Premier Open Show 14 September 2019

Thank you to the secretary and hard-working committee for their invitation to judge the gundog group. I enjoyed a super day with lovely dogs to go over. The weather was kind too so we could enjoy the sunshine outside which added to the lovely, friendly and yet competitive atmosphere. It was a pleasure to be with you at your first premier event.

Retriever (Golden)

Puppy 3. 2 abs

1. Giltsoff. Leighsham Ladram Buoy. Lovely young male of 11 months. Nice overall outline. Pleasing expression on a well-furnished head. Liked his well-proportioned body with enough substance for his age. Correct sloping shoulders, straight front legs, nice and muscular. Moved well. BP

Graduate 4.0

1. Richardson Catcombe Cut Above For Stormhayes Balanced bitch, feminine with clean lines fitting the standard well and combining strength and power with that symmetrical and kind appearance. Muscular loin and legs. Well let down and straight hocks. Tight feet. Powerful and good driving movement.

2. Fenn. Chalksville Highlander At Jandeburn ShCM Clean cut dog, good eye and ear set, good reach of neck and plenty of bone. Good depth of chest and stood proud. Well-bodied with good front and rear angulation. Moved ok.

3. Clunie. Warrentor Caipirinha JW

Limit 3.0

1. Bissell. Warrentor Tribute For Bisskids. Well-built throughout and presents a flowing and clean outline standing and on the move. Good head with typical outlook, reach of neck and shoulder to level topline . Well bodied and pleasing outline. Sound on the move.

2. Merrick Stormerick Constance. Another nice example of the breed. Feminine, pleasing head and eye and stands on good legs and tight feet. Good body shape and well-rounded hindquarters. Preferred the movement on 1 today though

1. Mace. Harry The Magician At Telanjan. Took my eye immediately. Balanced dog, clean lines fitting the standard well and combining strength and power with that symmetrical and kind appearance. Slightly shorter in body than 2. Strong and muscular loin and legs. Well let down and straight hocks. Powerful and good driving movement – true in front and rear. BoB; G3

2. Splash Of Class. At 22 months, feminine, well-constructed and presents a flowing and clean outline standing and on the move. Good head with typical outlook, reach of neck and shoulder Well bodied and pleasing outline. Sound on the move

3. Armitage. Warrentor Plum Duff Of Nakuru. So much to like about this one and so nice to go over . Strong well-made front, shorter reach of neck than 1 but in proportion. Deep chest and lovely side profile going around the ring. 1 had the clear edge on movement though

Post Graduate 3.1

1. Kerslake. Kuantan Cosworth Muscular and masculine dog. Presented in super condition. Good head with keen and alert expression, good reach of neck, correct length of athletic body, well sprung ribs and deep chest, balanced front and back. Moved really well using hindquarters to drive forward. BoB

2. Goord. Indeski Reagan. Feminine and well-constructed. Again, in proportion. Good breadth head, moderate stop and correct proportions from nose to skull. Well assembled forequarters, good shoulder placement. Movement ok, RBoB

Post Graduate 5.4

1. Hayman. Tikkidui Showman’s Dream. Sadly, stood alone but his expression presented as alert and intelligent. Not overdone at all. Correct head balance in proportion to body. Strong neck of correct length. Good shoulders, sloping nicely into a deep chest. Strong back with slightly tapering topline. Rear angles nicely formed. Moved well. RBoB

1. Cooves. Draketor Sea Shanty ShCM Upstanding 5 yo and so pleasing to the eye whichever way you looked at him! Well balanced standing, effortless on the move. Masculine head within the required proportions. Kind eye with lovely expression. Muscular hindquarters. Movement was flowing and true front and rear. Well-deserved BoB today.

2. Legg. Clandrift Dark Lady. Feminine but alert expression. Good breed type though and well balanced and correctly proportioned throughout. Flowing neck into deep chest. Body well ribbed up, nice rear angles and moved well.

1. Harries Dregheda If I Were Single. Well proportioned, feminine and nicely constructed. Correct head with kind expression. Long muscular neck with no throatiness. Enough fore chest. Good bone tight elbows. Strong, correctly angulated rear quarters with driving movement in profile with tail carried on a level with back. Moved purposefully around the ring Liked her a lot. BoB

1. Harries Myrna Loy Appealing and kind feminine head. Good shoulder placement, fore chest and width of chest. Correct reach of neck. Well laid back, sloping shoulders – lovely front angulation. Well bent stifles showing definition at the hocks. covering plenty of ground. Moved well. RBoB

Post Graduate 6.0

1. GSP. Mcilwayne. Winterwell Steppin Stones To Benoveor. Such a striking young lady noticed straight away on entering the ring. Stood perfectly. Pleasing expression on a well-furnished head. Really liked her well-proportioned body and lovely overall outline with enough substance for her age. Correct sloping shoulders, straight front legs, nice and muscular. A promising future ahead of her I feel. Super reach out on the move. RBoB; BP PG1

2. Spaniel (Am Cocker) Walden. Truly Yours Clear Magic For Taramount (Imp DNK) Stylish and well-balanced example of the breed. Full of quality, refined and well-chiselled head. Excellent ribbing and top-line, slope just perfect. Good rear angles, strong, well-let down hocks. Moved well.

3. GSP Serpa & Peters. Winterwell Piha At Pontopresa

1. Sp Water Dog. Sweet. Bondadosa Beach ShCM Upstanding and well-muscled dog, in proportion, well balanced, and presented a picture of strength and activity. Correct skull and muzzle proportions. Strong neck leading to well-laid shoulders. Elbows held close to body. Eyes full of intelligence and alertness. Good angulation front and rear. Strong mover too and won this class easily. A serious contender in the group challenge too. BoB G2

2. Am Cock. Luczynski. Baladeva Scarlet Letters For Kaanara ShCM ShCEx . Pleasing and biddable expression. Well balanced Correct head eye and ear set. Well laid-back shoulders leading to a correct topline. Deep chest and well-sprung rib. Good angulation and moved soundly but 1 had the edge today.

2. Am CS. Walden Fielgar Majestic Legend ShCM VW So Smart at 11 years with a good head and muzzle. Long and muscular neck, free from throatiness. Deep, clean shoulders, straight forelegs. Back sloping evenly. Well angled hindquarters. Moved well.
