I would like to express my sincere thanks to the officers and committee for giving me this wonderful opportunity and made extra special as it was also my birthday.

Warm and friendly, quite like the old days, many congratulations your hard work certainly paid off.

Exhibits were all in excellent condition, temperaments, as expected, were fantastic.

I found quite a variety in types and the introduction of overseas lines is becoming more apparent.

Sadly, the flooring did affect some of the larger breeds movement, I tried my best to make allowances for this and not penalise those who were apprehensive.

The final line up for Best in Show quite simply blew me away and quite honestly, I felt humbled. So many top-class exhibits sent forward, congratulations.

BIS Whippet – Howgate & Hull’s -Palmik King of Clubs JW

Aptly named, he is royalty! Super balanced youngster excels in head, eye and ear placement. Correct shoulder & upper arm, good depth of chest & ribs well sprung, he has strength of loin & well-set quarters. A lovely reach going forward and drives well, poetry in motion. I am sure he will have top honours very soon, a star in the making.

RBIS Afghan – Youngs Saxonmill Mister Mister at Shirobana

Imposing Black with so much ring presence. Presented in beautiful coat and condition. Masculine head and dark eye. Adequate length of neck leading into well laid shoulders and return of upper arm. Excellent spring of rib and depth of chest. Short firm loin, level topline. Great length from hip to hock, ring tail. He really excelled on the move with good reach and drive powering round the ring.

BIS 3 – Basset Hound – Thexton’s Barrenger Harmony

This beautiful bitch is a good example that the breed continues to make progress away from exaggeration. She has a feminine head, good eye, well set ears of good length. Long neck into Well laid shoulders. Super body and rib. Level topline. Well-made rear moves so well in profile. Typy bitch who is unexaggerated, well made and sound.

BIS 4 – Std smooth Dachs – Hunt’s Lauralee Huckleberry Finn at Carpaccio JW

Std Smooth Dachs Lovely stylish boy oozes quality and is certainly showman. Glorious head and dark eye, super reach of neck well placed shoulders, ribbing carried well back. Excels in hind angulation used to great advantage on the move. Powered round the ring, never stopped showing.

BPIS - Beagle – Scarletts - Michelroy Pizzazz

Very promising attractive and showy youngster, feminine head, dark eye, sweet expression, lovely long leathers, good bone and very good feet, well balanced outline with lovely neck and topline, straight front and good angulation in quarters, sound steady mover showing reach and drive in profile. I am sure she will have a very bright future

RBPIS – Hamiltonstovare – Adey’s Caldecacre The Dazzler at Rubeusbay

Another delightful bitch with a detailed head of good balance, moderate stop, sweet expression which matched her temperament. well placed ears of good size. Clean unexaggerated balanced outline with good front assembly. Holds her topline at all times. correct colour and in good coat condition. Steady positive mover, she could keep going all day! Very Promising.

BPIS 3 – Whippet – Howgates Palmik Carousel

This baby is full of quality from head to tail. She has a flowing outline, deep ribbing and already strong in quarters. On the move, she was so true coming and going as well as in in profile, she covered the ground with ease, holding her topline beautifully. Yet again, a future star.

BPIS 4 – STD SH Dachs – Stark’s Adnerbs Won Vision of Gobannium

Smart youngster she already has many qualities. Feminine head and expression. Super reach of neck well placed shoulders; ribbing carried well back, neat underline with correct ground clearance, good bone and feet. Strong loin. Well angulated hindquarters keeping her topline at all times. Sound and effortless covering the ground well.

BVIS

Borzoi – Pinkertons Horseandhound Bellagio at Menigma.

As always from this kennel, put down in mint condition. Stylish gentleman who is still shapely, in good proportion and breed typical. He has an attractive head and kindest of expressions. Well-constructed true front and good width forequarters, firm and sturdy in body and good width stable hindquarters. Pleasing conformation with no part exaggeration, presenting an elegant natural picture stacked and on the move.

BLOODHOUND

Some lovely youngsters who were good examples of how the breed is improving considerably. They would, I ma sure, have been happier outside as the floor did cause them a few issues, however all were pleasing to go over.

