Camberley & District Canine Society        Sunday 17th November 2019

Many thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge this friendly and well organised show. Also thanks to my very friendly and efficient steward, Mike. All dogs had correct bites. Sadly, this show clashed with a Golden Retriever Champ Show. In the Golden Retrievers, tail carriage, particularly on the move, still is an area of concern. With Labrador Retrievers I still have concerns about the confusion between ‘excess weight’ and ‘strongly built’, ultimately leading to incorrect movement and lack of drive. Also, what has happened to the level top-line? On the plus side, despite there being no Puppy class for Labs, my Best Puppy, Metcalfe’s Baileydale Mrs Tiggywinkle went Gundog Puppy 1 & Res Best Puppy in Show.

Golden Retrievers:

Puppy: (2, 1.) Norris’ Fenpinque Magnum Opus at Molestream. Ten month old, pale golden dog. Symmetrical and balanced outline. Well chiselled head for a youngster, set on a good length of neck. Balanced in body, short coupled, with loin and legs strong and muscular and good second thighs. Nice cat-like feet. Moved with drive. Carrying a little too much weight for my personal liking. BP.

Yearling: (4, 4abs)

Post Graduate: (4, 1.)  1. Linfield’s Rosgar Esperenza at Tonara. Two year old, mid-gold bitch. A

well-presented symmetrical young lady. Nice balanced and well chiselled head with a kindly

expression. Well boned with straight forelegs and good lay back of shoulder. Short-coupled. Nicely

balanced construction. Well let down in hocks with well bent stifles. Nice feet. Level top-line with

level tail carriage. Moved with some drive but straight and true in both front and rear. Res BOB.  2.

Norris’ Fenpinque Magnum Opus at Molestream. 3. Hoare Nairne’s Loving Psalm

Limit: (3.)  1.Pounds-Longhurst’s Rosgar Dolly O’Dare Among Mossburn. My star of the day.

This well presented symmetrical and balanced 2 year old, mid golden bitch deserved her BOB and

GG4 today. A nice balanced and well chiselled head set on a good length of neck. Well boned with

well laid back shoulders and close fitting elbows. Short coupled with good deep ribs. Level top-line

with good level tail carriage especially on the move. Well-muscled hind quarters – from working –

which provided powerful drive. Good second thighs and well let down hocks. Nice cat-like feet

Moved straight and true with a good length of stride. 2. Norris’Fenpinque Magnum Opus at

Molestream. 3. Hoare’s Nairne’s Loving Psalm

Open Dog: (1.)  Norris’ Fenpinque Magnum Opus at Molestream

Open Bitch: (2, 2.)

Labrador Retrievers:

Junior:  (8. 1.)  A strong class, numerically and quality wise with a mix of Puppies and Juniors. 1. Longhurst’s Hurstmeon Bit Of A Pickle. 14 month old chocolate coloured bitch. Good natured, strongly built and short-coupled. Broad and deep through chest. Good broad skull with well-defined stop. Clean strong neck. Well-developed hindquarters and correct ‘otter tail’. Moved with more drive than second.  2.Ponsford’s Badgersleigh Ice Princess.13 month old yellow bitch. Strongly built with a good broad skull and well-defined stop. A clean, strong neck. Good width and depth of chest. Well-developed hind quarters. 3. Chapman’s Daisypatch Jelly Tot

Short coupled and strong. Well turned stifle and round compact feet. Desired ‘otter tail’. Free moving and covered the ground well. Well-deserved Res BOB.  2. Chapman’s Daisypatch Jelly Tot. Strongly built, 14 month old, yellow dog – 3rd in Junior class-. Good, broad skull with defined stop. Good clean neck and long sloping shoulders. Good width and depth of chest. Well-developed hindquarters.  3. King’s Linthwaite Excalibur JW.

Strongly built, short-coupled with a very good depth of chest and rib. Very kindly nature. Good broad skull and well-defined stop, with a clean, strong neck.
