I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at their show and to the exhibitors for their entries.

Basenji

Puppy (5)3

1st. Miss Hudson’s Tokaji moon Over Miami with Mutoko

A 7m old tri colour, showing the correct outline for the breed, high on the leg, balanced and in proportion, dark eyes, correctly set ears and the correct bite. Arched neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest, ribs carried well back and the correct topline. Moderate bend of stifle and hocks well let down, she moved with reach and drive, a very promising youngster, Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd. Miller & Lane’s Anteffa Steal my Sunshine.

An 8m old red and white bitch not as tall on the leg as the first placed bitch, head of the correct proportions, dark eyes, ears correctly set. Well laid shoulders, level back, deep chest, rear quarters strong with moderate bend of stifle, she moved a little erratically today.

3rd. Mrs Gaskell’s Memetuka Nice as Spice.

1st. Miller & Lane’s Antefaa lukuru Phoenix.

An 8-month-old red and white male, well developed for his age, masculine throughout, strong head proportions, well set ears, dark eyes and the correct bite. Strong arched neck, well laid shoulder blades, deep chest, well sprung ribcage and ribs carried well back. Correct length of loin and moderate bend of stifle. He moved with drive purpose.

2nd. Mrs Gaskell’s Memetuka Secret Smile.

A 7m old red and white bitch, feminine throughout, head of the correct proportions, pretty expression, dark eyes and the correct bite and dentition. Elegant neck, well laid shoulders and a level back, moderate bend of stifle and hocks well let down. She moved a little erratically today.

1st. Mrs Gaskell’s Memetuka Mad about the Boy.

A 7m old red and white male, showing excellent breed type, balanced and in proportion, head of the correct proportions, ears well set on, dark eyes and a strong muzzle. Long neck, well laid shoulders, short level back, deep chest and well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back. Moderate rear angulation, strode out in profile but a little loose coming on, needs to tighten.

1st. Hardy & Hallam’s CH Tokaji Klassic Trinity JW.

A 2-year-old tri coloured bitch, very impressed with her breed type and overall balance and correct proportions. A feminine head of the correct proportions, ears well set on, dark eyes and the correct bite, strong muzzle, elegant arched neck, well laid shoulder blades and upper arm. Deep chest, well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin. Moderate bend to her stifles and hocks well let down, correct feet, her movement was correct for the breed showing drive in profile, pleased to see she has won well previously, she took best of breed today but I must say she was pushed hard by the best puppy winner, pleased to find out that they are half sisters.

1st. Miss Pearson’s Armardio IM on Fire.

At just over 12 months old a quality bitch puppy, she impressed me with her overall balance and proportions, very typical for the breed, head of the correct proportions, dark eyes, correct bite, well arched muscular neck, well laid back shoulders, deep chest and well sprung ribcage, good clearance between chest and ground, topline correct, hindquarters well-muscled, well bent stifles, correct feet, her movement was sound and true with the correct tail carriage, good reach in front and drive from behind, no hesitation in awarding her BOB.

1st. Mrs Robinson’s Bushoby a New Daybreak.

A 2-year-old lemon and white bitch, I would have preferred more substance throughout, head ok, ears well set, strong muzzle and the correct bite. Correct topline, deep chest and well sprung ribcage, muscular quarters, her movement was very erratic and difficult to assess.

A 4-year-old bitch, of the correct type, head of the correct proportions, ears well set, dark eyes and a strong muzzle. Well boned throughout, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back, strong and powerful rear quarters, she moved soundly showing reach and drive in profile.

2nd. Mrs Robinson’s Bushoby the Architect.

A 4-year-old male, head of the correct proportions, excessive wrinkle over eyes, eyes dark and the correct bite. Well boned throughout, deep chest and well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back and strong muscular rear quarters, he moved steadily with reach and drive.

Puppy (2)

1st. Dawson’s Metel Avgusta Ala Azul at Stubbylee (IMP RUS).

An 8-month-old bitch, full of promise showing excellent breed type, ‘standing over a lot of ground’ balanced and in proportion. Head of the correct proportions, ears well set and carried correctly, dark eyes and the correct bite. Long elegant neck, correctly set on, well laid back shoulder blades and upper arms. Deep chest and ribs carried well back with the correct length of loin, topline correct with the required graceful curve, well angulated rear quarters, low set hocks, she moved effortlessly around the ring showing reach and drive from the rear, a very promising youngster and I was very pleased to award her Best Puppy.

2nd. Ms Rogerson’s Donskoi Baristinya.

A 9-month-old bitch, outline not typical at this stage and looking a little square in profile compared to the first placed puppy. Head of the correct proportions, ears well set and dark eyes. Neck of the correct length and well laid shoulders, correct topline, deep chest and well angulated rear quarters, her movement was sound and true.

1st. Dawson’s CH Stubbylee Prima Donna JW ShCM.

A 4-year-old White/Brindle bitch, showing obvious breed quality, balanced and in proportion, head long and lean of the correct proportions, ears correctly held, dark eyes, correct bite. Long well-muscled neck, well laid shoulder blades, deep brisket, ribcage carried well back, correct topline with the required curve. Strong rear quarters and well-muscled thighs, well bent stifles and low set hocks. She moved effortlessly around the ring showing reach and drive form the rear, very pleased to award her BOB.

1st. Mr & Mrs Price’s Sufayre Magnusson of Harecroft.

A 14-month-old male, showing the correct overall type, balanced and in proportion, head of the correct proportions, well set ears, dark eyes and the correct bite and dentition. Strong neck, well laid shoulders, deep brisket, ribcage moderately sprung, ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin and well angulated rear quarters. Unfortunately, he continually paced when moving and his movement was difficult to assess.

