BRACCO ITALIANO CLUB – LIMIT SHOW 10th February 2019

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge their friendly and well organised breed Limit show. I was very pleased with my principle winners but preferred the overall quality in the male classes which was reflected in my final awards. There were a few exhibits that I thought would gain higher honours on first examination but disappointed on the move, nevertheless some very pleasing youngsters that bodes well for the future of the breed.

PUPPY DOG (6)

1st Sanderson’s OWLSPOINT TROUBLE AGAIN. This was a quality class of puppies. My first place was a very promising youngster. Pleasing in head with lovely expression and correct head planes. Muscular neck with shoulders well laid back. Correct square body proportions, strong over loin and ample rear angulation. Very well off for bone and a confident mover for a youngster and handled to advantage. I expect he will do very well in the future. Just lost out in the challenge to the bitch for BPIS as not all together yet in front movement BPD.

2nd Kafno’s  POLCEVERAS VISCONTI. Another attractive youngster that scored in head, soft expression and with good median line and deep muzzle. Shoulders well laid and has good straight front. Needs to drop in chest, correct topline and ribs well sprung and has strong hindquarters. Not as settled on the move as my winner, just needs to bond with his handler, but a very promising puppy.

3RD Battersby’s OWLSPOINT HOLY TROUBLE

JUNIOR DOG (2)

1st Bridger’s PURDEX’S TORMUND GIANTSBANE.  A very strongly made young man, I would prefer him more refined in the head. He is heavily made throughout with a strong short neck with well muscled shoulders. Good depth to body and very well off for bone. Much more settled on the move in this his second class.

POST-GRAD DOG (4)

1st Sellwood’s JACK DI MONTERICCO (IMP ITA) A very well balanced and strongly made dog that is well off for bone and substance. Attractive head of good proportions and kind soft expression. Moderate length of neck, well laid shoulders and well muscled forequarters. Excellent body proportions with desired square appearance. Moved out well at one with his handler with a very powerful stride covering the ring well, proud of his tail on the move today.

2nd Takacs & Tacasne Furedi’s ECHO VENATOR D’URSUS A pleasing well balanced male of good size and outline .Correct head planes and soft expression, well chiselled underneath eye. Nicely made in front and matching rear angulation. Moved soundly both out and back.

3rd Fisher’ MANTELLO DI MONTERICCO (IMP ITA)

LIMIT DOG (1)

 1ST ECHO VENATOR D’URSUS  (repeat)

OPEN DOG (1)

Bartholomew’s OWLSPOINT TROUBLE SHOOTER FOR BARTHOLEYS. This was a lovely dog to go over with so much to like about him when stacked and could have easily have been my overall winner. Super head with lean cheeks and correct divergent planes. Good neck and shoulders and correct square outline. Deep in chest, correct length to ribcage and well balanced rear angles. Strong hocks and tight feet, however I would prefer a lower tail carriage. In the challenge he just lacked any enthusiasm on the move which cost him top honours. Res BD and Res BIS.

VETERAN DOG (1)

1st Turney’s BRACCANZA FABRIZIO.  Scored in head with desired divergent planes, kind eye and deep muzzle. To be critical I would prefer less dewlap. In profile he presents a desired square outline and has excellent balance throughout. Powerful neck flowing into strong shoulders and sound front assembly with well sprung ribs and deep chest. Correct rear angulation with good width between hocks. A very powerful and true moving dog with lovely head carriage and in true partnership with his handler. In great order for a veteran. Pleased to award him BD, BIS and BVIS.

SPECIAL WORKING DOG (1)

1st Parr’s BONARIO DAMASCUS. Plenty of work in head with good eye and expression. Shoulders well laid with good front assembly, deep in chest and well ribbed back. Moved out with purpose. A very fit dog but just lacked body weight and condition in the ring today.

PUPPY BITCH (5)

1st Critchley’s BRACCORIONS NEVER SAY NEVER This was my best class of the day. A top quality youngster with the best of heads, she has a lovely expression with correct head planes, occiput well defined. Excellent shoulder placement with straight front assembly and adequate rear angulation and stood on strong hocks. Good square body shape and moved out confidently for a youngster with lovely head carriage. I am sure she will do well in the future and will fulfil her early promise. My pleasure to award her Res BB and BPIS.

2nd Whitney’s OWLSPOINT FAITH IN TROUBLE.  Another quality youngster showing lots of promise. Very attractive and feminine in head, lean cheeks and pronounced occiput. Correct earset with good leathers. Well ribbed and strong over loin with ample rear angulation, good feet and correct tailset. Moved out well with positive movement both out and back but tended to drop her head carriage on occasion.

3rd Harrison’s OWLSPOINT ANGEL OF TROUBLE

JUNIOR BITCH (3)

1st Angus’ BRACCORIONS LIVIN IT UP AT SPARKENHOE I really liked this young bitch. Attractive head proportions with desired lean cheeks and good muzzle depth. Moderate neck length, well sprung ribcage and chest of good depth. Strong rear quarters with good width to thighs and strong hocks which gave her powerful and sound movement. Should do well with maturity.

2nd  OWLSPOINT FAITH IN TROUBLE (repeat)

3rd Sladden’s FEEL OF PRIDE EVA ELETTRA AT CANEMAMANS

POST-GRAD BITCH (1)

1st Turney’s BRACCIBROOK’S LEADING LADY. Feminine in head with good eye and kind expression. Has overall good body proportions with good shoulder placement. Found her lacking in rear movement and needs to be stronger on hocks.

LIMIT BITCH (3)

1st Turney’s DINGLI GEM PAX. Two very different bitches in this class. Pleasing in head proportions and expression. I liked her overall shape and balance with good rear angulation. Taller than my ideal but preferred the movement of my first place with good rear drive and correct head carriage to win this class.

2nd Critchley’s SAZMALLIN DOLLYWAGON PIKE.  Pleasing in body proportions and solidly made throughout. Correct forehand and well laid shoulders and has good bone. Ample rear angulation, but preferred the free movement of my winner

OPEN BITCH 2)

1st Powell’s MADRELIATH’S OMAGGIO. A bitch of overall good sound type, well balanced and presented a pleasing square outline. Good head planes, with good width to her foreface short in neck and has correct depth of chest. Would prefer more strength in rear quarters which cost her in the challenge.

2nd Coleman’s BONARIO ESPRIT. Strongly built bitch with good bone and substance. Would prefer more work in her head. Has correct spring of rib and well angulated rear quarters and stood on strong hocks.

VETERAN BITCH (3)

1st Parr’s BONARIO CHATELAINE. Loved the head and expression on this veteran. She has good eye colour with desired chiselling below. Strong neck leading into correct shoulder placement and adequate depth of chest. Ample rear angulation, strong over loin and correct tailset. Strode out freely totally enjoying her day.

2nd Powell’s BONARIO BURLESQUE Another pleasing bitch with correct head planes and good eye colour and correct earset. Well ribbed and good turn of stifle, not as tidy on front movement as my winner. She is in excellent order for her age, a credit to her owner.

3rd Coleman’s TRUDALE FIORE ARANCIONE

SPECIALWORKING BITCH (1)

1st Parr’s BONARIO FAGIANA   A very sound bitch of lovely type and substance. Scored in head with good width to foreface and correct planes. Presented a pleasing outline in profile once she settled. Good straight front with tight feet. Strong rear quarters, with muscular thighs and stood on strong hocks. A pleasure to watch her move out so true with correct head carriage and a powerful rear drive off strong hocks. Presented in hard muscular condition which was lacking in some of the bitches today. I understand she has little experience in the show ring but should do well with practice. BB
