Kirkintilloch, Lenzie & District Canine Society Open Show - 26 January 2019

My sincere thanks to the Club for the invitation to judge the Toy & Utility AVs, groups and BIS at their open show. It was a really lovely appointment and I was delighted with the quality of the entrants. The show had a friendly atmosphere and I wish to thank the exhibitors for accepting my decisions in a sporting manner and for supporting my appointment. Final thanks to my lovely stewards who were super efficient and good company.

AV Stakes Veteran (27, 11)

What a cracking class to start the day with! I was spoilt for choice with so many worthy entrants having to leave cardless. Congratulations to all the exhibitors for keeping their veterans in super show condition.

1st Logan’s Luekiki Diemos To Spyanki JW Topping this class was a 9.5 years-old gold Lhasa Apso male who presented the most pleasing balanced outline both standing and on the move. A happy showman he covered the ground with a typical flowing movement. He has good substance and proportionate bone, correct head, well placed forequarters, neat feet and strong hindquarters with good muscle tone. He was expertly handled and shown in immaculate condition. (Utility Group 1)

2nd Maclaine & Dickson’s Sh Ch Ir Sh Ch Greyspirit Royal Scot At Trilite ShCM CJW’10 Ir Jun Ch. Almost 10 years-old Weimaraner male belying his years. An alert, powerful dog that constantly drew my eye. Correct balanced head, clean neck into straight forelegs, tight feet, strong level back, overall good substance and excellent muscle tone. Impressive on the move and well handled to get the best out of him given the restricted space.

1st Gorrian & Henry’s Ir Sh Ch Perdizyco Andres An Ch 17 CJW 17 CW 17 Jun Ch. Very smart 3-years-old Portuguese Pointer male. Presented in super condition with evident muscle tone. On the stand he presents a square balanced outline, and has good bone to size ratio. Masculine, balanced in head with a keen expression. Stylish mover who covered the ground with ease.

AVNSC Utility Open (8,6)

1st Parkinson’s Ir Ch Kaydanmy A Touch Of Class CW 18 CJW 18. Handsome Eurasier male, just 2 years-old. Balanced wedge shaped head, good eyes, dark pigment and correct well placed ears. Excellent body proportions and good for bone. Straight front, adequate neck, strong back, correct well set tail which he carried throughout. Well off for coat which was presented in super condition. Moved steadily, well schooled and handled to advantage. (Utility Group 2)

2nd McLaren’s Barannod Ballyshannon Boy Jun Ch. 3.5 year-old Akita male of good size, with plenty of substance and bone. Strong typical head with good muzzle, dark eyes, good pigment, and correct ears. Short strong neck into well placed shoulders; he is well bodied and held his topline on the move and covered the ground with power and ease in profile.

GROUP 3 Coughtrie’s Ch Tulibell Starstruck with Jazpiper JW ShCm 4-years-old Tibetan Spaniel bitch. Pretty, feminine head of good proportions with lovely dark eye and adequate cushioning. She is a pleasing shape, with good leg length and excellent feet. Presented in good coat, she moved out well with a positive balanced stride.

GROUP 4 MacDonald’s Danckomac Indiana Bones. Bulldog male of 2.5 years old. Handsome lad of good proportions, presented in clean, firm condition. Moved out soundly.

AV Utility Special Minor Puppy (6,1)

1st King’s Araki Magic Dancer for Karamyst. A super smart 7 month old B&W Tibetan Terrier who presented an eye-catching and pleasing balanced outline. Well proportioned he has correct angles front & rear, good bone, a compact strong body and is showing good development for age. An alert showman, he was well presented in good clean condition, and carried his tail throughout. Well schooled and well handled to cover the ground steadily and with ease. A bright future awaits.

2nd Parkinson’s Kaydanmy Call the Shots. Very pretty, just 6-month-old Eurasier bitch with a promising career ahead I’m sure. Attractive head of good proportions, correct eyes, good ears and good pigment. Well proportioned body and good bone for size. A little unsettled on the stand, she pulled it together to move out stylishly.

1st Bell’s Foxifayre Keep the Faith with Allforus (AI). Promising, 9month old Keeshond bitch, so attentive to handler. Impressive on the stand, presenting a compact balanced outline. Feminine, wedge shaped head of good proportions, with keen expression, dark eyes, well set ears and correct markings. Correct body proportions, good substance and adequate bone, neat tight feet. Tight, well set tail, held throughout. Correct profuse coat of good condition. Brisk, steady mover. Just edged ahead of the Minor puppy in the challenge on maturity. (Special Best Utility Puppy)

2nd Gardner’s Peanuts Bundle of Fluff. 10-month old Lhasa Apso bitch. Good overall proportions, with a balanced outline. Correct angles front and rear, level topline, firm in body, high well set tail. Moved well.

