I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge their show. I always enjoy a trip over the island. The ferry trip over was lovely and watching the sun rising over the Solent was beautiful. Thank you to my stewards for ensuring the ring went smoothly. Thank you for your hospitality it was a lovely day. Thank you to all my exhibitors you gave me a lovely memorable day. 

German Shorthaired Pointer 

Post Graduate 

1st Legg’s Kavacanne Morgan a Feeling. Lovely 4 year old bitch. Well-muscled throughout. Good forchest and depth. Pleasing feminine head, Strong shoulders and good firm top line. Moves well covering the ground. 2nd Arkley’s Indijazz show girl. 7 year old solid bitch. Pleasing front, plenty of heart room and depth. Good strong topline. Sadly not shown to her advantage today. 

Open 

1st Smith’s Indijazz Young love at Abbeyaire. Well off for muscle tone and grace. Pleasing head and strong neck. Good front and return of upper arm. Well ribbed. Moved out well, held strong topline. BOB

Special Yearling 

1st Drake’s Fleurfield Moonflower with Clamerkin. Pretty O/W bitch. Pleasing well chiselled head, good leathers. Well balanced throughout and that was evident on the move. well sprung ribs, held strong topline, chest needs to drop. Correct oval bone, up on her pasterns, oval well knitted feet, well turned in stifle. Moved true. Very elegant young lady. RBOB

Post Graduate 

1st Drake’s Clamerkin Bohemian Queen Black and white bitch, Good head, pleasing dished appearance and stop. Good leathers. Muscular long neck, Clean through neck and shoulders. Good straight legs with correct oval bone, well knitted feet. Moved ok. 

Open 

1st Drake’s Ansona Queen of Hearts ShCM. A Black and white bitch I have judged before and she just keeps on giving, now a veteran and she just loves the show-ring. Pleasing head, corrected dished appearance, melting expression, good leathers. Well arched neck, pleasing shoulders, correct oval bone, well knitted feet. Good spring of rib well back and length of coupling. Well-turned stifle. A real series of graceful curves. She moved around the ring effortlessly driving from the rear. BOB. Pleased to see she was awarded Group 1 and Best in Show.

1st Miller & Millichamp Curlabull Dark Moon Rising at Wightcurls. Lovely 2 year old male. Desired wedge-shaped head with dark eye & kind expression, strong well boned front with good depth and return of upper arm, well placed shoulders, level topline, good rear angles & wide thighs, good coat texture. Moved with drive and purpose BOB. 2nd Miller & Millichamp Curlabull Iron Zion ShCM. 7 year old male. Kennel mate of 1st from the same breeder. Well balanced smart black dog of excellent breed type. Well-proportioned wedged shaped masculine head with kind dark eye. Well laid shoulders & good spring of rib, deep brisket, strong topline & loin, muscular hindquarters, presented well in a coat of tight curls. A lot to like about both males, however felt he did not move as purposeful as 1st. sadly had to settle for RBOB today.

1st Gallin’s Anguskye Tomorrows Dawn of Wightwind. Lovely classic outline on this young bitch. Full of rich coat. Pleasing head with a gentle expression and dark eye. Correct lay of shoulder, close fitting elbows, straight legs with good cat-like feet. Well ribbed back with strong loin. Well set tail coming straight off her back. Best mover on the day which won her the class and BOB. 2nd Anguskye Coco Crush another pleasing youngster. Well balanced head, broad skull, and gentle melting expression. Strong neck into good shoulders and front assembly with close fitting elbows. Strong topline. Well-muscled hindquarters with well bent stifles. Wasn’t as positive as 1st on the move. 

Post Graduate 

1st McCarthy’s Angusskye love of my life. Clean outline. Liked head and expression of this bitch. Well off for coat in dark colour. Strong front assembly of good depth and return, well ribbed. Straight legs with cat-like feet. Hindquarters strong and well bent. Moved ok. 2nd Gallin’s Tonara Annie Oakley at Wightwind. Overall a pleasing outline. Head of correct proportions and balance. Kind expression and eye. Good depth of chest, well ribbed. Lacked her jacket today. Moved ok.

1st McCarthy’s Anguskye My Golden Girl. Lovely 7 yr old bitch. Well balanced head, well chiselled. Gentle expression. Strong neck into pleasing front. Well off for coat. Correct lay of shoulder benefitting of close fitting elbows, straight legs with good cat-like feet. Well ribbed back with strong loin. Well bent hindquarters. Moved out well. RBOB

1st Blackley & Salero’s Cooleela Operation Dynamo. Square cobby Black dog, pleasing square muzzle, overall balanced head with sweet kind expression, dark tight eye, well chiselled. Muscular neck into well laid shoulders, front assembly well boned and straight, well developed chest, ribs well sprung, short in loin with good width, good rear quarters, stifle well bent, moved very merry keeping that strong straight topline. BOB 2nd Butler’s Manchela Genesis. Sweet merry baby of only 9months. Another well-constructed youngster, well balanced head with kind dark eye, moderate neck, well laid shoulders, strong straight forequarters, short in loin, good rear angulation, moved well, keeping strong straight topline. BP.

