I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this friendly show. What fabulous rings we had, plenty of room for each dog to shine. A huge thank you to the exhibitors for venturing out on this damp and dreary day, delighted with the quality of dogs to judge

Cocker Spaniel

1. Mrs Sewell - Kerriglow Dream Again For Quattrozampe

Raw 6 month old black dog, showing lots of promise. At the moment seems to have done all his growing and needing to fill his frame, but it is all there and well balanced. He has a pleasing head, with kind dark eye. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline and well set on tail. Enough depth for his age and well boned limbs. A little erratic on the move at the moment, but time will be his friend - BP

Shapely 17 month old b/r bitch, who has a pleasing outline when stood being compact with good overall balance. A fraction stronger in the head, but well proportioned, with a lovely dark gentle eye. Clean neck flowing into a firm topline, enough depth, well boned legs and lovely tight feet. Liked her hindquarters which show a good bend of stifle and being short hock to heel. A happy mover

1. Mr & Mrs Hillier - Coedcernyw Calender Girl JW

Beautiful 18 month old golden bitch, who looked an absolute picture on the stack and did not disappoint on closer inspection. She is elegant and graceful yet compact and sturdy. Most feminine of heads, which is well balanced, with the desired chiselling and the most melting of expressions. She is well developed through the body with super depth to the ribcage and spring to the ribs, short coupled, firm topline, strong hindquarters. A delight to watch on the move, showing to be precise in all directions and with good drive. Put down in super coat and condition – BOB, delighted to award her Group 1 from a strong selection of dogs

2. Mrs Moutrey - Sunzo Songstar

2 year old golden bitch who has a shapely outline and pleasing to the eye. Liked her overall size, compactness and femininity. She has an appealing head, with good proportions, nicely squared muzzle, and kind dark eye. Good length of neck flowing into a well held topline. She has depth but not quite the spring to the ribs of the winner. Lovely bone, tight feet and shown in first class coat and condition. A typical merry cocker on the move

1. Mrs & Miss Jarman - Acquelin Double Fara Flare

6 year old b/r dog who has a natural presence about him and shows himself off with confidence. He has lovely body lines when stood, compact and well built. Masculine all through but not overdone. Handsome chiselled head, dark eye, and good depth to the flews. He has lovely development in the body, with good forechest, depth to the brisket and a well sprung ribcage. He moved out with drive, just a little untidy behind, extending well in front and showing his merry demeanour. Immaculately presented

2. Mrs Moutrey - Sunzo Sonatina

Beautifully presented in a gleaming coat this 5 year old black bitch pushed the winner all the way. She is so feminine with a balanced and compact outline. She has a quality head with an appealing expression, clean neck flowing into a firm topline. Nicely boned limbs and cat like feet. She has depth to the ribcage not quite the spring of winner. Well bent stifles and short hocks. Good driving action in profile

Attentive and outgoing 8 month old dog, with a clean and shapely outline when stood, everything just right for his age. Loved his overall balance and construction, having a lovely flow from nose to tail. Well moulded head, nothing overdone, lovely dark mischievous eyes. A good length of neck flowing seamlessly into a firm topline and well set on tail. Having enough depth for age, with super bone and well rounded feet. Strong hindquarter with a good width of thigh and bend of stifle. Moving out well in all directions - BP

2. Mrs Tagg - Empire Glory Black Brianta At Oiyou (Imp)

What a sweetie, so raw at just 6 months of age, she equipped herself well in the noisy hall. Thought her to be of a lovely size and overall shape. With the typical happy and confident outlook to life. She has a well shaped head, with a good length to the foreface, and keen dark eye. Clean neck, good depth for her age, firm topline, nice spring to the ribs and good development in the hindquarters. A little loose on the move, but true

Appealing 17 month old bitch liked her overall size substance and femininity. She has a clean outline with good substance but not overdone. She has a lovely head and expression from those dark eyes. A good length of neck flowing well into a firm topline. Well developed through the body, and a well turned stifle. Moving out true

Workmanlike 22 month old bitch, would not want anymore of her, but that said, she is in not overdone and is very feminine all through. She has a lovely flow, each part seamlessly flowing into the next. Her body lines are graceful but with the desired amount of substance. She has a balanced head, of good length and well moulded, kind and alert dark eye. Clean strong neck, super depth to the brisket and development of forechest. Firm topline, and standing on well boned limbs, feet well arched. Strong and muscular hindquarters which were used to advantage to drive around the ring – BOB

Coming up 9 years of age and looking in fine fettle. Medium sized bitch feminine all through and holding a shapely outline on the stack. Loved her attitude, so up for anything! Her head is of the correct proportions, with a lovely dark eye. She has super depth to the ribcage which are carried well back, nicely boned, with good hindquarters. Moving out with style and at one with her handler - RBOB

2. Ms Pingree - Castlerock Burning Love To Heathridge JW

Fun loving 3 year old dog, being quite the charmer. A smart dog who is well proportioned, just needing to fill his frame a little more. His outline shows good balance, and well boned limbs. Pleasing head, with good length to the foreface, and well filled in beneath the eyes. Strong neck flowing into a firm topline, body has enough depth, well developed hindquarters and in excellent muscle tone. Positive and driving on the move

1. Sandiford & Sutherland - Harbinger’s Highland Treasure (Imp)

8 month old dog, showing himself off with confidence and style. When stood he has good overall balance, with a lovely flow. His head at the moment is a little refined, but having enough depth and a lovely dark eye and a hint of mischief! He has a pleasing length of neck, enough depth for his age, nicely boned limbs, and well knuckled feet. Holding a firm topline stood and on the move. Pleasing length from hip to hock and good muscle tone. Showing good drive on the move – BP & Puppy GP3

Oh My, this 14 month old dog was so full of beans, providing his handler with a real challenge. Liked his overall size, shape and balance from what I could see of him!