1st Easdon & Martin’s Klerkshof Lulu at Yakee. Smart 16-month old Pekingnese bitch. Good head with dark expressive eyes. Compact, balanced body, well coated, she covered the ground easily.

AV Toy Special Minor Puppy (6,2)

1st Pike’s Rhodenash Stella Dreams of Eivisah. Pretty 8-month-old Pug bitch. Confident showgirl, she is nicely developed for age. Typical head with large dark eyes and good ears. Straight strong front and good rear quarters. Square in outline. Moved out with purpose.

2nd Marshall’s Yorlanders Amethyst. Another 8-months old Pug bitch to which many of the same comments apply, perhaps not surprisingly they share the same sire. Just felt that 1 had the edge today with her more confident nature.

3rd Silverstein’s Silverchi <catalogue error> (Long Coat Chi)

AV Toy Special Puppy (11,4)

1st Breen’s Amicae Highland Glen. Smart 10-month-old Papillon male. Well schooled and presented in lovely condition. Quite the showman, this young lad commands your attention, he has a beautiful head with typical ears, good eyes and the sweetest of expressions. He is well made, with just enough bone giving the required dainty appearance. On the move he was free-flowing covering the ground easily without any exaggeration. Was pleased to award him Special Best Toy Puppy.

2nd Chalmers’ Misteriya Del Esto Greenwood Elf (Imp Rus). 10-month-old Pomeranian dog. Another smart exhibit, who presents an eye-catching picture on the stand and moving. Typical head, good eyes, ears, and pigment. Correct angles front and rear, compact firm body, tight tail. Moved out briskly and with attitude.

GROUP 1 Stracey’s Ch Krieger Dark ‘n’ Delicious JW ShCM. 20-month-old Miniature Pinscher bitch. What a cracker – I completely fell in love with this little show-off, who absolutely demands your attention. Presents a most balanced, compact outline on the stand and moving, and she is so pleasing to handle. She has a feminine head of correct proportions, dark expressive eyes and neat well set ears which she used throughout. Correct angles front and rear, sturdy compact body, good neck and neat feet. Completely at one with her handler; what a striking team they make. I suspect the best is still yet to come for this starlet. Delighted to award BIS

GROUP 2 Bayne & Smith’s Manoir’s Mr Moonlight JW ShCm. Just 2-years-old Bichon Frise male. Presented in immaculate condition and handled to advantage. Beautifully balanced, with good rib and body, and adequate bone. Pleasing in head with sweet expression. Effortless, positive mover from all angles.

GROUP 3 Ogilvie’s Pakov’s Midnight Gift. Black 27-month-old Pomeranian bitch. Another young star she is well balanced and has a feminine head of correct proportions with dark eye and correct dentition. She carried herself assertively, maintaining her topline as she moved effortlessly around the ring. Beautifully presented in firm condition and handled to advantage.

RBIS Green & Place’s Collooney Hells Angel of Brochinbelle JW ShCM. 2.5 years-old Whippet, so feminine and beautifully balanced. Pretty head, shown in super condition and expertly handled, she moved out with freedom and elegance. Her quality could not be denied.

2nd Cairns’ Avector Teraline Do Russia at Lamarg. 7.5-month-old Dobermann male. Very ably presented by his young handler. A strong dog, presenting a pleasing elegant outline. Good overall balance, correct angles front and rear. Moved out effortlessly showing reach and drive.

1st Shepherd’s Lyntova I Am Legend (IKC). Not quite 3-years-old male Keeshond, presented in full coat of good condition. Short, compact in body, with balanced angles front and rear. Masculine head of good proportions, with correct eyes, ears and with typical markings. Alert to handler and a stylish, brisk mover.

2nd Warden’s Eyevalley Macallan of Glentochty ShCm. Golden Retriever male of 7-years-old. Belying his years he presents a pleasing balanced outline and on the move he covered the ground with power and ease. Presented in good condition and well handled.

AV Bob Cross Memorial Stakes Open Bitch

1st Ritchie’s Cheolview Faithful 9-years-old B&W Lhasa Apso bitch. Ably presented by her young handler, they make a good team. Feminine head of good proportions, strong well arched neck into compact and balanced body. Presented in beautiful coat, she covered the ground freely with a typical action.

2nd Darling’s Sharufa Shadowing James. Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch of 8-years-old. Another who was very ably piloted by her young handler, who worked hard to get the best out of her on the move and standing. A quality bitch, with good overall balance, correct angles front and rear, moved out well.