Post Graduate 

1st Butler’s Islanza Black Pearl. Cobby handsome blue dog with well-balanced head, square muzzle and kind dark eye, moderate muscled neck, deep chest, strong straight forequarters, well sprung ribs, short in loin, well rounded rear, good bend to stifle. Moved ok, gave his handler a hard time. 2nd Rackett’s Fleurbay Dream on. Square built dog, very well off for coat with pleasing well-balanced head and well chiselled skull, gentle expression, good front assembly, well ribbed and short in loin. Well-muscled rear quarters with good bend to stifle, strong topline held well on the move, moved ok.

Open 

1st Charbonnel Stop N’Glow at Charmwen. Lots to like about this pretty feminine lady. Well-balanced head and well chiselled skull, kind dark eye, square muzzle and distinct stop, well developed chest with strong straight forequarters, well sprung ribs, short firm loin of good width, Merry little mover. Lost out on BOB as didn’t move as purposeful in the challenge. RBOB. 2nd Blackley & Salero’s. Wightroache Huge Dunnit Lovely cobby built dog, very well off for coat. Pleasing well-balanced head and well chiselled skull, Kind expression, pleasing front assembly, well ribbed and short in loin. Well-muscled rear quarters with good bend to stifle, moved ok.

Cocker Spaniel (American) 

Special Yearling 

1st Walden’s Taramount Some like it hot. Well-developed head with chiselling, alert but soft expression. Fine leathers set on well. She was so well put together and took my eye. She was in lovely coat and condition. She moved with style around the ring she displayed her super neck and shoulders and hind angulation. Super puppy, showing lots of promise. BP & RBOB. 2nd Murray and McKenzie’s Totem De la Chance. Pleasing head and kind expression. Good lay of shoulder, compact feet. Clearly defined rear angles. Gave handler a hard time, needs a little confidence. Moved ok.

Open 

1st Murray and McKenzie’s Kellicious Nebraska Knight. Very smart Black dog, well off for coat, lovely profile outline, compact, yet oozed elegance. Clean neck and good front assembly, depth, well sprung ribs, flowing into a firm slightly sloping topline with a well set on and carried tail. Pleasing rear angulation, hocks well let down. Effortless on the move, driving from the rear holding topline. BOB. 2nd Walden’s Taramount Wot dreams may come ShCm. 5 year old dog. Pleasing head proportions with chiseling, long muscular neck, clean into shoulders, deep set chest, good bone, and compact feet. Well sprung ribs, strong loin, and good rear angles. Overall a well-balanced, compact dog another well off for coat. Lovely mover just preferred the movement of 1st.

1st Andrews and Trickett’s Erikachen Caoimhin For Aftonmarsh. Pleasing outline when stood, Alert kind eye, slight wedge shaped head, correct moderate stop. Strong neck flowing well into a firmly held topline. Well boned limbs, stood on tight feet. Well off for a lovely chestnut coat and in good condition. Moved at correct speed. BOB. 2nd Andrews and Trickett’s Asterlilly Tofino by Aftonmarsh. Overall well balanced youngster. Lovely alert masculine head, good wedge shape, kind eye. Super depth and development of front assembly. Well boned limbs and tight feet. Moved out well and true. A lovely pup. RBOB and BP 

Welsh Springer Spaniel.

Special Yearling 

1st Buckwell Killena Ghostrider. Well balanced, compact 2 year old dog. Good depth of chest, clean into well-developed shoulders and well angulated quarters, typical head, Correct bite, moved well fore and aft. Needs confidence to bring all his attributes together. BOB 

Post Graduate 

1st Buckwell Killena One nite Love affair. 2 year old bitch lovely head with soft, sweet expression, well balanced in head with well-defined stop. Nice straight front legs on firm cat-like feet. Good topline, Pleasing sweep of stifle hocks well let down. Unsettled, needs confidence. Moved out well. 

Open 

1st Racketts Islanza Spotless Duck (AI) 7 year old male, well balanced head, would prefer more defined stop. Ears set well on head, Kind eye. Correct bite. Clean into neck. Powerful shoulders, deep brisket, well sprung ribs. Good rear angles. Moved well. RBOB. 

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. 

Special Yearling 

1st Holbrook’s Vonnyisle Ice Princess. Very pretty youngster, well-marked Blenheim bitch in good coat. Feminine well balanced head with large dark round eyes giving that typical melting cavalier expression. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Well ribbed and short loin. Excellent topline and tail set. Good angulated hindquarters, hocks well let down. Moved out well, lovely free flowing gait. Lost out in challenge on maturity but lots to like about her. RBOB

Graduate

1st Vonnyisle Party Politics. 22 month old tri bitch, lovely head with good flat skull with good stop. Correct bite, dark kind eye, well set ears. Clean neck into well laid shoulders, well ribbed, Good hindquarters with well-turned stifle, quarters and topline, well set tail, in good coat.   

Open 

1st Cole’s Carolus Don Barzini. Blen 4 yr old male. Well balanced head with desired blen lozenge, typical melting cavalier expression, well cushioned muzzle, kind dark eyes, well set ears. Pleasing front assembly and lay of shoulder. Short body with excellent topline, well-turned hindquarters, hocks well let down. Shown in excellent coat condition. Moves well, would preferred him moved out a little more. BOB 2nd Taylor’s Hearthfriend Just James. 3yr old Blen male. Well balanced in side profile. Nice head, correct stop, good bite. Clean through neck and shoulders. Well ribbed. Good sweet of stifle and moved out well. Just not the head of 1st. 

Judge Kerry Roberts
