Stanhope Agricultural Society Open Show - 15 September 2019

My sincere thanks to the Club for the invitation to judge at their open show, it was a real honour and I was delighted with the quality of the entrants. The show had a lovely atmosphere and I wish to thank the exhibitors for supporting my appointment.

YKC HANDLING CLASSES

YKC 6-11yrs (2,0)

1st Alyssa Grace Ambler put on a good performance handling a Border Collie. She had

her dog stood correctly at all times and made good use of verbal commands throughout

their time in the ring. Teeth were presented with care and precision, and she ensured

her dog was moving at the correct pace, executing neat straight lines.

2nd Roxanne Cannon handling a Whippet put in a commendable performance. Moved

her dog at the correct pace, and handled gently using her voice and lead control, but

passed between dog and judge on more than one occasion.

YKC 12-16yrs (3,0)

1st Daisy Mason exhibited a confident and refined routine with her young Boxer. A

gentle and kind handler she had her dog moving at the correct speed at all times, and

executed neat pattern work with straight lines. She was very patient and worked hard to

encourage and get the best out of her dog.

2nd Darci Pirie handling a Eurasier. Darci did an excellent job with her young dog that

was not being the most cooperative and was fidgeting. She remained calm and

composed and kept her dog’s focus. Pattern work, stance and teeth presentation were all

excellent. Close up to 1st in this class, I just felt on the day that Daisy had the edge with

a more self assured style.

UTLITY BREEDS

Lhasa Apso Post Graduate (5,1)

1st McCoy’s Pawwarzstarz Mr Orbit. 8month old male presented in excellent condition

and full of attitude. Good proportions overall. Correct angles front and rear, and moved

out with typical jaunty stride. BPIB & PG2

2nd Taylor’s Dippy Dappy Doo. 3yr old bitch. Presented in good coat and condition, she

was well handled and moved well. Unfortunately she was somewhat lacking enthusiasm

on the day.

3rd Chesterfield & Thompson’s Burnsett Black Jack with Toynbee

Lhasa Apso Open (3,1)

1st Chesterfield’s Sifrason Kona At Burnsett. 4yr old bitch, well balanced with a

feminine head of correct proportions with dark eye. Well bodied she has a well arched

neck, good lay of shoulder and ample rib. She carried herself assertively, maintaining

her topline as she moved with the required jaunty action. Beautifully presented in firm

condition and handled to advantage. BOB.

2nd Thompson’s Toynbee Knick Knack. 14mth old male. Well presented young dog with

good coat and correct proportions. Giving away to maturity of the bitch on the day.

Shih Tzu Post Graduate (2,1)

1st Moore’s Ashmakin Red Is The Rose At Jaxtzu. Promising 8 month old bitch

presenting a pleasing outline. A happy little show girl, well constructed, with correct

angles front and rear, she moved out well. Attractive head of good balance, typical

expression. Well presented and handled to advantage. BOB & GROUP 4; PG1 & BPIS

Shih Tzu Open (2,1)

1st Longstaff’s Shihmali Victorious. Well balanced 3yr old male, correct head of good

proportions with black pigmentation. Presented in good firm condition, and well coated.

Moved out well with a distinct air of arrogance.

Dalmatian Post Graduate (2,0)

1st Noble’s Ruebedu Sheik Yerbouti. A well balanced bitch showing strength and

elegance. Nicely marked overall, feminine head of good proportions, with sweet

expressive eye and good ears. Powerful on the move, sound to, fro, and on the sidegait,

maintaining a firm top line throughout. BOB & GROUP 3

2nd Barrett’s Dalmanti Ruby Raider ShCM. Unfortunately this young lady was not for

putting on her best performance in the cold. Correct angles front and rear, and good

head proportions. Moved out okay.

Dalmatian Open (3,0)

1st Noble’s Shulune Celtic Snapdragon of Ruebedu. Well constructed and balanced

liver spotted bitch. Head a little plain but excellent proportions with clean expressive eye

and correct ears. Correct forechest, deep brisket & good solid bone into tight feet.

Presented in good condition.

2nd Lamb’s Dalpetro Diamond JW. Attractive black spotted bitch. Good overall balance

and well boned. Correct angles front and rear, good head proportions. Moved well.

3rd Barrett’s Dalmanti Ice Ruby JW ShCM

Chow Chow Open (5,2)

1st Ellis’ Bojinghai Black Velvet. Black 2yr old bitch of good proportions, showing with

enthusiasm and willingness. Smaller made than the others in the class but well balanced.

Excellent head with good ears, correct eye and pigmentation. Short strong back, and tail

carried throughout. BOB & GROUP 2

2nd Hunter & Oliver’s Mosspark Blue Spangle. Blue coloured 3yr old bitch. Bigger type

than 1, presented in good coat and condition. Moved okay, but unfortunately really

unsettled in the ring on the day.

3rd Thorman & Ellis’ Peter Parker. BPIB & PG4

Toy Poodle Open (2,0)

1st Galloway & Reed’s Warchris Heaven Sent.

2nd Galloway & Reed’s Steelthorn Miss Angel

Both black bitches had the same owner and this made the class difficult to judge

properly as 2nd would have undoubtedly been my winner here, but she would just not

move on 4-legs.

