Southampton & District Canine Association Saturday

 20th July

What a lovely well run show, my first time at this venue and I really enjoyed it. Thank you to the committee for the invitation and excellent hospitality.

Spaniels (Field)

My sincere thanks to the exhibitors today for your support and for giving me such a lovely entry of dogs to examine.

Puppy 1 1st Mr & Mrs M & L Webber Fecimus Star Trooper at Trevoris

What a lovely start to the day, this super young man has a lovely outline, just 11 months, his head is developing nicely with a good eye colour and correctly shaped rims. He has a good front with a nice return of upper arm, his body is well developed for his age, he has lovely bone and nice round feet, his moderately bent rear stifle completes the picture. He moves happily with correct tail carriage he is true both fore and aft, and in profile his movement has that characteristic unhurried gate. Pleased to hear he went on to PG2

Post Graduate 4 (1) 1st Mr & Mrs M & L Webber Fecimus The Kings Troop at Trevoris

Liver dog, masculine head, a little heavier than I would like, but has good eye shape and colour. He has a decent length of neck and has good front angulation, level topline which was held on the move, for me he was carrying a tad too much weight over his front. He has super depth of chest with good rear angulation and is well muscled. He has a tendency to fly his tail on the move, but moves well.

2nd Mr & Mrs D Stone Sonnetend Flawless Pretty femine black bitch, lovely head with good length of foreface, and moderate stop, she has super dark eyes of the correct shape. She has a decent length of neck, straight front, with enough bone. I would prefer to have a little more of her all though, but she is balanced, with decent angles front and rear. She is a happy girl on the move, but has a tendency to toe in at the front. Shown in lovely gleaming coat.

3rd Adams Hird Lewis & Herd Fecimus Best of Both Worlds

Open 6 (1)

1st Mr & Mrs Murray Sh Ch Nadavin Quinlan Wow! my notes say stunning. I loved this boy, he is the complete picture, from his super head with lovely dark eye, showing that grave gentle expression that the breed should have. His strong neck is of good length leading into his well laid shoulders. His front is correctly constructed, with well boned legs and tight feet. He holds a level topline, he has substance and strength in body, good rib cage, and ample depth of chest. When stood he flows from nose to tail, his rear angulation is correct with a moderately bent stifle, he moves with accurate foot fall in both directions and in profile has that driving movement that you would expect from the breed. He was shown in glorious coat and condition, and I was amazed to find out at the end that he is just short of his 10th birthday - I would have put him at 5!! BOB & happy to see he made the sort list in the group.

2nd Mr & Mrs Murray Nadavin Wallace Another super male from this kennel. Close up to 1, he has a different type of head to 1, being a tad broader and deeper in flew, but it is a lovely masculine head, giving the impression of nobility, with correct chiselling beneath the eyes which were of good colour. He has a good length of neck, into his well laid shoulders. He has correct front assembly, and ample bone. His body is strong with moderately sprung ribs and super depth of chest, another with good rear quarters and another quality dog. His movement when settled was correct and sound. Had there been a Reserve Best of Breed - he would have been it.