What a difference a class makes! He had calmed and settled for this class and was able to show his virtues. He has a masculine head with good depth and strength, kind dark eye, and defined stop. His long neck flowing into well placed shoulders, enough depth, and nicely sprung ribs. Well boned limbs onto tight feet. Well developed hindquarters and short hock to heel. Holding his outline with a steady gait on the move. Advised later this was the last point for his JW, congratulations

2 year old bitch, she is feminine all through but having the desired strength, workmanlike and fit. She has a pleasing outline when stood. Typical head shape showing good balance and proportions, with the slight rounding to the back skull, good depth and gentle dark eye. Good development through the body. Coming alive on the move, showing true and driving movement

This young dog caught my eye, very mature for his 20 months of age. He is strong, fit and workmanlike. His confidence shines through, as he makes his presence felt. He has a balanced masculine head, strong neck with a lovely flow into his firmly held topline and well set on tail. Well developed forechest and deep through the ribcage. Moving out with style and true fore and aft, at one with his handler - BOB

2. Mr & Mrs Melville - Tsruhnova Tumnus JW

Very close up to winner, liked this 2 year old dog, thought he had an impressive outline, all male but not overdone. Liked his head, clean and balanced, and such a kind expression from those dark eyes. Strong neck, good depth, lovely bone, well knuckled feet, holding a firm topline falling away a little at the croup. Good length of hindquarters. Shown in super coat and condition. Great scope on the move - RBOB

1. Mrs & Miss Martin - Normbar Time Trial For Sunhouse (AI) (GWP)

Workmanlike 10 month old dog, thought him just right for size and balance. He has a calm and confident air about him, and so very smart. From his balanced head, showing a good length to the foreface, flowing into a well held topline and correct set on of tail. Chest down to the elbow with ribs carried well back. Well boned limbs onto compact feet. Liked his hindquarters, with a good width of thigh and bend to the stifle. Coat of good texture. Moving in harmony with his handler and purposefully – BP & Puppy Gp 1

Another lovely youngster, who pushed winner all the way. At only 6 months old this bitch is very pleasing to the eye and full of confidence. Liked her size, substance and femininity. She has an appealing head, with good width to the foreface. Strong neck, firm topline and lovely depth for one so young. Well developed hindquarters, well developed second thigh. Still needing to tighten on the move, but showing good drive

Cracking 14 month old L&W dog, has quality in abundance and lovely from any angle. He gives the impression of strength and power but nothing is overdone. Medium sized and muscular, looking fit for function. Masculine and well proportioned head, well furnished with a keen expression. Clean neck of good length flowing into a firmly held topline. Brisket down to the elbow, with a good length of ribcage. Super bone onto compact feet. Strong hindquarters. Shown with a good harsh coat. On the move he is positive and true – BOB & Group 4

2. Mrs Palumbo - Rainthyme Memory Keeper (SWD)

Wishing I had two first places to award. Just loved this 15 month old bitch, she is so rustic yet oozes style. She is just right for size, substance and femininity. She has the desired body proportions when stood. She has a pleasing and balanced head, strong neck, firm topline, well boned straight forelegs onto round tight feet. Hindquarters show a well developed second thigh. Moving at the typical brisk pace, lovely to see her moved on a loose lead

Stylish 22 month old L&W bitch, she has a clean and shapely outline when stacked. Liked her overall stamp and balance. Lovely feminine head, with a soft and gentle expression. Good length of neck, flowing well into a firm topline. She has a lovely spring to the ribs and short coupled. Well boned limbs and tight feet. She moves with good drive, not quite as clean in front, holding her outline with a happy action. Thought her to be well presented and in good coat.

Loved the happy and outgoing nature of this 2 year old dog. He has the desired substance and body, but also leg length to give an impressive outline. Typical masculine head, slight curve to the back skull, good width and depth to the muzzle, his expression is frowning and quizzical. His strong slightly arched neck flowing well into his topline, lovely depth to the brisket, development of forechest and spring to the ribs. Strong hindquarters which he used to move in a precise and positive fashion. - RBOB

2. Mrs Fleming - Chandhally Cockney Rebel (I Spinone)

Another with much to admire, 22 month old bitch, she is very smart just needing time to fill into herself to finish the picture. She has a lovely balanced head, with the correct planes, those oh so human eyes giving a loving expression. Good depth to the brisket, holding the typical topline both standing and on the move. Nicely boned limbs. Well developed rear, with a good bend of stifle and width of thigh. Coming into her own on the move, so true both fore and aft

Lovely 7 month old dog, so balanced all through with a good flow from nose to tail. Masculine clean cut head, with good width to backskull and eye toning with the coat. His strong neck flowing into a firm level topline, which was kept both standing and on the move. Chest is down to the elbow with a good spring of rib. Liked his hindquarters, showing a good bend of stifle and width to the thigh. A lovely mover, true and positive – Puppy Group 4

9 month old bitch, looking nicely balanced when stood. She has a feminine head, lovely dark expressive eyes, and attentive to her handler. Well bodied with depth of brisket and spring to the ribs. Holding a firm topline, lovely width to her quarters. Moving out with purpose not quite the precision of winner today

Strong neck, deep through the body and super spring to the ribs along with a well developed forechest. She holds the correct topline, showing the slight fall and rise which is held on the move. She has an excellent side gait, so effortless
