wratthembray Mr Tod, just over 1 yr old male, appealed a lot but when in group seemed to loose his spark but had a long wait. very nice in head & scores well in eye & ear, excellent body condition for one so young, in excellent coat & presented to perfection, strong muscular quarters with well bent stifles, his feet were firm & hard, liked him in profile & moved with a good stride.

Open (2) : 1 Humphrey’s Blevwil Drop Dead Gorgeous avec Gloynbyw Sh Cm, mature 5 yr old b, very pleasing in head with short & muscular neck, straight in foreleg, was deep & wide in chest but carrying excessive weight today, coat of good texture but could be presented better, tail set on high & well carried, has good feet but could be tidied to advantage ; 2 Singleton’s Lakeuden Super Muskrat at only 9 months of age very raw, out of coat today & a little erratic when being gone over on table, pleasing in head shape, good front & feet, body just developing but for me a little long in loin, tail well set & carried.

(B.G.V. Petit) Open (1) ; 1 & B.O.B. Taylor’s Tangaer Chris Caramak, almost 3 yr old male, of nice size & balance, has correct rough coat & is typical in head shape, good body & top line well held, his quarters are correctly set with well defined second thigh, good feet & strong nails, tail well set & carried, moved soundly.

Bloodhound : Jun (1) : 1 & B.O.B. Crabtree’s Maghullpaws Lord Of The Ring, impressive male, well shaped in head, not exaggerated in wrinkle with medium sized dark eye, his ears were long & low set on head, strong in jaw, lovely long neck, straight in foreleg with strong pasterns, strong in back & loin, short & smooth in coat, tail well set on, moved with free easy stride, hocks well set.

Open (2-1abs) : 1 Jones’s Harvidene Devil In Disguise, over 3 yr old male, more stocky & shorter in leg than B.O.B. has a masculine head of good shape & proportions, perhaps could loose a little weight to advantage, good top line & short firm loin, good tail set & carriage, moved well & in good coat.

Borzoi : P. Grad (3-1abs) : 1 Harvey’s Lynx Shades Of Autumn At Albaneiler, young male, not a large dog but in profile presents a lovely picture, pleasing in head shape & proportions, good eye & expression, reasonable length of neck with desired slight arch, shoulders set well back with straight foreleg, good rib & loin, well set rear & tail, just coming into coat, easy free stride ; 2 Raczka’s Jamariqui Alchemy Argent, very raw young male, lovely head shape, in good body for young age, depth of chest & strong in loin, good feet , very much at the gangly stage of his development & needs time, well set quarters.

Open (6-2abs) : 1 L Princess W Cjw ; 2 Smith’s Ryazan Joshua At Julam Sh Cm, 4 yr old male who I thought would be my winner, loved his masculine head, excellent front & super depth of chest, in excellent body & overall hard muscular condition, lovely coat texture & well presented, super feet, tail of good length & carried correctly, just fell apart on the move, I think needs a larger ring & perhaps would be more confident to get into his stride outside, quality male ; 3 Donnelly & Deveraux’s Serenefol Alicja.

L/H Dachshund : P. Grad (1) : 1 Lewis’s Trixhund Obsession, at just 6 month this young male performed very well, has a lovely outline in profile, liked his head & strong in jaw, well set ears & expressive in eye, strong neck leading to correct lay of shoulder & upper arm, very well developed in body for a youngster, correct in rib & loin, well developed quarters, correct in feet & tail, lovely coat condition & just developing in feathering, moved with ease & drive.

Open (1) : 1 & B.O.B. Lewis’s Trixhund Hi De Hi, young feminine b, desirable head & expression, well set ears, correct front with good keel, well shaped feet, in excellent body & hard muscular condition, correct quarters with well set tail, very enthusiastic on move, not a heavy dut dense coat of correct texture, well presented.

Min S/H Dachshund : P. Grad (3) : 1 M Lark A ; 2 Dalton”s Victorypaw Nami, pleasing in head with strong jaw, good neck & top line, a little more exaggerated in under line than 1, good feet & well set tail, excellent coat & well muscled; 3 Rose’s Apple Trees Mystic Mobil. Open (1) : 1 D Sea Vermillion at M.

Deerhound : Open (1) : 1 & B.O.B. Smith’s Hyndsight Timespace at Julan, 2 yr old male in profuse coat which is of correct texture with plenty undercoat, well balanced in skull & fore face, correct length of neck leading into well set shoulders, in excellent body, good rib & loin, well set rear, tail correctly set & carried on the move, good feet, moved soundly fore & aft with drive, in good muscular condition & well handled.

Irish Wolfhound : P. Grad (4-2abs) : 1 C Donovan ; 2 Hughes’s Sanffraidd Brenig 16 month raw male, good head shape, well set eye & good neck, has good bone but yet needs to develop in body & gain a few pounds in weight to his advantage, coat of good texture but needs depth, tail well set & carried correctly, moved free & easy.

Open (3-1abs) : 1 Tebbutt’s Caredig Angelina 2 & 1/2 yr old b, liked her size & substance, pleasing in head but prefer that of B.O.B. strong neck, good front, in excellent body, superb depth of chest, correct in rib & loin, well set muscular quarters, in excellent coat & condition, tail well set & carried, excellent feet, moved out well with ease fore & aft ; 2 S Brenig.

Pharaoh Hound : P. Grad (1) : 1 Lloyd’s Doucais Helu Faruna Of Athanasius young b who was a little unsettled today, lovely head with good eye & ear set, strong in neck, & super body for young age, excellent feet, strong quarters & in excellent coat & muscular condition, 

Open (1) : 1 & B.O.B. Lloyd’s Athanasius Anubis long in skull with strong fore face & jaw, ears well set & has blending eye colour, was very alert & showed with confidence, in good hard condition & excellent coat,muscular in neck with slight arch, well laid shoulder with elbows well in, good straight top line , well set rear with moderate bend of stifle, tail tapering & well set.

Rhodesian Ridgeback : P. Grad (5-3abs) : 1 & B.O.B. Kehoe & Phillip’s Anzacol Amazing Alika At Redcrown, younger than her kennel mate , I see she is a repeat mating of 2, feminine & a nice size, good in profile & more settled on the move today, flat skull & head of fair length, strong in jaw, strong neck & has good bone in her legs, well bodied & strong in top line, enough depth of chest & firm loin, round feet with elastic pads, moved free & easy, well set tail, in excellent coat & muscular condition ; 2 Kehoe & Phillips’s Affrhoda Ons Meisie Kya For Redrawn, lovely head shape & size, good eye & ear sets, in profile thought would be my winner but lost out on move today, well bodied & in hard condition, excellent coat, good feet & tail.

A.V.N.S.C. Open (4-3abs) : 1 Ingram’s Enguerrand Malificent Mimi (Basset) 4 yr old b, well set eye & ears on a feminine head, in good body & particularly liked her top line, a nice size b who has no exaggerations, good lay of shoulder, drives well behind, tail well set & carried, in good coat & presented in hard condition.
