22nd December 2019

Thank you to the committee for their invitation to judge at your friendly show and to Andy and Sue for stewarding. Thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for me. All exhibits were well presented with the correct bite. A couple of youngsters need a bit of training but temperaments were excellent.

Siberian Husky

Class 42 – Puppy (3/3)

1st 166 Copland’s Liareedon I’ve Got This. 7 month old Red/White Bitch. Pretty, foxy head which is well balanced with her outline. Soft expression and she uses her ears very well. Strong neck, into well laid shoulders. Nice amount of bone, good spring to pasterns and excellent, oval feet. Well ribbed, a touch long in loin but should balance when she grows up on her leg a bit more. Excellent rear angulation and strong hocks which she uses well on the move. She has a smooth gait, covering the ground well and tracking correctly.

2nd 165 Cepuliene’s Demidoff Grace Kelly. This 6 month old bitch was at her very first show. Although it’s all new to her, she was confident and unfazed by the environment which bodes well for her future. Feminine head with good use of her ears. Excellent neck into good front construction. Well off for bone with good feet. Nicely ribbed, muscling is coming along well. Good bend of stifle. As you would expect, she was a little erratic on the move but nevertheless she is sound and confident.

3rd 169 Cunningham’s Icebex Egyptian Zipper. Although third in the class, I really liked this bitch, she just needs confidence and I hope her owner keeps persisting with her as she is lovely.

Class 43 – Junior (3/5)

1st 171 Hughes’ Dream Come True Wilcza Dusza for Siberiadrift. Just loved this 17 month old agouti bitch. Medium in build, elegant without looking weak. Foxy head with chiselled features and keen expression. Excellent neck into strong shoulders and correct front angulation. She has the right amount of bone for her build, good pasterns and feet. Good ribbing, carried well back with a nice depth of chest. Level topline which she held on the move. Good underline with slight tuck up. Balanced all through with good rear angulation and nice muscling. Hocks well let down and defined. Being picky I would like her to body up a touch more over the ribs but she is young with plenty of time. Excellent movement, reaching forward with her head and driving from her hocks. Pushed hard today. RBOB.

2nd 164 Cepuliene’s Northerna Alabaster. A different type to the winner, this 9 month old male is striking to look at. Well grown and presenting himself with confidence. Masculine head with a cheeky expression. Strong neck into well muscled shoulders. Good bone and tight, oval feet. Ribs to elbows and good depth of chest. Strong topline and well muscled loin. Well balanced rear angulation with defined hocks. He is well muscled already for his age. He covered the ground with ease, it was a tough choice between him and the bitch for Best Puppy but, overall, I found him to be the more balanced of the two, I expect they will change places. Best Puppy in Breed and pleased to see him take Puppy Group 2.

3rd 169 Cunningham’s Icebex Egyptian Zipper.

Class 44 – Postgraduate (5/5)

1st 173 Johns’ Azgard Kapma for Alepenkye JW. This 2 year old silver/grey bitch is the epitome of fit for function. Elegant and feminine but not in any way lacking in substance. Her whole presentation is balanced. Medium, foxy head, keen expression and well pigmented all through. Sparkling eyes and she uses her high-set ears well. Arched neck into well laid shoulders which are firmly muscled. Correct front angulation with good width and depth of chest. Well boned fores, slight slope to pasterns and oval feet. Her ribs are well sprung but not impeding her forelegs when she moves. Her topline is level, she has a taut loin, good underline and a slight tuck up. Good rear angulation, hocks are well defined. She is in excellent, hard condition all through. She excels on the move; agile and flowing with great reach and drive. She tracks well fore and aft. Pleased to award her Best of Breed and she did me proud in the Group taking Group 4.

2nd 171 Hughes’ Dream Come True Wilcza Dusza for Siberiadrift. As above.

3rd 177 Sims’ Snowspeeder’s Anya Kuro.

Class 45 – Open (5/5)

1st 172 Hughes’ Siberiadrift Keep Forever JW ShCM. 3 year old Red bitch who is the ultimate showgirl. Balanced head with sweet expression, very attentive to her handler. Nice neck, excellent forequarters with a good chest. Well boned fores, with nice, tight feet. She has well sprung ribs with a level topline and good loin. Good rear angulation with well muscled thighs. She was in lovely coat condition. Her movement was active and rhythmic, she clearly knows her job and was presented beautifully. I just preferred the more workmanlike movement of the younger bitch.

2nd 168 Cunningham’s Icebex Show Me The Money. Powerful grey male, top size but well balanced. Excellent masculine head with intelligent expression. Ears set high and used well. Nice neck and shoulders and a very good depth of chest, plenty of heart room. Strong bone, straight fores and good spring of pastern with correct oval feet. Level topline when standing and moving. Rear angulation balanced with the front and he has plenty of muscle. Excellent driving action when he moved, he covered the ground well.

3rd 176 Sims’ Snowspeeder’s Kenobi.

Canadian Eskimo Dog

Class 47 – Junior (0/1)

Class 48 – Postgraduate (1/1)

1st 180 Croft & Bickerdike’s Akna Nymph at Koroyza. Absolutely cracking 2 year old, grey sable, bitch. Primitive, workmanlike, not flashy just honest and sound all through. Beautiful feminine head, large and wedge shaped but not heavy. Dark eyes and well pigmented. Short, strong neck into excellent shoulder placement. Her triceps are well muscled. Good bone and rounded feet. Capacious chest, nicely ribbed which are carried well back. Level topline and good underline. Powerful rear muscling, good bend of stifle and defined hocks. I could tell this girl works. Even in this small ring, her movement was athletic, ground covering with a fantastic driving action. I had no hesitation in awarding her Best of Breed.

