I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge the 4th Open show for the Cirneco Dell’ Etna. A super breed, with lovely dogs and sporting exhibitors.

Puppy Dog (1,0)

1. McDonnell & Farleigh - Kinabula’s Milano At Triquetra

Very smart young dog, at only 8 months of age he has an imposing and shapely outline. Loved his keen and alert demeanour, being attentive to his handler. Top end for size, but his outline when stood is square and balanced and having the desired elegance yet being robust. Lovely head piece, lean and well chiselled, with a good length to the foreface, well placed and shaped eye, erect and correctly carried ears. His clean neck flowing seamlessly into a firm slightly sloping topline, enough depth for his age, and gentle underline. Liked his hindquarters as they have good width of thigh and a moderate bend of stifle. On the move showed his cheeky nature, just needing to finish tightening in front, lovely side gait with a springy step – BD & RBIS

Junior Dog (2,0)

Two nice young dogs

1. Mr & Mrs Warren - Kinabula’s Marocchino At Shantih

Lovely balance and outline to this 18 month old dog. He has a pleasing shape on the stack, showing off his square and flowing body lines. Quality head, with good length to the foreface, clean cheeks, well placed and shaped eye which tones well with the coat, well placed ears all giving an alert and kind expression. Good length of neck, straight front onto well knuckled feet. A firm topline, enough depth to the brisket and spring to the ribs, strong loin and nicely angulated hind quarters. A positive mover, a little lose in the pasterns, but true fore and aft - RBD

2. Mrs McDonnell - Kinabula’s Macchiato For Triquetra

Litter to brother to winner and close up, very similar in stamp, being a dog of good type with plenty to admire. He has an appealing head, masculine with good length, lean and clean, lovely alert expression. Clean neck with a slight arch, firm topline which he kept both standing and on the move, enough depth to the brisket, strong hindquarters. Not as clean in his front action today on the move as his brother, showing a typical profile action and in harmony with his handler

Post Graduate Dog (2,1)

1. Wolstenholme, Moughton, Connatty - Kinabula’s Troika At Dekris

Like the overall size and shape of this 3 year old dog, his outline shows to be square with a good length of leg and nicely balanced all through. His head has good proportions, with a good length of foreface, well shaped eye giving an attentive expression. Clean neck, with good depth to the brisket reaching to the elbow and good shape to the ribcage. He did have a tendency today to roach his topline. Strong and muscular hindquarters. Lovely profile movement, a little loose in front, but with good width and parallel behind.

Limit Dog (1,0)

1. Connatty, Moore, Moughton - Hadranensis Prince (Imp Ita)

Mature male coming up 3 years of age. Made from a slightly stronger mould, but with a lovely square outline, being robust and sturdy with enough refinement. His head is proportionate, just a little wider in backskull, kind and alert eye. He has a clean and strong neck flowing well into a firm well held topline. Liked his depth of brisket and nicely boned limbs. Moderate rear angulation with super muscle tone, giving the impression of being very fit and agile.

Open Dog (2,0)

1. Mrs Farleigh - Kinabula’s Tonioli

Upstanding 4 year old dog, who showed himself off with confidence. He has a pleasing outline, which is square with elegance and strength. Showing good overall balance and well proportioned. He has an appealing head, it is lean and clean cut with a good length and slight stop, well placed and alert eyes, erect parallel ears. Slightly arched neck, good depth of chest, and holding a firm slightly sloping topline. Hind quarters are moderate and well muscled. Moving with a typical side gait, lovely rear movement, not quite as clean in front, moving as one with his handler

2. Mrs McDonnell - Hadranensis Ardito (Imp Ita)

Another nice dog, liked him for his size, overall substance and masculinity. All male but elegant. He holds a shapely outline when stood, having a good length of leg and square in proportions. Lovely head piece, it is balanced and handsome, with good chiselling, lean and expressive. Clean neck and firm topline, good depth and gentle rise to the underline. Strong hindquarters in good muscle tone. He has a springy trot on the move, just moving a little wide behind today

Veteran Dog/Bitch (1,0)