Min Poodle Open (3,2)

1st Smart’s Voodoolan Black Magic Spell ShCM. 2.5yr old black male presented in

immaculate condition. Balanced and elegant head. Good body with a short strong back,

correct angles front and rear, moving soundly from all directions. Handled to advantage. BOB

AV Utility NSC Puppy (3,1)

1st Bell’s Glockens Raise Your Spirit. 11mth old male Min Schnauzer. A very smart

little dog, presenting a pleasing outline with good overall balance. He has a masculine

head, dark expressive eyes and neat ears. His correct construction allowed him to move

out well, covering the ground with reach and drive. BEST AVNSC PUPPY & PG3

2nd Taylor’s Layoli Sea Of Secrets At Billkenstar. 11mth old black Tibetan Terrier dog.

Really lovely puppy, with good overall proportions, well boned and typical head.

Presented and handled well, and moved out with enthusiasm.

AV Utility NSC Open (12,2)

1st Parkinson’s Ir Ch. Kaydanmy A Touch Of Class. Have judged this Eurasier male as

a youngster and glad to see he has matured so nicely. Excellent proportions, good bone

for size and so well balanced. He has a strong masculine wedge shaped head with a keen

expression and neat ears. His very correct construction and angulation ensures he

moves true from all directions. Presented in excellent condition and shown to advantage

by his clever handler. BEST AVNSC; GROUP 1 & BIS

2nd Garrett’s Redwitch Pole Position at Krissienite. Male Akita of good size.

Presenting a strong powerful outline. Typical masculine head of correct proportions, with

dark eyes, well placed ears, and good pigmentation. Strong neck into well placed

shoulders. Correct angles front and rear. Good in body. Tail well set and carried. Covered

the ground with power and ease from all directions.

1st Heslop’s Flamuna Arktouros 7yrs old brown German Spitz Mittel male. Presented in

firm condition and well handled. A typical and pleasing spitz outline, with tail well set and

carried. Overall well balanced, correct masculine wedge shaped head, correct eye shape,

good ears. Good angles front and rear, adequate bone, moved out well covering the

ground.

2nd Longstaff’s Shihmali Mum’s the Word 8yr old Shih Tzu bitch. A very typical and

pretty girl who moved out really well. Shown in firm condition, with sturdy body, good

topline and tailset. Lovely head with dark eyes and lovely expression.

TOY BREEDS

L/C Chihuahua Special Yearling (5,1)

1st Gillling’s Cantico’s Mercedes of Talocan 13 month old bitch. Presents a compact

pleasing outline. Typical in head. Good bone for size. Moved out purposefully.

2nd Newbery’s Melissa Dogomania At Hermosoangel. 13mth old bitch of nice breed

type. Lots to like but really feeling the cold on the day.

3rd Gray’s Rubyanlo Bertie Buttons

L/C Chihuahua Post Graduate (6,2)

1st Mason’s Catwalk Queen 4yr old bitch. Good head of correct proportions, nice eye

and well placed ears. Level topline, well set tail carried throughout. Handled very well

and moved soundly. BOB & GROUP 3

2nd Gillling’s Cantico’s Mercedes of Talocan (winner of previous class)

3rd Gray’s Rubyanlo Bertie Buttons PG3

L/C Chihuahua Open (6,2)

1st Emmerson’s X-Ismirelle’s Boy Dogomania JW. Slightly larger type, but has a lot of

attributes. Overall balance and sound construction. Good head proportions with nice eye

and good ears. Level topline and tail carried well on the move. Handled to advantage

and in firm condition.

2nd Newbery’s Ismirelle’s The Mad Hatter At Hermosoangel. A happy showman with

many similar attributes to 1st whom just had the edge when it came to coat on the day.

3rd Gilling’s Vikkilous Fabulous Flavia of Talocan JW

S/C Chihuahua Special Yearling (3,1)

1st Day’s Bratilda Galway Girl At Monicachi Smart 10mth old bitch. Correct apple

dome head with a super expression. Small, well set ears, good length to neck & body.

Tail set high and used throughout. Moved out well with sound brisk action. BPIB& PG2

2nd Newbery’s Bratilda The A Team 10mth old male. Not enjoying today at all sadly.

Movement was good at times, but performance was being affected by the cold.

S/C Chihuahua Post Graduate (1,0)

1st Day’s Bramerita Why Oh Why Delilah At Monicachi A confident showgirl. Correct

domed head and good muzzle. Good reach of neck. Level topline and good tail set.

Correct angles front and rear. Moved out well.

S/C Chihuahua Open (2,1)

1st Jackson’s Rosebud Crystal Godess Very balanced and sound. Good size and good

for bone. Correct head of good proportions with correct eye and well set ears. Good

angles front and rear. Moved out well and handled to advantage. BOB & GROUP 2

Pug Open (1,0)

1st Butler’s Senousi I’m It At Gilarch. 3yr old fawn coloured male. Happy showman

shown in good firm condition. Short compact body, typical head, clean eye and sweet

expression. Strutted round the ring with ease. BOB & GROUP 1

AV Toy NSC Puppy (1,0)

1st Emmerson’s Sleepyhollow Randolph at Ismirelle Smart 9mth old Japanese Chin

male. Compact outline, good in body and tail well set. Typical head with good eye and

expression. Moved out well. PG1

1st Kinghorn’s Linjato Kaisho ShCm. 4yr old Japanese Chin male. Compact with good

bone. Correct angles front and rear. Well coated and presented. Moved out with purpose.

2nd Emmerson’s Auralea Wishful Thinking for Ismirelle JW. Petite 15mth old bitch,

really affected by the cold on the day. Moved out okay.
