I very much enjoyed my day here at the Newbury Showground, my thanks to my hardworking stewards and the committee for a well-run show. Thanks also to the sporting exhibitors, I appreciated the opportunity to go over your dogs.

Dandie Dinmont Terrier

JD/B (1). 1st. Webber’s Lilyphanie Great Showman. RBOB. Smart 14mth Mustard D. A little wary of his surroundings but kept everything in check to put on a good performance. Good for size and shape, particularly liked his coat which was very well presented. Lovely head with doleful eyes.  Good length to body, short legs, well developed thighs, moved well.

OD/B (3). 1st. Harcourt-Morris’s Dainty Dandies River Mersey At Lenacourt. BOB. A Pepper coloured D who won the class and BOB on his accurate movement. Good head properties, dark eye & correct bite. Lovely length of neck & body with correct topline, powerful rear which showed on the move. Coat not at its best but what there was is of good texture.

2nd. Harcourt-Morris’s Int Ch. Dainty Dandies Royal Dutch Emma For Lenacourt. Liked this B but she could not match the movement of the D today. Super head of strength but still feminine, glorious kind eyes, good neck & shoulders, super body condition, topped with an excellent coat. Just wish she would drive out more on the move.

3rd. Greening’s Cassencarrie Bertie Gee.

Jack Russell Terrier

JD/B (2, 1a) 1st. Jones’s Perfect Love Di Stutri At Lazerna (Imp Ita) BOB & BP 10mth Little stunner, quality head with which she won the breed today. Beautiful expressive eyes, good strength of muzzle & big teeth in a perfect scissor bite. Super neck and shoulders, straight legs, excellent length of body, good in rib easy to span. Good strength in thigh and excellent hocks. Body & Coat in superb condition. Moved soundly with purpose. One I would be proud to own, she should bring you much fun in the ring.

OD/B (1) 1st. Robertson & Huseby’s Hunter Hawk Miss Gold (ATC AV02863NOR) RBOB. 17mth B. Free standing & looking a picture. Lovely for size & shape, good forequarters, firm in body & good strength to hindquarters. Coat just coming on. Moving as one with her handler.

Parson Russell Terrier

JD/B (2,1a) 1st. Newport’s Cudweed’s Master of The Hounds. BOB & BP So aptly named, looks like he could run with the hounds. So well handled to get the best out of him, stood four square, easy to see how well made he is. Quality head, neat ears, well-shaped eye, good bite. Muscular neck, super shoulders, straight front, spannable firm & lean body, excellent rear quarters. Excellent texture to jacket. Moved soundly paying attention to his hander.

OD/B (6,4a) 1st. Newport’s Digaden Tip Top RBOB. A well-balanced smooth B, presenting a super outline, her head could carry more strength of muzzle for me, but she has a good skull, neat ears, expressive eyes & a good bite. Good quarters fore & aft, in very good body condition, moving well.

2nd. Harcourt-Morris’s Kylini Primadiva For Lenacourt. Lovely balance to head, with the most expressive eyes, ears a little flyaway, good bite & strength of muzzle. Straight front, spannable body & good hindquarters. Moved well.

Special Beginners Stakes (37, 19a)

1st. Horn’s Droveborough’s Smooth Mover. Pointer.  This young Orange & White D took my eye as soon as he entered the ring, his handler piloted him around this smallish ring to get the best out of him. He moved soundly with purpose. A super masculine head, good forequarters, good width & depth to chest, good rear angulation, sleek well-muscled  giving an impression of power and elegance.

2nd. Hall’s Balgay Kitang Po. Tibetan Spaniel. Another one who showed his socks off at one with his handler. Lovely masculine head, with kind dark eyes, well balanced with super top line, good tail, very good coat with ample furnishings. Moving straight & true.

3rd. Rodgers’s Lorecon Daybreak At Lunafox. SFT. Good head, length of neck leading to well placed shoulders, level topline, good legs & feet. Moved positively.
