Torquay & District Canine Society

Firstly may I thank all those exhibitors who turned out in the awful weather conditions and also opted for the dog show rather than the World Cup Rugby.

Secondly many thanks to the committee for their hospitality and in particular to my stewards who kept things running so smoothly.

English Setters.

Open D/B (1)

1.    Osman’s BOURNEHOUSE STAR GAZER AT MARISSOLO SH.CM.  6 yr. old in great coat and condition.  Excellent head, dark eyes with appealing look.  Good front, deep chest, well ribbed body, good topline, croup and tailset.  Moved well. BOB.

German Wirehaired Pointers.

Open D/B (3)

 I see from the catalogue these two are mother and daughter and they were quite hard to split.

1.     Harries’ MYRNA LOY.  Mature bitch with balanced head, good height to length ratio, good strong bone, well sprung ribs, moved well to take BOB.

2.    Harries’ DREGHEDA IF I WERE SINGLE.  Smaller bitch all through and much to appeal.  Nice head and expression with dark hazel eye colour.  Well made body with deep chest and good angulation.

3.    Appleby’s KIMMAX KOZY CHAT.

Hungarian Viszlas

Open D/B (4, 1 abs)

1.    Hunter’s TOSSNEER SOPHRONIA.  2 yr. old with a good clean outline.  Good head with attractive expression, lovely rich coloured coat, good angulation, moved and showed well.

2.    Hughes’ LISTERIO APEROL SPRITZ.  Another nice bitch and close up to winner.  Nice head and eyes, good level back, well made body, good quarters.

3.    Hughes’ AMBRAVITTORIYA OSKAR AT LISTERIO.  Best Puppy.

Hungarian Wirehaired Viszlas

Open D/B (1)

1.    Hammans’ ZOLTAROUS GUELDER ROSE.  On her own but showed herself as a nice example of her breed. Nice head with correct furnishings, Well made body with level backline, deep chest, good angulation, all finished off with a good coat. BOB.


Irish Setters


Puppy D/B (6, 3 abs)

1.    Henderson, Szwajkowski, & Pike’s REDCLYST PERSHING.  Young dog puppy, still at the rangy stage.  He has a good head with dark eyes, good body proportions, well made front and rear.  He moved and showed well to win Best Puppy and continued later in the day to win Best Puppy in Group.  I hope he goes on to fulfil his potential.

2.    Randle’s ALOLFRANA LADY MILLION AT RIONORE.  Nice puppy bitch showing a lot of promise and close run to my winner.  Lovely head and neck, good body.  She lost out today as her rear action was not as positive as 1st.

3.    Henderson’s REDCLYST PASHA.


Graduate D/B (5, 3 abs)

1.    Beldham’s REDCLYST CHARLIE BROWN AT BOWRINGLEE.  Nicely made dog, in good coat and condition.  He showed a good head, well made body, good in front and rear assembly.  Moved soundly.

2.    Macdonald’s REDCLYST HEAD FULL OF DREAMS.  Another nice one. A little longer and narrower in body than the winner.  Very good head and expression, good bone. Not as positive in rear action as the winner.


Open Dog (5, 1 abs)

1.    Macdonald’s REDCLYST MAXIMUS.  Young dog, full of type.  Good head, well boned, deep chest, good ribbing.  Moved well and soundly with lovely slashing tail action.

2.    Pike’s REDCLYST BORIS.  Lovely head, neck and shoulders, good bone and feet, good angulation.  He also moved well. I see from the catalogue that the two dogs are litter brothers.  I just felt that Boris needed a little more maturity.

3.    Partridge’s KERRYDOWN ONE MAN.


Open Bitch (8, 4 abs)

1.     Partridge’s KERRYDOWN OCTAVIA Sh.CM.  Really looked the part today.  Good head, dark eyes, sloping topline to well made croup and tailset, good deep chest, strong bone, tight feet.  Best mover in the breed.  Best of Breed.

2.    Hall’s GLENNARA CILLEIGNE DERVLA (IMP) JW.  Pretty bitch, well made throughout, good deep chest, well ribbed, good angulation all through.  Not quite as finished as the winner.