1. Mrs Bailey - Anharbn The Colour Purple

No one has told this 8 year old bitch she is a veteran, full of beans which is lovely to see. Thought her to be just right for size and balance. She has a typical square outline and very elegant. Liked her balanced head shape, with those oh so alert eyes and keen for everything expression. Her body is well developed with the chest nearly to the elbow and nicely sprung ribs. She did have a tendency to roach her topline today, this may have been down to her zest for life attitude! She has a good hind action on the move being true and a spring in her step – Best Veteran in Show

Good Citizen Dog/Bitch (1,0)

1. Connatty & Moughton - Hadranensis Ulivo (Imp Ita)

A solid and workmanlike 5 year old dog. Thought him to have a typical and balanced outline, he is of a nice size and robust but in no way overdone. He has a super ring presence and attentive to his handler. His head shows good proportions, with length to the foreface and lean, kind intelligent eye, would prefer a better ear carriage. Strong muscular neck, chest down to the elbow, strong but elegant limbs, firm in topline, and well muscled hindquarters. Moving out true.

Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1. Mrs Farleigh - Kinabula’s Florentine

Pleasing 8 month old bitch, litter sister to BD. She has much to admire and many of the same attributes. Not quite as settled as yet, but time is on her side, an exciting prospect for the future. She has a lovely silhouette when stood, shapely and elegant with enough substance. Feminine head of good length, well chiselled with a good eye shape and colour. Good depth and correct ribbing, well held topline with a good rear quarters. Not as settled on the move today, holding her outline and good width behind

Junior Bitch (2,0)

Close decision between these two litter sisters

1. Mrs Farleigh - Kinabula’s Tute Sweet Mocha

18 months old with well balanced body lines. She is shapely and elegant with the squareness to her profile when stood. Feminine through and through from nose to tail. Lovely refined head, clean and lean, well positioned ears giving an alert expression. Having enough depth for her age, and correct amount of ribbing. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Moderate hindquarters and slender in bone, with well knuckled feet. Moving well in all directions. Considered for top honours

2. McDonnell & Farleigh - Kinabula’s Amoretta At Triquetra

Sister to winner, and close up with not much between them, both lovely bitches. Today the winner just holding a firmer topline, but it was knit picking! Liked her cheeky nature, quite a character. A smart bitch with good body proportions. She has a balanced head, lean and well chiselled, oval eyes, colour toning with coat and well placed ears. Enough depth for her age, moderate hindquarters with a good width of thigh and well muscled. Full of confidence on the move.

Post Graduate Bitch (1,0)

1. Mrs Ayling - Hadranensis Cher (Imp Ita)

Lots of character to this bitch who is coming up 3 years of age. Thought her to be well balanced all through and of the correct size and shape. She has slender bone combined with elegance, being alert and eager. Liked her well proportioned head, it is clean cut, with a good length to the foreface with well placed ears, correctly shaped eye with a hint of naughtiness! Good depth to the chest, holding a firm topline both stood and, on the move, moderate hindquarter with a good width of thigh and shown with firm musculature. Showing herself off on the move, not quite as clean in front as the BB today, but a sound and happy mover - RBB

Limit Bitch (1,0)

1. Mrs & Mrs Hill - Hadranensis Dory Fielgar (Imp Ita)

Liked the overall size of this 2 year old bitch, she is robust yet retaining her elegance. In profile she has a little more length to her loin, but feminine all through. Her head is well proportioned with a good length to the foreface with clean taut lips, with a kind oval eye. Muscular neck flowing into a firm topline, chest almost to the elbow, gentle underline and moderate hindquarters. Giving her handler a hard time on the move, kept crabbing and side winding, but you could see that she moved true, just needs to settle to show it off.

Open Bitch (2,1)

1. Mrs Farleigh - Kinabula’s Majolica

Super 3 year old bitch, just loved her. She has quality in abundance and so sound and clean throughout. Her body lines are graceful and elegant yet robust and workmanlike. Fell for her overall size, shape and femininity all in a neat package. She has the desired square outline, light construction but strength and muscular. Most feminine of head, with the correct planes, lean and clean cut, well placed and shaped eyes, erect and well carried ears. She has a flow from nose to tail, good depth and shape to the ribcage, firm slightly sloping topline, and well set on tail. Slender limbs onto oval knuckled feet. A pleasure to watch on the move, light and springy, and true fore and aft. Delighted to award her BB and ‘Best In Show’