1/ Griffiths- Houndseeker Alaric (ai)

Two-year-old male, still with plenty of scope. Nice feet, correct bite, good eyes and ear set, good length to leathers, Good strong top line. Well boned and muscled giving a good strong standing outline. Moved with power and drive, covering a lot of ground as best he could. Good tail carriage, coat in excellent condition. BOB

2/ Burnsides Houndseeker Bewitched (ai)

Enchanting baby, just six months old and enjoying every minute. Lovely clean eyes, nicely shaped head, long leathers, giving a very pleasing expression. Nice tight feet, good top line, strong hindquarters for her age. Her first show hope she continues as very promising.

1/ Burnsides Houndseeker Amethyst (ai)

Just two and maturing well. Nice length to ears, with a pleasing shaped head, clean eyes, correct bite. Good length to back with good top line, standing firm but not keen on the flooring. Did settle when moving and has a good outline in profile. Another good example of the breed.

2/ Burnsides El’s Don’t’t Be Cruel Od Hadiho Potoka At Houndseeker (imp)

Finer in proportion and would definitely be happier outside. Strong well made again with good head, eye and expression. Strong quarters and good tail set. All quality exhibits today. Thank you

BORZOI

Limit (2,1abs)

1/ Pinkerton’s Coverdale Volcanus at Menigma.

Beautiful five-year-old of the true Borzoi type, has taken his time reaching maturity. His head is well shaped with good expression. Correct adequately filled front, body and rear were all in keeping with the true borzoi type. He is sound in construction and movement, keeping his shape with elegance and style. BOB

Again, some really quality nice examples who struggled to give their best on this floor. Such a shame when it makes them unhappy, but they were still all of good type.

1/ Llewellyn’s Hunky-Dory Bowie at Kilbourne BOB

Nearly Two-year-old boy coped the best of all with the conditions. Upstanding quality male very well balanced with pleasing outline and good proportions. Masculine head, good pigment and well-set tidy ears. A well-made front, good bone, short pasterns and tidy feet with well arched toes. Well ribbed back with good top-line. Nice width of first and second thigh. Moved true and showed enough quality to gain BOB

1/ Lewis’s Neroche Juniper to Luckhurst

Feminine And typical, unexaggerated bitch with quality flat bone and substance. She has good balance and proportions giving her a correct outline. Well-proportioned head and correct, well set neck. Balanced, well-made forehand and hindquarters. She again would benefit from outside rings

2/ Llewellyn’s Kilbourne Mistress Martha at Matahari

Soundly made bitch of nice proportions. Soft typical expression, tidy ears. Well-made forehand, powerful, well-muscled loin and croup. Difficult to assess movement, though not her fault.

Masculine 3 ½ year dog with harsh dark coat and pleasing outline. Masculine head, good ear set. Good ribbing. Feet well made. Muscular hindquarters. Good length from hip to hock. A lot to like about him, and again, will be so much happier outside.

Smart young lad, just approaching 2 years, needs to fill in front, but had good head, well-marked and strong hind quarters. Good temperament carries his shape well on the move. Needs to mature to complete a more stallion look but pleasant enough.

Quality well shaped youngster, Good head and eye shape, good shoulders, excellent front assembly, held firm top and underline, excelled in hind angulation. Confident on the move holding a good shape all round promising baby.

2/ Clayton-Smith’s Wirehaired Dachs Cairparavel Kiss from a Rose

Smart young lady, plenty of presence and well put together, a real baby with promise. Feminine well-proportioned head, correct eye and gentle expression. Good length, decent top line. Excellent feet. Stacked she has a pleasing outline. Coat texture is good, should do well.

This young dog, just days out of puppy must surely be heading for great things.

Arrogant expression and carriage, beautiful flowing lines from his neck, into correct shoulders, excellent topline, well angulated. Well off for bone he has substance and elegance. Moves sound and true with real showmanship. Quality top drawer hound with a sparkling career ahead.

Another upstanding male, very mature for his tender two years. Super head carriage, strong masculine all round shape. Has size, with strong bone, holds his topline and moves with strength from the rear. Can only improve over the next year or so, very classic type.

2/ Haines Podengo Plushcourt Beacon of Light

Happy little showgirl. Nice size. Soft, gentle head with sweet expression. Good leathers. . Nice depth of chest. Level topline and correct tail set. Moved out well with good reach and drive. Good bend of stifle with well-muscled quarters.
