GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG

Puppy (1)

1. Spelman's Nikonis Lyra. Very promising eleven month old sable puppy bitch with a feminine head and well placed ears, although reluctant to use them. Good proportions and decent topline, well angulated without being over exaggerated. Shows a good side gait once settled into the job but still rather loose behind. Not co-operating with her handler but watched her later in the Puppy Group where she was more settled. Best Puppy.

Junior (3, 1)

1. Pucknell & Palmer's Nellinka Christmas Hades. Lovely temperament on this thirteen month old black and gold male, well built with plenty of bone. Masculine head, with well used ears, good reach of neck into a super topline, good angulation at both ends and moved with ease.

2. Allen's Deroaust Chenoa. Seventeen month old black and gold bitch, pretty head with well used ears, good dentition, straight in back, croup could be better, rather unsettled on the move and tends to pace at slower speeds.

Post Graduate (6, 2)

1. Austin's Deroausts Brough Superior. Pretty long coat bitch with a lovely head and expression. Good front angulation but pasterns could be firmer, good topline held on the move, outgoing temperament, very nice bitch. Reserve Best of Breed.

2. Milham's Shadowshack's Grand Promise. Strongly made four year old black and tan bitch with a strong but feminine head, well off for bone, held a good topline and moved well.

3. Thompson's Dragonburg Dark Knight.

Open (6, 2)

1. Lyons' Sonamus Titania. Shapely two year old black and tan bitch, feminine head and well used ears, would prefer a darker eye. A tad light in bone, good front and rear angulation, just preferrred the topline of the PG winner. Moved very well coming and going and showed a super side gait. Best of Breed.

2. Pucknell & Palmer's Nellinka Golden Pride. Steady five year old black and tan dog with a masculine head, very good bone, well angulated front and rear and held his topline well. Not quite the reach of (1) on the move.

3. Ferguson's Delnat Dacee at Tzarinc. Loved this six year old black and tan bitch, a real sweetie. Right out of coat, nicely made with good angulations but tended to pace. Super temperament.

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG

Puppy (4, 1)

1. Fagg's Dukeson Golden Fleece for Lynscot TAF. Almost eleven month old sable and white male. Super head and expression with well placed ears that he used to advantage, dark eyes, well filled underjaw, lovely front and outline, good length of back, well angulated both ends and moved very well for his age. Best Puppy and pleased to see him take Puppy Group 3.

2. Rutterford's Kelgrove Midsummer Blue at Stormhead. Seven month old blue merle baby boy, very pretty head with well used ears, lovely dark eyes, good underjaw. Well balanced throughout and moved well.

3. Straw's Dukeson Sweeter Than Wine

Junior (5, 1)

1. Hull's Mohnesees Dream Date of Lizmark. At just over a year old this sable and white male is maturing nicely. He has an attractive head with well used ears and dark eyes, good underjaw and his front is excellent, his outline is well balanced and he has enough bone. Moving very well. Reserve Best of Breed.

2. Straw's Dukeson Sweeter Than Wine. Had to be content with third in puppy but deserved this placing. She has a pretty head with well used ears and a good overall outline which is balanced. She has good angulation and moved well.

3. Riding's Achor's Surprise Blackberry Way for Torinska (IMP CHE).

Post Graduate (5, 1)

1. Whittington's Esterbon Three Kisses For Tighness JW. Two year old tricolour bitch, lovely head with dark eyes and well placed and used ears and a good underjaw. She has a good front and a lovely outline which was there for all to see as she was out of coat today, she holds a good topline and is well angulated. Moving nicely.

2. Sendall's Sendora Songbird. This not quite two year old blue merle bitch could not match the winner in head, being slightly unbalanced at this stage with a longer muzzle and a bit full in eye. She is a pretty colour and although a bit longer cast than (1) she scored on movement and was turned out well.

3. Gabrielczyk's Lalabay Fervidus (IMP POL). Smaller stamp of bitch with a pretty head and expression. Underjaw a bit lacking but overall she is well balanced.

Open (7, 3)

1. Rutterford's Evad Whougonnacall at Stormhead ShCM. This eight year old shaded sable male belies his years. He has a lovely head and expression, with an excellent underjaw and dark eyes. He has a good overall outline and holds his topline well. He has enough bone and he moved with ease, looking an absolute picture going round in his Sunday best outfit. Best of Breed.

2. Riding's Achor's Surprise Percy Polaris for Torinska (IMPCHE). Four year old blue merle male. Nice head with dark eyes, a good front and very good rear angulation, slightly longer cast than (1). Moved well.

3. Straw's Dukeson Keltic Dancer.

ROUGH COLLIE

Puppy (2)

1. Adams & Carlyon's Dycoshem Havasupai Wonder. Ten month old sable and white male. Masculine head with well used ears, good front, level topline, bit rangy at present, moving well. Reserve Best of Breed, Best Puppy and went on to take Puppy Group 4.

2. W/D Same owner's litter sister to winner, a bit more together at this stage than her brother but sadly withdrawn from class as limping.

Junior (3, 1)

1. Dinnadge's Trenley True Grit at Bellcot. Fourteen month old sable and white male, well off for bone, masculine head, ears a tad low set but used well, good front and held his topline, compact body and moved well. Best of Breed.

2. Arrowsmith's Saganan Dancing In The Dark. Fourteen month old tricolour bitch, pretty head with dark eyes and better ear set than (1) but longer in back, well angulated, in beautiful coat and condition. Reluctant to show off her virtues on the move.

Post Graduate (1)

1. Arrowsmith's Saganan Dancing In The Dark. Second in previous class, really not happy with the floor surface today which cost her RBOB. Shame.

Open (2, 2)

PUPPY STAKES (93)

1. Busby's Stanegate Leading Role at Zakby (Irish Water Spaniel). Upstanding eleven month old male with a super head, balanced outline and excellent angulation. Coat in superb condition, he moved out with ease and stood out even in this big class. One I shall watch with interest.

2. Ciumakova's Cinderella Tai Grandas (Pomeranian). So pretty, this seven month old orange bitch was as feminine as you can get and so full of character. Lovely outline with a coat in perfect condition and really owned the ring.

3. Gosnell's Katmistsky's Ann Again (NSDTR). Another seven month old bitch, compact in body and looks like she could work, moved with drive and held her topline.

VETERAN STAKES (39)

Probably one of the best classes I have ever had the privilege to judge.

1. Coldwell's Ch Zentaur Tee Tee Effen JW ShCM (Newfoundland). Brown bitch, outstanding for type and carried her nine years like a dog half her age. Still carrying a super coat and so well balanced, with such easy movement.

2. Rutterford's Ch Kelgrove Just Blue at Stormhead JW ShCM (Shetland Sheepdog). Almost eight year old quality blue merle male with a dreamy expression, so well balanced throughout and moving like a youngster. Shown in super coat and condition.

3. Pounds-Longhurst's Sh Ch Mossburn /eva Mindfool JW ShCM. (Golden Retriever). Nine year old bitch still carrying a super outline, gorgeous expression and looking fit for function.