Mr & Mrs Price’s Sufayre Lydia of Harecroft (AI).

A 2-year-old bitch, typical outline for the breed, head correct with a feminine expression, dark eyes and the correct bite. Strong neck, well laid back shoulder blades, level back, deep chest and ribcage carried well back, correct length of loin. Well angulated rear quarters, low set hocks and her movement was sound and true, BOB.

1st. Mr & Mrs Brown’s Abracadabra Rjabina De Bergerac.

A 14-month-old male, well grown for his age being masculine throughout, head of the correct proportions, ears correctly set and mobile, flat skull and correct length of muzzle. Long lean neck, shoulders as they should be, short and steep, prominent breastbone, ribcage correct and a level back, rear quarters correct, long second thighs, good coat texture, movement showed reach and drive in profile, BOB.

1st. Mr & Mrs Brown’s Vladimir Rjabina De Bergerac.

A 4-year-old male, masculine throughout, flat skull and the correct length of muzzle, correct bite, long neck, shoulders correct for the breed, deep brisket, ribcage carried well back and the correct length of loin, level back, strong rear quarters and he moved with reach and drive.

2nd. Miss Hall’s CH/IR/GIB CH Afilador Pandemonium ShCM CW18 Anch18 CW19.

A 3-year-old bitch, lovely type, with the correct proportions throughout, feminine head, flat skull and the correct length of muzzle, correct bite and dentition. Long lean neck, correct lay of shoulders, depth of chest correct for the breed and ribcage carried well back with the correct length of loin, coat of the correct texture, rear quarters as they should be for the breed.

A bitch of obvious quality but her owner told me she had been upset today prior to this class and this showed as she was a little unsettled and although she moved soundly her tail was carried uncharacteristically low, she was not happy but coped well under the circumstances.

1st. Mrs T Maun’s Ned CH Bowerhinton Brouhaha.

A 3-year-old male, masculine with a breed typical outline, balanced and in proportion, wedge shaped head, correct ear set, dark eyes. Strong neck, shoulders well laid, short strong back deep chest, short strong loin. Strong rear quarters, correct feet, he moved with reach and drive in profile, BOB.

1st. Mr & Mrs Smith’s Ottaryx Quartz at Goldmarker.

A 13-month-old bitch, domed skull, ears long and set correctly, strong muzzle and the correct bite. Correct length of neck, well laid shoulder blades, deep chest, well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back, level topline and a strong loin. Stifles nicely bent and hocks well let down. She moved around the ring showing reach and drive.

2nd. Mr & Mrs Potter’s Ottaryx Quinevere.

Litter sister to the first placed bitch but was not as well behaved, similar qualities to her sister and feminine as she should be. Head of the correct proportions, long ears, well set-on, long neck, well laid shoulders, deep brisket, ribs well sprung and a level back, as her sister both of their coats were of the correct texture and very clean. Her movement wasn’t as steady but she is sound and true.

1st. Ms McConville’s Ottaryx Mulberry.

A 6-year-old mature bitch, lovely type, showing a balanced outline, strong throughout but still feminine, domed skull, eyes of the correct colour, ears long, strong muzzle and the correct bite. Powerful neck, well laid shoulder blades, deep brisket and well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back, level topline and strong rear quarters, coat clean and of the correct texture. She moved soundly coming and going and showed reach and drive in profile, BOB.

2nd. Ms McConville’s Ottaryx Ouzel.

A 4 ½ year old male, masculine and substantial throughout, head of the correct proportions, long ears, correct bite and a strong muzzle, strong neck, shoulders well laid back, level back deep chest and well sprung ribcage. Strong rear quarters, hocks well let down, he moved powerfully around the ring, well presented.

1st. Mr & Mrs Lloyd’s Doucai’s Helu Faruna Of Athanasius.

A 10-month-old bitch, Lovely type, balanced and in proportion, correct head shape being long and lean, ears well carried, correct eye shape and correct bite and dentition. Long lean neck, well laid shoulder blades, correct topline, deep chest and well sprung ribcage. Hindquarters strong with moderate bend of stifle, well knuckled feet, her movement was sound and true although a little loose in front coming on, should tighten with maturity, Best Puppy.

1st. Ashby & Cappelaere’s Kurriera Krystal Amethyst.

A 2-year-old bitch, showing a typical outline, balanced and in proportion, head of the correct proportions, erect ears, correct eye shape, strong muzzle and the correct bite and dentition. Long neck, shoulders well laid, deep brisket, well sprung ribcage, correct length of loin. Topline correct, rear quarters having the correct bend of stifle and good feet. Her movement was sound and true.

2nd. Mr & Mrs Lloyd’s Athanasius Astorte.

A 2 year old bitch not as substantial as the first placed bitch, head of the correct proportions, erect ears and correct length of muzzle, bite correct, long lean neck, well laid shoulder blades, level back, deep brisket, ribs well sprung, hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle, her profile movement was good but a little untidy coming on.

1st. Mr B Playfair’s Habiba RA Harmachis At Saqqara.

A 6-year-old male, mature and masculine throughout, head of the correct proportions, ears carried well, correct eye shape and bite, long strong neck, shoulder blades well laid back, level back, deep chest and ribcage well sprung, ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin. Hindquarters strong and powerful with the required moderate bend of stifle, He moved soundly showing reach and drive in profile, BOB.

A 4-year-old bitch not the substance of the first placed bitch, feminine head of the correct proportions, erect ears, and correct length of muzzle. Correct bite, long elegant neck, well laid shoulders, deep brisket, ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin. Rear quarters showing a moderate bend of stifle, good feet, she moved steadily with reach and drive in profile.
