Miniature Schnauzers

Puppy (3,1)

1st Lock & Dennings’ Lockenstox Opal Gem. Head developing nicely with cheeky expression. Equal lengths of skull to muzzle. Parallel head planes. Enough depth to muzzle and enough width for age. Ear set ok. Dark oval eyes. Neck a little shorter than ideal. Moderate lay to shoulders. Square in outline. Stifles could have more angulation. Tail is high set, but is inclined to angle too far forward. Moved soundly. Still in puppy coat. BP

2nd: Cherryman’s Philoma Johnny Come Lately. An honest mini. More mature in body and coat than 1st. Squarish in outline. Bit shorter through the head than I prefer and a little round in eye, though they are dark in colour. Topline firm. Moderate angle. Moved rather erratically.

Special Yearling (2,1)

1st: Lock & Dennings’ Lockenstox Myst Eke. Sister to 1st in puppy. Much leggier and rangier and showing less development of the chest. Cheeky enough expression. Muzzle slightly snipey at present. Angulation balanced fore and aft. Moved soundly in profile. Coat developing.

Post Graduate (3,1)

1st: Lock & Dennings’ Lockenstox Lightning. Quite nice for shape. Good size. Robust. Neck could be longer. Muzzle slightly snipey. Good for eyes and ears. Expression is keen. Shoulder and upper arm could be better angulated but were evenly matched at the rear. Topline firm. Square in outline. Tail rather squirrel like for me. Moved very tidily and precisely. Well presented.

2nd: Newcomb’s Hawkwellpark Goldfinger. Certainly, enjoying his day out. Eyes a little full. Cheeks rather too prominent. Leggy. Could do with the chest dropping. Tuck up slightly too much. Topline firm. Moderate angulation. Moved out and around very soundly.

Open (5,0)

1st: Cherryman’s Marnimica Mix ‘N’Match. Up to size and presents a pleasing picture. Dark eyes of oval shape. Skull flat enough. Enough length to the skull. Ears could perhaps be slightly higher set. Neck could have more length for me. Shoulders and upper arm moderately angulated. There is development to forechest and enough width. Topline firm and he is nice and square in outline. Indeed, he has a very eye-catching outline. Moderate turn to stifles. Tail is high set but at a slightly wrong angle. Excellent mover being sound fore and aft and shows a nice gait in profile. Very well handled and presented to BOB. Preferred the elegance of 2nd, but this one had the edge overall.

2nd: Allen’s Malenda Majalis. I really liked this bitch for size and shape. Enough length to head with flat skull. Correct dark eyes and high set ears. Enough reach to neck. Compact in body and square. Chest reaches the elbow and there is enough development of forechest. Best tail of the day for set and carriage. Moves very soundly and precisely. Too tubby on the day but shows some really good qualities and that placed her 2nd here. Had she been in condition, she could have pushed the winner much harder.

Bearded Collie

Special Yearling (2,1)

1st: Maher & Richardson’s Snowmead Simply Brilliant at Nadene. A good honest Beardie who was well presented here today. Square skull with enough breadth. Strong muzzle. Eyes set wide apart and large giving the desired expression. Moderate in angulation – a little more would have given more scope to profile gait. Topline firm and level. Enough depth to chest and good length through the ribcage. Stifles moderately turned. Tail set low and carried well on the move. Coat perhaps a little soft. Moved very soundly. BOB and later awarded Group 1 by the group judge.

Open (1,0)

1st: Elmy’s Haylane Everlasting Dream. Liked this bitch for size, make and shape. Head broad enough and muzzle has enough strength. Mouth not her fortune now with missing teeth. Moderate angulation. Topline not as strong and firm as 1st. Coat in beautiful condition and harsh to touch. Moved very soundly from all angles.

Any Variety Pastoral

Puppy (3.0) - A really good class.

1st Hudson’s Mellowdee Tickled Pink at Halfnhalf. OES. My star of the day. Super quality puppy who grabs your eye immediately for overall shape, make and showmanship. Head developing very nicely with enough size and squareness. Excellent angulation with very well laid shoulders, return of upper arm and well balanced at the rear. Body is short and developing well. Stands perhaps a tad high at withers at present, but she’s only a babe. Tail held well on the move. Lovely low set hocks. Superb mover, covering lots of ground and starting to show the characteristic roll. A very promising puppy indeed who I expect to do great things. BP

2nd: Down’s Elessar Royal Salute. Pem. Masculine head for age showing the degree of foxiness I expect. Eyes round and medium in size. Ears correct for shape and set. Good angles fore and aft. Enough depth and width to chest for age, and daylight underneath. Topline firm. Stifles well bent. Tail set on correctly and carried well on the move. Sound gait and extremely well presented..

3rd: Philpin’s Tudorlyn A Kind of Magic.

Special Yearling (3,1)

1st: Kennedy’s Oakcroft Aurora Dream of Magic. Sheltie. Pretty girl, not entirely enjoying her day. Quite good head shape but could have slightly more length. Parallel head planes. Eyes ok for shape. Ear set high and well carried. Soundly made. Moved with a light action.

Post Graduate (3,1)

1st Wynn’s Malaroc Crafty Copper. Too tall and leggy and slightly nervous. Attractive expression. Angulation moderate throughout. Topline firm. Sympathetically handled.

2nd: Ludlow’s Tudorlyn Golden Dreamer for Malina. Reasonably typey through the head which has enough length. Lovely eyes for shape and colour. Quite nicely angulated. Not really interested in the job at hand but what a lovely nature! Moved soundly enough. Coat needs some work though.

Open (4,2)

1st Dodd’s Ch Hurstfield Renen Vixen at Tanellis. Vallhund. A top quality exhibit here. Oozes quality and shows it off to perfection. Displays a blunt wedge. Medium size, dark eyes. Pointed ears of medium size and obviously mobile. Super neck. Excellent angulation fore and aft. Depth of chest correct and lowest point just behind forelegs. Firm topline. Slight tuck up. Harness marks evident, Tail held over the back. Superb mover from all angles. Stood out here. BOB

2nd: Philpin’s Sassari Snow for Tudorlyn. Rough Collie. Thought this was a nice bitch. Enough length through the head. Parallel head planes. Slight stop. Good shape and set to eyes. Slightly arched neck. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Firm topline. Good depth to chest. Good for bone. Stifles well bent. Tail well set. Presented in excellent condition and very well handled.

3rd: Ludlow’s Tudorlyn Misty Dreams for Malina.
