My thanks must first go to the committee for inviting me to judge at this well supported show! I was delighted with my numerically strong entry across all 3 breeds I judged today, thank you to everyone who entered and also thanks to my steward for all of his help.
Pointer Puppy (2,0)
1) Walkling’s, Wilchrimane Tambuti with Kishwahili. This orange/white dog is so full of promise! He immediately appealed for his easy shape and good proportions. He possesses the most beautiful head with plenty of work it in for one so young. He has the required dish and correct shape of eye and thin, well-sized ears. Good reach of neck which flows onto a good layback of shoulder and the correct length/angle of upper arm. Scores in his well developed forechest and spring of rib for such a young dog. Strong topline, short loin and symmetrical hind action. Well set, beesting tail. His movement was so precise with plenty of reach and drive in profile, using his tail so well. I will follow this one with great interest! RBOB & BPIB.
2) Anthony’s, Jilony Viola. This black/white bitch scores in type and femininity. A little more compact and moderately angled than 1 but balanced. Loved her refined head and expression, again, plenty of work in it. Well bodied for age with a strong topline. Unfortunately, her most extrovert temperament made it difficult to assess her movement. A little more time and training will make her an interesting prospect.
Pointer Junior (2,0) – Really liked both of these dogs, both just at different stages!
1) Henshaw’s, Sharphilly Vice Versa with Peteshe. This black/white dog took my eye from the moment he walked into the ring. Once settled, he did not disappoint upon individual assessment. He is ultra typy with such a curvaceous outline, free from exaggeration. I loved the strength yet refinement in his head with good breadth of skull, obvious dish, correct shape of eye and good chiselling. Reachy neck onto a very good forehand assembly, particularly in his length and angle of upper arm. Decent forechest, strong topline with well sprung ribs and strong loin. Corresponding hind angulation with short, firm hocks. His movement is really is forte, precise going and coming with a scopy side gait showing great deportment and ring presence. He made the job look easy and the more I looked at him, the more he continued to appeal. Very pleased to award him BOB!
2) Layton’s, Joneva Born To Thrill. This orange/white dog is half brother to my winner with many similar attributes. Built on slightly bigger and rangier lines all through. This dog has a lot of quality from nose to tail with his curvaceous outline being of great appeal. I loved his head and expression and his balance of front and hind angulation. While he carries himself with such panache on the move and has an excellent tail carriage, I just felt my winner currently had the edge on maturity in body and firmness coming towards.
Pointer Post Graduate (6,1)
1) Henshaw’s, Sharphilly Vice Versa with Peteshe.
2) Layton’s, Joneva Born To Thrill.
3) Anthony’s, Jilony Iris.
Pointer Open (4,1)
1) Walkling’s, Flavio del Almojon at Kishwahili (Imp Esp). Having previously judged this orange/white dog as a youngster, I was curious to see how he had matured and I was not disappointed. He is a little more compact than my other class winners but his shape is so curvy with no exaggeration or shape edges. His head is of great appeal with good breadth of skull and required dish. His angulation both fore and aft is symmetrical with a strong topline and well set tail that he uses so enthusiastically. On the move, he was just a shade close going away but precise coming towards and his side gait shows good carriage with good reach and drive.
2) Collins’, Collholme John Paul. This black/white dog possessed more substance than 1 and is built on slightly heavier lines. He is so obviously masculine in head with a kind eye. Balanced angulation both fore/aft but needs to relax his topline when stacked. Very precise going/coming but felt he lacked the confidence that would improve his carriage and outline in profile.
3) Henshaw’s, Penbro Under Pressure with Peteshe.
GSP Puppy (7,2) – Lovely to see so many youngsters!
1) Hinchliff’s, Goosepoint Gambler. This 6 month old bitch ticked all the boxes today, another who I will be following with the greatest of interest. She immediately appealed for her super breed type, good proportions, excellent bone and static balance. Very feminine head, sweet expression with good shape and shade of eye. Reachy neck onto a very good forehand assembly and well developed forechest for age. She has the correct depth and spring of rib with promise of a good underline as she continues to grow and muscle up. Strong topline with good length to croup that falls away correctly. Excellent hind angulation with good breadth over her quarters in front and rear. Her front and hind action was so very precise and she showed great reach and drive in profile. Her carriage and performance was that of a much more seasoned dog which made her qualities so obvious. All of the above is wrapped up in a super coat! She pushed my very beautiful Open winner all the way, could not be denied RBOB as well as BPIB!
2) Staley’s, Jomeel Now I’m Here. This 10 month old bitch presents a very raw and slightly rangier picture at present but she still has time to body up with age. Very pretty head and expression with typical rise over the muzzle. Reachy neck onto a good forehand assembly with correctly developed depth of brisket for age. Firm topline and good length and angle of croup with correctly set tail. Well off for hind angulation. True coming & going but needs to learn to carry herself better in profile which is where 1 had the edge today. Good coat and overall she is very age appropriate.
3) Merritt’s, Sperant Pamplemousse .