Class 49 – Open (2/2)

1st 178 Byrne’s Harpan Charlotte Bay IR J CH BJCH. Grey bitch who presented a balanced outline when standing. Nice head, broad skull with inquisitive expression. Short neck, good shoulders and well constructed front. Well off for bone with nice round feet. Strong topline, good ribbing and short loin. Her rear angulation is excellent with a good bend of stifle. At just 20 months old she needs to muscle up all over, this will come with maturity and when she starts to work. She moved well in the small space but was outmoved in the challenge so had to settle for RBOB today.

2nd 179 Croft & Bickerdike’s Akna Ross at Koroyza. This 2 year old male is so stunning but he walked into the ring and I could almost see him chuckle to himself and say “not a chance”. He needs space. We know this breed is built for working and covering miles and miles. Obviously, this is an open show so we only have the small space which means, sadly, the big boys will be at a disadvantage. He makes such an imposing, square outline. Large head, broad and strong muzzle. Well muscled neck and shoulders. Excellent forehand and bone. Great feet. Level topline with powerfully muscled, short loin. Good rear angulation, again well muscled. All through he was in hard condition. He was erratic on the move and was pulling his head up which restricted his reach. If we were outdoors it could have been a different result but I had to judge what was in front of me on the day.

Dalmatians

Class 238 – Puppy (5/5)

1st 654 Sampson’s Dalstorm Golden Guinea. The very last puppy class for this handsome black spotted male. I judged him just four months ago and it’s fascinating to see how fast puppies change. My previous notes mentioned that he was loose in topline and, as I expected, this has firmed up. He is maturing beautifully, masculine head with the darkest of eyes. Nice neck, good lay of shoulder and strong forehand with good bone. He was slightly down on his pasterns today which caused his front feet to turn out but this is very minor and will correct as he strengthens. Nice forechest which is not overdone. Great ribbing, firm loin and well balanced rear angulation. Muscling is spot on for his age, and he is developing the second thigh nicely. His movement was fluid and strong with excellent drive. A happy showman who commands the ring. Well schooled and handled. Pleased to award him Best Puppy in Breed and hear that he took Puppy Group 3.

2nd 647 Croft’s Kalokairie’s Great Gatsby at Koroyza. Totally different type, this 8 month old liver male is going through the leggy stage but he is stunning. Masculine head, correct amber eye and the cheekiest expression. Excellent reach of neck into good shoulder placement and powerful forequarters. Well off for bone with tight feet. He needs his chest to drop a touch but he has plenty of heart room with ribs carried well back. Good strength to topline and loin. Balanced rear angulation, strong hocks and good muscling. He was hard work for his handler, who coped admirably. When he had his feet on the ground, his movement was rhythmic with good reach and drive. A tough decision between these two.

3rd 649 Hobbs & Whiting’s Guru S Nevskih Ostrovov at Rapanooey (IMP RUS).

Class 239 – Junior (3/3)

1st 654 Sampson’s Dalstorm Golden Guinea. As above.

2nd 650 McMillan’s Keiradal Captain Jack for Dalyance. Attractive, 14 month old, black male. Such a striking face with dark eyes and spotty muzzle. Good reach of neck, well balanced forequarters, good bone and feet. He needs his chest to drop and his ribs to fill out, which should come with age. He has a strong topline and correct tailset. Good turn of stifle with well developed second thigh. His movement is definitely where he excels; so accurate, with no wasted energy. He is a slow burner but, once he matures, he should be one to watch.

3rd 645 Chattaway’s Buzzbrook Spellbreaker

Class 240 – Postgraduate (0/1)

Class 241 – Open (3/5)

1st 648 Finlay’s Dalfin Actual Fact. The ultimate showman, this boldly spotted 2 year old black male has a real look-at-me attitude. I liked his outline on the stand. Clearly male, yet retaining the elegance we should be looking for in the breed. Dark eyes, well broken ears and sparkling expression. He has a good reach of neck into strong shoulders and well defined withers. Good bone, straight fores and nice cat feet. Ribs to elbows, which are set close, and plenty of heart room. His topline is level with a cleanly muscled loin. He has a great underline, giving him a shapely tuck up. Good rear angulation, strong hocks which he used to drive on the move. In hard condition all through. Tail carriage is not ideal however this does not impact his movement and certainly does not negate his other delightful qualities. He was active and ground covering on the move, tracking correctly from all angles. This boy could go all day. Pleased to award him Best of Breed, which the owner informed me was the final point needed for his Show Certificate of Excellence, an impressive accomplishment for one so young. I was also glad to hear that he took Utility Group 4.

2nd 644 Chattaway’s Shdally’s Dahlia. I just loved this beautiful 5 year old, black spotted bitch. Feminine head and expression with the darkest of eyes. Elegant neck into nicely balanced front construction. Good bone and tight feet. Excellent ribbing, carried well back with level topline and good loin. Nice bend of stifle with well defined hocks. She moved so well with an accurate footfall, keeping close to the ground so not wasting any energy. A quality bitch but, unfortunately, she is just carrying too much weight today. I feel her pain, as I too am a bitch who eats more than she should. RBOB.

3rd 651 Pawson’s Cragvallie Vinny’s Chance.
