CAMBORNE REDRUTH CS – 17/02/2019

AV IMPORT, WSS, GOLDEN RETRIEVERS & STAKES

Thank you to the Officers & committee for giving me to opportunity to judge at this lovely show. A new venue for Cornwall & what a find it is. I just hope that everyone will keep this venue spotless to ensure that other societies may be able to take advantage of this superb building with so much space & natural light. On the whole although the entry was small; the quality of the exhibits presented bode well for the future.

AV IMPORT REGISTER – O 1st Smiths’ Cuidado Yikes Y’all (Imp HUN) Hungarian Pumi, 21 month old bitch, breed is a relatively new comer to the UK, liked her comical & inquisitive expression, just wished she showed her ears more to advantage which would complete a lovely ‘teddy bear’ look, she stands on a strong, muscular terrier like frame, in good coat with tidy feet, moved well, a smart youngster who should do well with more confidence.

WELSH SPRINGER SPANIELS – G 1st Bests’ Amblelight Ophelia, one I’ve watched from the ringside, love the balance of this 21 month old bitch; found her to be too masculine in the head for me but none the less she has good body proportions, lovely return of upper arm, good spring of rib, deep throughout, lovely coat & condition, on the move she showed lovely stride but let herself down with her extremely high tail carriage, such a shame as this spoilt the overall picture for me, with youth on her side she just pipped the veteran for BOB. OD abs; OB 1st Attwoods’ Kylowen Quillets, 11 year old well balanced girl of smaller frame, very feminine head, correct length of next, good front assembly, nice spring of rib, lovely coat colour despite her advanced years, best of tails sets with correct rise over the loin, adequate bend of stifle & neat feet, moved with purpose & enjoyed her day out. Pushed the G bitch hard for top honours. RBOB.

GOLDEN RETRIEVERS – G 1st Clunies’ Warrentor Caipirinha JW, 20 month old bitch with fabulous bone who oozes quality from her nose to the tip of her tail, softest of expressions with true kindness in her eyes & a cheeky grin to boot, correct scissor bite, good length of neck leading into a super front assembly, good spring of rib with plenty of depth to the chest, moderate length of loin which gave her lovely overall balance, correct bend of stifle & well let down hocks with the neatest of catlike feet, correct tail-set & length of tail which was carried well on the move, lovely rich golden coat & presented in super hard condition, this girl is certainly fit for function & could do a days’ work, on the move she demonstrated this by her precise effortless footfall, covering of the ground with super reach & drive, a joy to watch just lovely & could of taken her home. BOB delighted to see her win a well filled group & later take the top spot of Best in Show. Congratulations. 2nd Trickers’ Artemisia April Breeze, really liked this one & just a baby at 9 ½ months but shows promise, very pretty bitch, another with lovely proportions & not overdone in any way, good angulation fore & aft, when she settled on the move she covered the ground correctly & shows all the makings of a lovely bitch. BP & PG2; 3rd Narramores’ Bryonygem Braved Lad, . OD 1st Harry The Magician At Telanjan, mature boy of good quality who stood alone but none the less a worthy winner, for me he has a classical well chiselled head without coarseness, good bone & substance, he presented the correct balance throughout that I look for & gave a very good account of himself on the move, shown in full gleaming coat with good muscletone, a pleasure to judge & unlucky to meet my G winner in the final challenge, RBOB; OB 1st Sandbachs’ Trebell The Lavender Lady At Goldsand, 8 years young & in full bloom, another worthy winner who stood alone, gentle expression with correct earset, nice front angulation, correct topline which she held on the move, deep throughout, correct rear assembly, a good honest looking bitch who showed well on the day.

AV PUPPY STAKE (11,1) – 1st Landrys’ Royaldach’s Lovely Lottie, Min S/H Dachs, very pretty 7 month old b/ t bitch, very well made youngster with classical flowing lines, strong clean neck, low body & back of moderate length, good strong tidy feet, correct muscletone for age, used the whole ring & moved with style, elegance & attitude. 2nd Smiths’ Einajjar Moon Boy, Min Schnauzer, Really liked this youngster a lot, best example of this breed I’ve seen in a while, his head is his fortune showing lovely powerful lines without sign of courseness, correct scissor bite, strong reasonable length of neck set on good shoulders, fore chest developing nicely & has a good spring of rib, straight front legs, coat coming along well for one so young, strong well-made frame with hindquarters giving the desired slope, this completed a lovely profile when stood, on the move he gave his handler a hard time which ultimately cost him the class, I just loved the attitude & cockiness he presents, one to watch for the future just loved him! 3rd Daveys’ Kosmo Dogs Tuscany At Starsentinel (Imp Rus) St Bernard,

AV OPEN STAKE (18,3) – A lovely class just not enough prize cards on the day. 1st Players’ Granasil Piccolo At Anickily CKCS, smart 18 month old Ruby boy who caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring, lovely head proportions with correct scissor bite & the softest of expressions, moderate bone with a short coupled frame, well presented silky coat, using the full ring he moved freely with a lovely happy disposition; 2nd Scanlans’ Misty Holly Blues Brother Of Franmar ShCM, ASD, my notes say - a very smart dog, lovely alert, intelligent expression which commanded attention, full good quality coat but underneath there is a dog of good bone & construction, correct layback of shoulder with a decent depth of chest & lovely spring of rib, moderate bend of stifle & well let down hocks, tight tidy feet, firm level topline which he held on the move, covering the ground freely, mature & presented to advantage. 3rd Carters’ Bearhugs Courage, Newfoundland,