GSP Junior (3,1)
1) Merritt’s, Sperant Pamplemousse. This bitch was 3rd in a good puppy class. Slightly bigger and longer cast overall. Sweet head & expression with a good reach of neck. Overall well made forehand assembly. Correct depth for age, strong topline onto a short but correctly angled croup. Well angulated hindquarters with good breadth over her hips. Steady and sound mover from all angles, decent coat.
2) Darch’s, Dockholmes Destiny. A very sweet young bitch, presented a little too heavy today, who will greatly benefit from more ring experience and training. Typical head, moderate but balanced angles fore/aft. Firm topline and a steady mover.
GSP Post Graduate (2,1)
1) Staley’s, Jomeel Midnight Rambler. A strong and upstanding male with a real presence about him. Such a masculine head with an excellent shape and shade of eye and rise over the muzzle. He is rather compact in body proportions with moderate but balanced angulation in front and rear. Strong topline and defined underline. He is such a precise mover both going and coming with such great carriage in profile, looked as if he could go all day!
GSP Open (5,1)
1) Peebles’, Keigame Belle Of All. Judged this bitch in 2018, my previous notes stated she needed to mature and I was so thrilled to see her return as the finished article! She has such flowing lines from nose to tail with an excellent outline with an athletic appearance. Her head is ultra feminine with super shape to muzzle. Her neck is of good length onto a well angled forehand assembly. Strong topline and well defined underline onto well made hindquarters with correct breadth all through. Her movement is precise, easy and commands your attention. Presented in hard condition with a good coat. Very pleased to award her BOB, congratulations!
2) Whiting’s, Ranger Two Rodale JW ShCM. A strong and imposing male with ample bone. Like my winner, he was presented in hard condition. Masculine head and expression. Love his flow of neck into well laid shoulders with correct return of upper arm. Good forechest, well sprung ribs with a strong topline. Slightly less hind angulation than 1 which tipped the scales in her favour. True coming and going and uses himself well in profile with good carriage.
3) Staley’s, Jomeel Monkey Wrench.
Weimaraner Puppy (3,1)
1) Mountain’s, Githoneal Winters Magic. This 6 month old bitch is very raw but has all the essentials to grow into. I liked her refined shape, correct proportions and proportionate bone. Very feminine head with well sized ears. Reachy neck into a correct, moderate forehand assembly. Good forechest for age. Firm topline, decent spring of rib for one so young with a strong loin. Symmetrical rear angulation. Once settled, she was very steady going and coming with good reach and drive in profile. Most promising, BPIB!
2) Finch’s, Silberliss Solitaire. From a larger and rangier mould than 1. Pretty head and expression. Lovely reach of neck but is slightly too heavy over her shoulders at the moment which tipped the scales in 1’s favour. Good spring and depth of rib for age. Well off for hind angulation. Steady mover from all angles.
Weimaraner Junior (1,0)
1) Finch’s, Silberliss Solitaire
Weimaraner Post Graduate (4,0)
1) Batty’s, Almoor Macey Grey JW. I really liked this bitch for her super type and proportions. Enough bone for her size with good breadth over her front and rear quarters. Truly aristocratic head with obvious femininity and good sized ears. Reachy neck onto an excellent lay back of shoulder and return of upper arm with well developed forechest. Needing to mature a little more in body but time should correct this. Strong topline with corresponding hind angulation and short hocks. She is accurate both going and coming with a really fluid, easy side gait holding her topline. I would love to see her again in a year, only beaten by her mother into RBOB!
2) Dobbs’, Oakswarren Ice Maiden. This bitch appealed for her required moderation all through. Slightly longer cast than 1 but with good length of leg for balance. Pretty, aristocratic head onto a good reach of neck. I would prefer a slightly better return of upper arm to be critical. Strong topline with well boned limbs and feet. Strong hindquarters with good breath. Sound both going and coming on the move, carrying herself well in profile.
3) Burgess’, Kalimor Olive for Nemrac.
Weimaraner Open (4,2)
1) Batty’s, Sh Ch. Edingorse Ethereal at Almoor JW ShCM. This bitch ticked all the boxes for me today, possessing super breed type and good proportions. Superb feminine head with that typical aristocratic expression. Her forehand assembly is textbook with excellent lay of shoulder and return of upper arm with well developed forechest and gun barrel straight forelegs with good feet. Excellent spring of rib and a strong topline and defined underline. Correct hind angulation and possessing super breadth over her quarters. She took her time to settle but she then exhibited accurate front and hind action with a scopy profile action and excellent carriage. Pipped her equally lovely daughter to the post on maturity to secure BOB, congratulations!
2) Finch’s, Int Sh Ch/Lux/Bel Ch. Deifstock Dandee Red ShCM. An imposing dog with such a striking outline. Slightly longer cast than my winner but possessed the correct length of foreleg. Masculine head with a defined stop and good sized ears. His good reach of neck flows into a correctly angulated forehand and well developed forechest. Excellent maturity through the body with a strong topline and loin. I would prefer slightly shorter hocks. Sound going and coming but did not use himself to full advantage on the go round.