3.    Pike’s REDCLYST AURA.


Italian Spinone


Open D/B (4, 2 abs)

1.    Mortimer’s SCODINZOLARE PERLESCENTI.  Good head and eyes, well made body, good angulation.  Moved well showing correct topline.  Best of Breed.

2.    Moore’s SCODINZOLARE PERLA D’ORO.  I see from the catalogue that they are litter sisters.  Similarly to the winner she had a good head and eyes and is well made throughout.  Good rough coat.  Not as positive behind as her sister.


Large Munsterlander


Open D/B (2)

1.    Disney’s Sh.Ch. WONGLEPONG WILL’S FARAMIR.  Large well made dog, good topline and tailset, thick bone, good feet, well made quarters. Moved well showing good tail carriage.  Best of Breed.

2.    Leeming’s ASHLOWRICK LADIES DAY AT ISCADU.  Smaller, finer bitch with good head and ribs, well angulated quarters. Moved well for a veteran.


Pointer


Open D/B (3, 2 abs)

1.    Osman’s FLEURFIELD FIRETHORN AT MARISSOLO.  Quality dog with lovely head, dark eyes, good  oval bone, correct feet, short coupled body, good topline and tailset, correct angulation.  Moved soundly with good stride.  On his own here so Best of Breed but he continued to show well in the Group to become Best Gundog.


Curly Coated Retrievers


Open D/B (2)

1.    Edworthy’s MAYCOURT CADILLAC.  I see from the catalogue that these two are brother and sister.  They share many of the same attributes, making it difficult to separate them.  This dog has a good wedge shaped head, is well angulated with a good body and topline and well sprung ribs.  He moved well and soundly to take this class. Best of Breed.

2.    Courtier’s SH.CH. MAYCOURT CRIMSON MOON.  She has feminine head, good angulation, and is well boned with nice tight feet.  Not as positive behind in movement as her brother today.


Flat Coated Retrievers

Graduate D/B (2, 1 abs)

1.    Dennis’ GUNOAK EMERALDS WAGTAIL. Pretty 8mth puppy who overcame her ring nerves to eventually move round with a wagging tail.  Good head, dark eyes, good front and quality bone, well bodied.  Promising. Best Puppy.

Open D/B (3, 2 abs)

1.     Legg’s CLANDRIFT DARK LADY.  Mature bitch with good head, well made body, good bone, good angulation.  Moved soundly with a constantly wagging tail.  Best of Breed.


Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

Graduate D/B (3, 1 abs)

1.     Palfrey’s FOXDOWN BERTIE ALLSORTS Sh.CM.  9 yr. old dog with heavy coat, well boned, mature head with good expressive eyes, correct markings, moved well with good tail carriage.

2.    Hipkiss’ REDAURORA COMET’S CHRISTMAS OF DELTANDAMBA.  Another 9 yr. old. Petite bitch with good body proportions, nice head. Not quite as good in movement as the winner.

Open D/B (3, 1 abs)

1.     Hipkiss’ ERIKACHEN O’RUADH FOR DELTANDAMBA JW Sh.CM ShCEx.  5 yr. old dog in his prime and shown in good quality coat.  Nice head, deep chest, well ribbed body, moved well and soundly. Best of Breed.

2.    Palfrey’s FLUSHPOINT WHATA ACCIDENT FOR MELANITTA (Imp) Sh.CM VW. 10 yr. old and still very attractive. Good bone and feet, well made body, moved out well.


English Springer Spaniel

Open D/B (3).

1.     Merrick’s TIVERSTONE STATESMAN AT STORMERICK.  B/w well made strong dog, very mature. Strong bone, good feet, ,deep in chest and well sprung ribs.  Sound mover. Best of Breed.

2.    Holman’s ROQFOLLY JUMPIN JACK FLASH.  10 mth dog with nice head and eyes, giving good expression, good body, nicely angulated.  Scores in front movement.

3.    Kibby’s TRIXHUND SCARLETT RIBBONS.


Welsh Springer Spaniels

Junior D/B (5)

1.     Barnes’ NYLIRAM TWIST AND SHOUT WITH BARHI.  Puppy bitch with much to like.  Good body properties, well boned with good tight feet, moved well. Best Puppy.

2.    Dimond’s ISLANZA OUT OF THE BLUE AT ROXDALE.  13 mth old who still needs to develop a little more in body.  Good head and eyes, good bone, well made hindquarters, went well.

