CHRISTCHURCH & NEW FOREST CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

19 MAY 2019

MARC SMITH (CONCHUR)

Dachshund (Miniature Long)

JD/B (5, 1a) 1 Earley’s Sanmik Charming Chocolet of Yelva, smart choc/tan dog of 16 months won this class on his topline, length of neck and masculine head/expression. He moved well and was also pleased to award him RBOB. 2 Edwards’ Barok Exquisite Shady Lady, feminine bitch who also had a good topline and head and she moved well however I felt she needed more confidence which I’m sure will come with age.

PGD/B (3) 1 Edwards’ Barok Blue Moon Arising, nicely balanced b/t bitch with a feminine head, kind expression and good reach of neck. I appreciated her purposeful movement and that she wasn’t heavily coated. 2 Earley’s Willowheath Silver Queen of Yelva, 2yo nicely marked silver dapple bitch. Although she had a good topline and moved ok, I would like to see less coat and preferred the head of 1.

OD/B (5, 1a) 1 Edwards’ Barok Blonde Bombshell, 8yo cream bitch with an elegant, feminine head/expression who was nicely balanced, not overly coated and moved with purpose. Thank you for bringing this quality veteran who was a clear BOB on the day. 2 Hall & Osborne’s Dinkidax Midnite Charmer, 4yo b/t dog with a masculine, houndy head and correct coat. He moved well but lost out to 1 on neck and topline.

Dachshund (Miniature Smooth)

JD/B (7, 1a) Was pleased to see some promising youngsters in this class. 1 Reed’s Deercroft Dream Chaser, a 6 month red dog who caught my eye with his balanced outline, masculine head and purposeful movement. Despite being one of the youngest dogs in the class, he demonstrated true Dachshund spirit and confidence and I was thrilled to see him win the puppy group. 2 Protheroe’s Picollo Teckel True Love at Royalmaple (Imp RUS), 11m elegant red bitch with a feminine head/expression and a nice topline. Although of a smaller type, she presented a balanced outline in profile but I would have preferred better rear movement.

PGD/B (8) A strong class of varying types with many positive qualities, although I was disappointed at the number of dogs lacking confidence on the table. 1 Protheroe’s Royalmaple Fiddle Sticks, a handsome, masculine b/t dog of 20 months. An eye-catching dog in profile who also moved well and with purpose. I appreciated his houndy head, forechest and angulation and was pleased to award him RBOB. 2 Rudkin’s Siouxline Ross for Dynastydax, 11 month shaded red dog who moved well, carrying his masculine head with confidence. Although well-balanced in profile and on the move, I preferred the topline of 1.

OD/B (6) Another strong class and I was splitting hairs between 1 and 2, who were both quality bitches. 1 Rudkin’s Keydax Leyla for Dynastydax, a stunning b/t bitch of 19 months who caught my eye both on the move and stacked. On the table she was good to go over and I appreciated her feminine head/expression, topline and balanced proportions. On the move she powered around the ring with purpose and was presented in excellent condition. Upon sending 1 & 2 around together, I preferred her rear movement. My BOB today and thrilled to see her go second in a quality hound group. 2 Protheroe’s Ch Picollo Teckel Never Say Never at Royalmaple JW (Imp RUS), another eye-catching b/t bitch who looked beautiful in both profile and on the move. I appreciated her feminine head, topline and angulations.

Dachshund (Miniature Wire)

PGD/B (5) A nice class to judge however I felt that coats, toplines and confidence could be better in general. 1 Weeks’ Beldrew Flora at Avon JW, 20 month old bitch of good proportions who was both good to go over and moved well. She had a feminine head with good furnishings and won on her topline and movement. BOB. 2 Lewis’ Westwillow Topgear, 10 month old dog of a longer type with a masculine head and good neck. Topline not as good as 1 but he moved well and was pleased to award him BP & RBOB.

OD/B (1) Weeks’ Beldrew Flora at Avon JW.

Dachshund (Standard Long)

JD/B (1, 1a)

PGD/B (2, 1a) 1 Marsh’s A Touch of Magic at Marshwick, 3yo b/t dog with a masculine head/expression, excellent temperament and correct coat. He moved well, holding his topline. Stood alone today but a worthy BOB.

OD/B (1, 1a)

Dachshund (Standard Smooth)

JD/B (1) 1 Chapman-Reith’s Wanderhund Let’s Celebrate for Hayvenhund, an elegant b/t bitch of 12 months. Despite standing alone, she had true ring presence and moved well and with purpose, maintaining her head carriage and topline. She had a sweet temperament and was good to go over on the table. I appreciated her feminine head/expression and reachy neck. She was presented in excellent condition, was very much at one with her handler and a clear BOB today.

PGD/B (2) 1 Chapman-Reith’s Wanderhund Let’s Celebrate for Hayvenhund. 2 Marsh’s Marshwick Ace of Spades, a masculine dog with houndy head, good neck and correct topline. He moved well however I preferred the type and movement of 1.

OD/B (1) 1 Marsh’s Marshwick Black Princess, litter sister to 2nd in PG. I appreciated her feminine head, reachy neck and topline. She moved well, maintaining her appealing outline and I was pleased to award her RBOB.

Dachshund (Standard Wire)

PGD/B (5) Was pleased to see a class of quality exhibits with promising youngsters. The overall type, size and coat was good. 1 Foglia’s Kentixen Abies Grandis, larger dog of nearly 3yo who was presented well and with a good coat. He moved well and I appreciated his masculine head, reachy neck and excellent temperament. Although his topline on the move wasn’t the best in the class, his many positive attributes kept drawing me back to him as the class winner and eventual RBOB. 2 Rowe’s Boloria’s Miss Dior, a confident, happy bitch of just 6 months with a good topline which she also held on the move. I appreciated her correct coat and overall proportions and pleased to award her BP.

OD/B (5) Another strong class of exhibits with excellent temperaments. 1 Howlett & Prowting’s Boloria’s Arabella, a 5yo bitch who won this class and BOB on her movement and eye-catching profile. She was presented in excellent condition and I appreciated her reachy neck, topline and overall proportions. 2 Rowe’s Boloria’s Trick or Treat JW, another quality bitch in good coat with a feminine head and expression. I preferred the overall length of 1.

PGD/B (3, 1a) 1 Pyke & Brooker’s Rozelridge You Da Man, 6 month old dog with a lovely head/expression, purposeful movement and good tail carriage. Although I preferred the topline of 2, he won this class on his head and overall proportions. He was also BP today. 2 Whitelock’s Rumuruti Rather Hopeful, a 21 month old elegant bitch who moved well and kept a balanced outline stacked and on the move. I also appreciated her sweet temperament and kind expression.

OD/B (6, 3a) 1 Hawkins & Smith’s Veldtkammer Hot Shot of Lonaza ShCM, 8.5yo handsome dog with an appealing head, muzzle and neck who moved very well, maintaining his outline.
