Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge and to my steward for organising me. Thank you to the exhibitors for entering and bringing your dogs for me to go over. All the exhibits had the correct bite for their breeds and were of sound temperaments.

Dogue de Bordeaux

Class 275 Open (1/1)

1st 342 McEnaney & Oldman’s Bravadogue Lord Claude ShCM. 3 year old Dog who was all male. He has a strong head with the correct stop and just the right amount of wrinkle of the forehead. Broad jaw, well muscled cheeks and thick flews. He has a cheeky expression and is full of confidence. Very strong, muscular neck into good lay of shoulder. He has excellent bone, a deep, capacious chest and well sprung ribs. Well muscled loin and hinds with a good bend of stifle and strong hocks. Excellent condition throughout, can see he is a powerful dog. Sound on the move with a good driving action. He stood alone but is a lovely example so pleased to award him Best of Breed.

German Pinscher

Class 277 Special Yearling (1/2)

1st 345 Ellis’ Unforgettably Karismactic for Falkor (IMP ITA). Delightfully feminine 19 month old Black and Tan Bitch. Beautiful head and expression, so elegant yet strong and of the correct wedged shape. Dark, sparkling eyes and correctly set ears which she used well. Well arched neck into good lay of shoulder. Front is developing well, nice amount of bone for her size and excellent cat feet. Good depth to chest with good ribbing. Strong topline with correct tailset and carriage. Nice bend of stifle with musculature coming along well. She moved extremely well, with a strong driving action. She pushed the older Bitch all the way in the challenge, I would be very interested to see how she develops. RBOB.

Class 278 Limit (1/2)

1st 343 Ellis’ Nettle’s Londonderry for Falkor (IMP FIN). Impressive 4 year old Red Male. He makes a very striking outline on the stand with his masculine head and impressive muscling. Strong head but not coarse in any way. Good eye colour and correct ear set. Excellent neck into well muscled shoulders. Good amount of bone and nice, tight feet. Good depth of chest and excellent ribcage. Rear angles are balanced with the front. He is in excellent condition throughout. Unfortunately he lost out to the girls on movement as he was overreaching therefore throwing off his balance.

Class 279 Open (1/2)

1st 344 Ellis’ Goodsouls Rumour Has It It’s Falkor. Stunning 2 year old Red Bitch who epitomised the breed, for me. Feminine head with such an alert expression from her dark eyes. Elegant neck, well laid shoulders and well developed front. Great bone and lovely cat feet. Correct depth of chest and well sprung ribs. She has a strong topline both standing and when moving. Good bend of stifle with well muscled hinds and sturdy hocks. She really sparkled when on the move, covering the ground well with real freedom and agility. Excellent reach and drive with an accurate footfall from all angles. Best of Breed.

Leonberger

Class 293 Special Yearling (1/2)

1st 357 Davies’ Alfross Kapuko Aelius. I could have taken this cheeky boy home with me. So full of attitude and loving life, he made me smile from the minute he walked in. 19 months old and clearly male. Strong head with excellent expression from his dark eyes. Good length of muzzle and moderate stop. Good pigmentation throughout. Excellent neck into well laid shoulders. Good length to upper arm and tight elbows. Moderate rear angulation with muscles developing well and strong hocks. His enthusiasm got the better of him when he started moving however, when he settled, he covered the ground effortlessly with a rhythmic gait. Pleased to award him Best of Breed.

Rottweiler

Class 300 Puppy (1/1)

1st 368 Yates-Johnson’s Whisperdown All Together to Pendley. What a prospect this 10 month old Bitch is. Excellent head and expression, the darkest of eyes, strong jaw and makes good use of her ears. She is obviously female but does not lack for substance. Strong, muscular neck into good lay of shoulder and her front is developing well for her age. Elbows tight to well sprung ribs. Sturdy pasterns and excellent feet. She has a level topline and the correct tailset with good carriage. Nice rear angulation and already well muscled with good strength in her hocks. Moved with great drive and athleticism. I will watch her career with interest. Best Puppy in Breed.

Class 301 Special Yearling (1/2)

1st 365 Gayler’s Silver Stunner. Very raw baby of just 7 months. Another with a feminine head and excellent eye colour, she was flying her ears today which did affect her expression. Strong neck, decent lay of shoulder, well off for bone and tight feet. Good ribbing and strong topline. Has the correct tailset but carries her tail slightly curled at the end. Good rear angulation and muscling is developing. She moved very well with reach and drive. She needs time and some more training to really show herself off to her best.

Class 302 Limit (2/2)

1st 363 Evans’ Paloduro Gold Dollar at Maddicass JW ShCM. 2 year old male I have judged before. Strong and masculine with a fantastic temperament. Broad head, dark eyes, with good length and depth of muzzle. Well muscled neck, good shoulders and excellent forechest. Strong fores with good pasterns and feet. Excellent ribbing and topline. Correct tailset and good carriage. Really well muscled hinds with excellent width of thigh and strong hocks. In fantastic condition and he moved with great drive. I feel he needs more time to fully develop, which I would expect from a slow maturing breed.

2nd 365 Gayler’s Silver Stunner. As above.

Class 303 Open (2/3)

1st 366 Tuttle’s Falkors Wicked Secret. 4 year old Bitch in the prime of life. Fantastic outline on the stand, ideal size for a female. Pretty yet strong head with extremely dark eyes and excellent pigmentation. Good length and depth of muzzle, ears are correctly set and she used them well. Good length of neck and front angulation. Nice amount of bone and excellent, tight feet. Well sprung ribs and strong, level topline with a well muscled loin and the correct tailset. Balanced rear angulation with excellent second thigh and sturdy hocks. Best mover of the day, she had a real driving action with a great length of stride and correct footfall. Pleased to award her Best of Breed.

2nd 364 Franklin’s Nageem Haribo at Haccasbrook ShCM ShCEx. Another I have judged before, when he was a youngster, I remember thinking he would be an imposing adult and I was right. 4 years old now and what a hunk he is. Powerful, upstanding and extremely confident. Masculine head with a broad skull, dark eyes, good stop and strong jaw. Excellent neck, correct shoulders and well angled front. Plenty of bone, great feet. Good ribcage and level topline. Balanced in his rear angles and his muscling is so impressive. His movement is powerful and athletic however he would definitely benefit from a bigger ring as he couldn’t really show off his length of stride here and therefore was outmoved by the bitch. RBOB.
