Thank you very much to the committee for the invitation to judge at your well run show, also thanks to my steward, Emma, for your help and to the exhibitors for your entries.
All dogs entered were presented well, with the correct bite for their breeds and good temperaments.
Great Dane
Class 111 – Puppy (1/1)
1st 144 Pocock’s Tamzdane Cinndoughrella. 10 month old harlequin bitch. Nice sized, making a good outline on the stand. Strong yet feminine head with the correct balance of muzzle to skull. She had correct sized ears which she used well to give an alert expression. Excellent length of neck into good shoulders, straight fores with plenty of bone. Her body is developing well, she has a nice amount of forechest, ribs to elbows with a strong loin. Good topline and tailset. She is muscling up nicely for her age without being overdone in any way. Excellent turn of stifle balancing her front angulation well. Covered the ground with a great length of stride, pushed the older bitch hard in the challenge but just needs time to finish. RBOB.
Class 112 – Junior (1/2)
1st 144. As above.
Class 113 – Postgraduate (1/1)
1st 143 Mitchell’s Oldcharm Markus at Elsimba. Handsome 21 month old fawn dog, who was unmistakably male. Strong, broad head with the darkest of eyes. Good brow and chiselled cheeks, good ear set and carriage. Strong, long neck into muscular shoulders and excellent forechest. He has a great amount of bone without seeming overly heavy, straight fores and good feet. Deep chested with ribs to elbows, strong topline and good tuck up. His hinds are well muscled however he is slightly straight in stifle which caused him to move out wide when moving away.
Class 114 – Open (1/2)
1st Powley’s Garsak Wild at Heart at Danehaven. Feminine 4 year old fawn bitch who knew her job well. Beautiful face with dark eyes giving a kind expression. Well proportioned head with good brow, cheeks and jaw. She has a good length of neck, strong shoulders and a nice amount of forechest. The right amount of bone for her size, excellent cat feet. Well sprung ribs, strong topline and loin with good tuck up. Well developed second thigh, excellent turn of stifle and strong hocks. Covered the ground stylishly with a free driving action, pleased to award her Best of Breed.
Leonberger
Class 116 – Junior (1/1)
1st 146 Jubb’s Bavaruki Temo Lovato. Delightful 14 month old red bitch with such an endearing expression. Ultra-feminine without losing any substance. Typy head with the darkest of eyes. High set, medium ears which she used to advantage. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders with elbows close to ribs. She has the correct amount of bone for her size, strong pasterns and excellent feet. Deep chest with a good length of leg, strong topline and well muscled throughout. Moderate turn of stifle, balanced with her front angulation. Covered the ground with ease with good reach and drive. Finished with a nice coat. Nothing overdone, she needs a little more time to finish and I would be interested to see her when she is fully mature. RBOB.
Class 118 – Open (1/1)
1st 147 Studholme’s Leosrus We Will Remember for Kalzimar. 3 year old red dog with a striking masculine head. Full of breed type, dark eyes with a calmness about him that exuded confidence. Strong neck, into well laid, muscular shoulders. Good for bone with nice, tight feet. Deep chest but totally balanced with his length of leg. Firm, strong back and loin. Moderate rear angles with strong hocks and just so well muscled all through. In excellent coat considering the time of year, he was impressive on the stand but when he moved he showed his true athleticism, covering the ground easily and tracking correctly from all angles. Best of Breed.
Newfoundland
Class 120 – Junior (1/1)
1st 148 Adams’ Rodiveco Red Rum. What a character this 14 month old black dog is. So cheeky and endearing with a melting expression. Masculine, well developed head with the darkest of eyes and short, square muzzle. Strong neck, well muscled forequarters with excellent bone and elbows well let down. Large feet with correct webbing between toes. He has a nice depth to chest and good ribs. Broad loin, good topline and tailset. Strong, muscular hinds with good hocks enabling him to move freely around the ring. Just giving away a little to the maturity of the older bitch in the challenge but I loved him. RBOB.
Class 122 – Open (1/1)
1st 149 Furnell’s Bebecova Formation. 2 year old brown bitch who made a lovely outline. Feminine yet great substance, lovely head with intelligent expression. Strong neck, good shoulders, straight fores and nicely shaped feet. Deep chest, good ribbing with tight elbows that are well let down. She has a level topline which she held at all times. She has nicely angled rears with an excellent width of thigh, she is strong and well muscled throughout. Excellent reach and drive as she strides freely around the ring, showing great activity in her movement. Best of Breed.
Rottweiler
Class 123 – Puppy (1/1)
1st 153 Watts & Gibbard’s Whisperdown All The Rage at Jezeve. 8 month old athletic male. Full of himself and loving being the centre of attention, I couldn’t help but chuckle at him. Excellent, masculine head, dark eyes and he makes the best use of his ears. He has a good length of muzzle to skull. Strong neck, into good shoulders, his forechest is developing well and he has a good depth to his chest. Nice amount of bone and a great length of leg. Correct topline and tailset and he is muscling up well for his age. Good turn of stifle with strong hocks, he powered around the ring with real drive, pushing the older bitch all the way in the challenge. BP & RBOB.
Class 124 – Junior (2/2)
1st 154 Watts, Gibbard & Rivett’s Whisperdown All Of Me at Jezeve. Litter sister to the Puppy class winner and shares many of his qualities. She concentrates more on the job than her brother, displaying great focus and attentiveness to her handler. Feminine head, again with excellent muzzle to skull ratio and dark eyes. Good for bone, straight fores, tight feet and excellent length of leg. Her forechest isn’t as well developed as her littermate at this stage. She held her topline well and has the correct tailset and carriage. Nicely angled rear, with strong hocks. Such a positive mover, with a real drive which won her this class.
2nd 150 Lee & Hodgkin’s Canaza Lala’s Angel. 16 month old bitch of a heavier build than the winner. Loved her head and expression, she has dark eyes and rich mahogany markings. Strong neck and good front angles. Well off for bone, straight fores and good feet. Deep, capacious chest with good ribbing. Slightly shorter in leg than the winner. Strong topline and well muscled loin however her tail carriage is not her fortune. She does have a great bend of stifle and excellent width of thigh. She wasn’t quite as positive on the move as the winner.
Class 125 Postgraduate (1/1)
1st 150. As Above
Class 126 Open (1/2)
1st 152 Watts & Gibbard’s Jezeve Back To Black JW. Striking 3 year old bitch with an outstanding temperament. Unmistakably female yet full of substance and breed type. Such a balanced head with the darkest of eyes, well set ears giving the most intelligent expression. Well muscled neck and excellent lay of shoulder. Correct bone for her size, good forechest and depth of chest. Great length of leg, balancing out her overall shape. Strong loin with good underline, topline and tailset. Excellent rear angulation, width of thigh and strong hocks. In great, hard condition throughout and finished with a tight coat. Powerful, agile movement and she really did drive from behind, I could have watched her all day. Pleased to award her Best of Breed and later hear that she won the Group, very well deserved.
