Day 1

JHA 6-11

(4, 1)

1. Maisie Allenby handing a dandie didmont. Quiet and calm young handler that blended in well with her charge. Dog was stood 4 square at all times and she maintained the golden rule throughout with very neat change of hands and shadowing. Showed the bite correctly when asked and corrected a foot I moved on the table. Pattern work was precise and correct.

2. Charlotte Hodgkinson-Rutherford handling a SWD. Polite young handler who said thankyou and consistently encouraged her dog throughout the class. She was able to show the bite and correctly switch hands/move around the dog in order to keep the golden rule. Pattern work was correct. Just needs to double check the dog is four square at all times and she is in line with the other handlers.

3. Summer Ladlow

JHA 12-16

1. Grace Brown handling a dandie didmont. Stood her dog square at all times and was able to correctly show the bite. Moved her dog at the correct pace throughout and with a good rapport. Be sure to listen to what pattern work is wanted and notice a change of leg on the table. Would’ve preferred the lead to be balled in hand and the shadowing done stood up to neaten the performance.

1. Emma Jolly handling an english cocker. Had her charge stood correctly at all times and maintained the golden rule throughout her performance, switching the lead neatly between hands. Correctly showed the bite and corrected a leg I moved on the table. Coped with an excitable dog well and communicated with him throughout.

2. Amanda Beresford handling a GSP. Very close decision in this class. Bite was shown correctly and the charge stood square at all times. Lines were straight and Amanda never got between me and the dog throughout, once again correctly using all four corners of her charge. Occasionally the hind legs of her dog were stood at an angle and the lead dangling, effecting the overall profile.

1. Debra Kay handling a jack russel. An overall clean performance with a dog that could prove difficult at times. Lead was constantly balled neatly in the hand and pattern work was straight. Excellent shadowing using all four corners of the dog done standing to give a clean outlook. Bite was shown correctly on the table despite a difficult dog, proving a persistent handler.

2. Sue Rodrigues handling a LH standard dachshund. I was impressed with the rapport between dog and handler. Sue’s charge was moved on a loose lead at a correct pace throughout the performance and consistently stood four square. Although the leg I moved on the table was corrected, unfortunately I was shown all of the teeth rather than just the bite as asked. Be careful not to break the golden rule when beginning pattern work and to return to the judges feet at the end of doing so.

Day 2

JHA 6-11

(4,1)

1. Francesca Wilson handling a spitz. An overall clean performance. Whilst at times her charge proved difficult, this young lady communicated with her dog well and made an effort to keep her stood four square. Whilst Francesca corrected the leg I moved on the table, she showed me the full set of teeth rather than the bite as asked. Pattern work was correct & shadowing attempted.

2. Layla Bolsover handling a Siberian husky. An excellent rapport between dog and handler, moving the dog at a correct pace throughout and aware of giving other exhibitors space. Teeth shown correctly. Always remember to start the pattern work at the judges feet & to stack your dog square.

JHA 12-16

(7,2)

1. Natalie Birkin handling a chinese crested. Pattern work was done correctly from my feet with straight lines. Dog was stood square at all times & Natalie always corrected any out of place feet. Correctly showed the bite and was able to keep the golden rule throughout the class.

2. Sophie Birkin handling a chinese crested. Both of these young ladies have clearly been taught how to handle well. Sophie also has correct pattern work and was able to switch hands to keep the golden rule. She corrected a moved foot on the table and showed me the bite as asked. At the end she lost out because her over all performance was not as clean , I would have preferred her to stack the dog.

Adult Handling 17-24

Adult Handling 25-50

1. Rachael Steel handling a shih tzu. Although windy, Rachael made sure her charge was groomed at all times. She used all four corners of the dog to shadow and her lead was held neatly throughout. Although the leg I moved was corrected on the table, unfortunately I was shown all of the teeth and not the bite as asked. Pattern work was correct and from my feet.

2. Shelley Skinner handling a rough collie. A clean performance adjusted well to an older dog who needed a slower pace. The bite was shown correctly and a leg I changed moved back into place. Lead was held neatly and shadowing was clean during her performance. Unfortunately lost out in the end as her pattern work was not as straight as 1.

Adult Handling 51+

(4,3)

1. Janet Melton handling a mini poodle. Janet stood her charge four square at all times. Her dog was moved at a correct pace throughout and the rapport between dog and handler was good. Bite was shown correctly. A good performance overall but pattern work needs to be done from the judges feet and the lead balled neatly in order to clean up the performance.
