Rhodesian Ridgebacks

The outdoor tarmac ring was spacious but it was cold, windy and wet, not Ridgeback weather and the youngsters especially were restive.

Junior (6, 2ab, 1 w/d) 1, BP, Parker’s Kiromol As You Like It with Azuli, lovely 10 month old red wheaten with a beautiful head and expression, correct skull shape, muzzle and ear set, ample substance, excellent front with super flow from neck into shoulder, so lovely to go over; plenty of fill and return, matching hind angulation with no exaggerations, well ribbed up, clean out and back, showed very well for her sympathetic handler despite feeling the cold, but later in the indoor group ring she really showed herself off and took a well-deserved PG1, must have a big future; 2, Coyne’s Ozubi’s Patience, 14 months elegant young bitch, pleasing feminine head, well laid shoulders, super feet and pasterns, good depth and length of ribbing, looked better moving than stacked as she was unsettled in the cold and tucking herself under behind, but a quality youngster; 3, Whitelock’s Rumuruti Rather Hopeful at Khamioka.

PG (2,1) 1, O Patience.

Open (6,3) 1, BOB, Maidment’s Amahle Alo, lighter wheaten 3yo, substantial masculine hound of excellent type, correct head proportions and plenty of strength and substance without showing any sign of coarseness, really good front and feet, deep chest, powerful quarters, well constructed all through and he made the most of his excellent conformation on the move, striding out well in profile and really sound out and back with precise footfall, shrugged off the conditions to take BOB; 2, Kapma-Saunders’ Diamondridge Belladonis at Oostblik, 9 year old in superb fettle for his age, a stylish elegant houndy type with a very nice head and outlook, well balanced and constructed, and he moved really well, just a touch soft in topline; 3. Whitelock’s Khamioka Born of Emma.
