Aberystwyth & DCS Open Show

06/05/19

Thank you to the exhibitors for bringing your dogs and sportingly accepting me as your replacement judge at very short notice, and to the committee for making me so welcome, and finally thanks go to my very able and efficient steward who did a sterling job of keeping myself and the exhibitors organised.

Temperaments, presentation and mouths were very good in general.

It was very windy and so some exhibits were a little unsettled, there were unfortunately some lovely exhibits that were either unsound or lame on the day and therefore I could not put up.

Real quality class.

1st German Shepherd – Ch Lochurr Super Trouper At Brightmeadow ShCM, 7 ½ yo male, gold with black saddle, the first word on my notes was ‘wow’!  Just oozed breed type without exaggeration, a lovely balanced outline, masculine, longer than tall, typical head of good proportions, medium sized ears carried erect, dark eye with lively, intelligent expression,  good length of neck well set into well angulated shoulders, well boned, pasterns with slight forward slope, good depth of chest reaching to elbow with well sprung rib, strong loin, topline falling gently away to croup, correct hind angulation set off by a good width of thigh, round feet with well arched toes.  Moved freely with drive and ground covering length of stride that certainly belied his age.  Later found out he was the sire of my BOB and G1 winner.  Best Pastoral Veteran and later BVIS.

2nd Kitchen’s Highglade Angel of Dreams, Bearded Collie.

3rd Caul’s Ch Rhiwelli Topsi Tlws, Welsh Corgi (Cardigan).
