Yorkshire Gundog Club

The Yorkshire Gundog club

Sunday 27th October 2019

Thank you to the committee for the invite to judge pointers. A warm northern reception awaited. I would like to thank my stewards for their hard work. It was a shame there were many absentees but I was not disappointed, I was delighted with my winners, thank you to those exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs for me. It is always a joy and a privilege to judge my breed.

Pointer

Puppy (2/0)

1st Gordons Hawkfield Happy. Lem/W Pretty baby of good type. Pleasing head proportions with lots of work and a kind eye. Good Leathers. Clean through neck and good lay of shoulder, well angulated front . good depth of chest for age. Came into her own on the move, showing strong rear drive. 2nd Gordon & Howarth Hawkfield Jolly O/W litter brother to class winner. Another nice baby, well put together, gentle expression with dark pigment. Clean through neck and shoulders, good depth and well ribbed back. Moved well but not as together as 1st. Ive no doubt these two will be swapping places. Will watch both with interest.

Junior (4/3)

1st Oddie’s Sharnpilly Serendipity B/W 15month old bitch of nice type. Pleasing head proportions with good stop, kind eye, would prefer a touch more flew, good leathers. Well arched neck into clean shoulders. Front assembly allowed for good reach in action. Correct oval bone on good feet. Well ribbed back, pleasing expanse of second thigh with good length of tail. Moved out well. Declared RBOB.

Novice (5/3)

Same result as Puppy class.

Post Graduate (6/4)

1st Smiths Sniperay Lord Lambourne via Tzaziki . L/W male I have judged this young man before and gave him Best puppy, I was pleased to see how he’s matured. Having looked back at my critique for him two years ago, here are my words – ‘Liked this boy, good dark eye, nice head, good arch of neck and strong shoulders, correct oval bone, standing on good feet, good depth of chest, well ribbed, good turn of stifle. Nothing over done on this boy. Movement was a little erratic going away at times but pulled it together to win the class’. all of these points still stand but this time he moved out well and true. Pleased to award him BOB in a very strong challenge. 2nd Tobin & Moss’ Daviigdor Bee Wyched. Very nice L/W bitch, very pretty, good head proportions, enough dish and gentle expression. Clean through neck and shoulders. Good depth to chest and return of upper arm, well ribbed back and good sweep of stifle. Sadly something must have spooked her in the hall as she did not move to her advantage.

Open (4/4)

All absent.