3.    Blackford’s AMBLELIGHT PORCIA.

Graduate D/B (4, 1 abs)

1.    Mercer’s AMBLELIGHT CASSIOPEIA.  Typical WSS.  Nice head, good neck and shoulders, correct length of body, well made quarters.  Moved well but a little proud of his tail.

2.    Best’s AMBLELIGHT OPHELIA.  Another typical specimen and I see from the catalogue she is sister to the winner.  Good head, deep brisket, good ribbing.  Not moving quite as well as her brother.

3.    Dimond’s ROXDALE MOTHERS GIFT.

Open D (2).

1.     Blackford’s AMBLELIGHT GALATEA.  Good dog with well made body, good front and rear, nice head with dark eyes, rich in colour.  Moved well but a little proud of tail.

2.    Attwood’s Ir Sh. Ch KYLOWEN DRYM Sh CM.  Good looking dog with all the right attributes but let himself down moving today.  Another day these two could change places.

Open B (4, 1 abs)

1.    Attwood’s KYLOWEN DEMELZA.  Good bitch, mature in body and coat, showing a compact outline. Good head with dark eyes, well boned, deep in chest, well ribbed. Moved well. Best of Breed.

2.    Dimond’s ROXDALE SUNDAY LOVERS.  Nice bitch with a lot to like, good head and expression, good neck and topline, well boned with good round feet.  A bit longer cast than the winner and not as deep in brisket.

3.    Blackford’s AMBLELIGHT SUNGLOW.


Weimaraners

Open D/B (2)

1.    Kerslake’s KUANTAN COSWORTH.  Up to size dog with good bone and tight, firm feet.  Level topline, good angulation, well developed body, muscled up hindquarters.  Moved well. Best of Breed.

2.    Goord’s INDESKI REAGAN.  Nice bitch with good length to height ratio, well made quarters, nice neck and shoulders.  Would like a little more substance.


AV Gundog

Minor Puppy D/B (6, 3 abs)

1.     A.OSKAR AT LISTERLO. Hungarian Viszla who gave too much age away in his previous class.  Very raw still at just 6 mths but showing plenty of promise.  Moved well in this class to clinch his win.

2.    Newstead’s HAMPSBECK ZEST OVER CHAMPLES.  Black Labrador puppy with nice head and eyes, good bone and feet, good topline and tailset.  Not quite as positive in rear movement.

3.    Harman’s AMBLELIGHT SALICA. WSS.

Puppy D/B (5, 3 abs)

1.    Meaker’s KALISPELL CALAMITY JANE AT MEAKWOOD.  Cocker Spaniel.  Mature blue roan puppy with good head and eyes, good neck and shoulder, nice tight feet. Well ribbed body and good hindquarters.  Went well.

2.    A. OSKAR AT LISTERLO.

Graduate D/B (7, 2 abs)

1.    L. APEROL SPRITZ. Hungarian Viszla.

2.    Wallace’s TIAJA LOVE IN THE SUN.  Yellow Labrador, well constructed with good head and dark eyes, good body, well ribbed.  Moved soundly but a little proud of her tail.

3.    S. PERLA D’ORO.

Open D/B (2, 1abs)

1.     Hughes’ LILLY BABY AT LISTERLO.  Hungarian Viszla.  4 yr. old of good type and quality.  Good head and eyes, good neck and shoulders, good feet, well made all through. Moved well.

AV VETERAN D/B (14, 5 abs)

1.    Attwood’s Ir Sh Ch MOORASH LADY YGRAINE OF KYLOWEN Sh CM VW Vet Ch.  9 yr. old WSS shown in great coat and condition, good head, neck and shoulders, good quarters, good bone and feet.  I believe she became Best Veteran in Show and thoroughly deserved it.

2.    Wallace’s TIAJA AMERICAN DREAM. 7 yr old Labrador with good head, neck and body, in good coat and condition. Showed really well.

3.    Osman’s WILCHRIMANE DIAMOND GEEZER Sh CM.  Pointer.

Gundog Group

1.    FLEURFIELD FIRETHORN AT MARISSOLO. Pointer

2.    ERIKACHEN O’RUADH FOR DELTANDAMBA JW Sh CM ShCEx. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
