Miss H A Upton

(Roydack)

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge here today, they provided me with a quality entry and a lovely sized ring for the gundogs to stretch their legs in. The sunshine being out was an added bonus.

AVNSC Gundog

Puppy (10:7)

1st  HEINAARON TOFANA DI ROZES (IMP FIN),  Bracco Italiano, a chestnut male full of breed type correct size and shape for the breed and a balanced picture. Masculine head of correct proportion with a gentle expression. Well boned and muscled up however, would prefer a little less weight on him. Nice clean outline with well rounded neck leading into good lay of shoulders, good amount of forechest, well ribbed up with deep chest. Strong rear angulation which he showed to his advantage when he settled on the move. Handler needs to work on presentation. Best AVNSC Puppy and Puppy Group 4

2nd SWANTONWOOD GOLD LEAF, Flat Coated Retriever , 11 month old, Pretty bitch who oozed confidence, she is with dark eye and correct head shape, the overall outline of this bitch was spoilt by handler. Well ribbed up with correct depth and length to the ribcage. Moved well with enthusiasm wagging her tail all the way round, I just preferred the strength in rear angulation to 1 today.

3rd TYRECHGYN BELIEVE YOU WILL AT CANEMAMANS, Bracco Italiano

Junior (9:2)

1st ZAKOVA HELLZ BELLS, German Shorthaired Pointer, that oozes breed type, well presented in immaculate condition, coat gleaming in the sunshine today. Masculine, full of energy and when you look at can tell he can work a whole day in the field.  Correct head proportions with an expression of mischievousness but still keeping the eye soft. Nice clean outline and completely balanced throughout. This boy showed he was made correctly by his reach from the front followed up by his strong driving action from his rear. Moved with purpose and drive covering the ground with ease and holding his topline. One I will be watching for in the future.

2nd SORBUS DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY, English Setter, a good quality Orange Belton male, very typey and nice to see no over exaggeration, presented in good coat and condition. Masculine head with soft expression, well ribbed up with plenty of depth to chest, well defined forechest, with straight front. Level topline which was kept on the move. Moved with purpose and covered the ground with drive and enthusiasm.

3rd SABISABI BLACKFOOT KIMI, American Cocker Spaniel

Post Grad (6:2)

1st BARLEYARCH SKYE AT LONGBARROW, German Shorthaired Pointer, Wow I have admired this bitch from the ringside and she did not disappoint. She isn’t the largest of girls but she is completely balanced throughout. Pretty head with gentle expression, very good neck, short back with level topline. Well angulated front and rear with nice tight feet (nails need cutting) moved around the ring with drive and enthusiasm and with the correct showgirl attitude to win her Best AVNSC Gundog and the Gundog Group.

Head of correct proportion to the body and an expression that made me smile. Correct length in neck and well muscled throughout, good angulation front and rear, moved well around the ring a real show girl.

2nd THANDIWE LAST TANGO OF TYMORA ShCM, Field Spaniel, a masculine field spaniel who was presented well, I would prefer a little less of him. Masculine head slightly longer in foreface than I prefer, nice expression and size of head correct to body proportions. Well boned and muscle in all the right places. Moved well.

3rd MANCHELA HUGO BOSS JW ShCM, Cocker Spaniel

AV GUNDOG VETERAN (12:3)

A class full of quality and showing the longevity of the gundog breeds.

1st SH CH/IR SH CH MOOLOU MINSTEREL AT HOOKWOOD JW ShCM, Pointer, Wow this 8 ½ year old male showed all the youngsters how to do it today. Owned the ring from the moment he walked in. Masculine in outline, clean lines, well balanced, well ribbed up. Shown to his advantage with handler moving him out at the right speed which meant he could power around the ring, showing that he is constructed well as reaching from the fore and driving from the rear meant he covered the ground with ease and he has that little extra thing called ‘sparkle’ that makes him a perfect showman. This male truly showed the longevity of the gundog breeds today.

2nd GEMSWIN DENNIS THE MENACE AT MADDOUSE, Flat coated retriever. Another 8 ½ year old dog in his prime. Substantial male with correct body proportions, well boned and full of muscle in all the right places. Open (2:0)

1st DEXBENELLA ATTICUS FINCH. A 2 year old dog presented well, compact in size with a balanced outline. He is well put together correct body proportions. Lovely Head with a nice expression, would like a little more length to neck however well-muscled and flows into well laid shoulders.
