Many thanks to the committee of Tayside, Lochee and DCS for inviting me to judge the Hounds at their open show. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors who entered under me and gave me the opportunity to go over some lovely dogs.
Whippet: J (7/1) 1 Leslie’s Windwalker Endevour lovely fawn male of 14 months old, ideal in size and shown in good condition. Nice masculine head and expression, elegant neck into well laid back shoulders with a nice shapely outline when stacked. Nice deep chest with plenty of heart room, well-muscled rear which he used to drive in movement. A little unsteady in his movement to begin with but as the class progressed he settled enough to show he was true coming and going. 2 Downing-Christie’s Orange Crush Des Plaines Des Bruyeres fawn/ brindle male of 11 months, different type to 1 but still ideal size, neat feet and shown in great condition. Nice masculine head with lovely dark eyes, elegant neck into well laid back shoulders. Good front, deep chest with plenty of heart room, good underline with a definite tuck up. Good hindquarters, well-muscled which he used on the move, moved freely with plenty of reach (BP). 3 Smith’s Northwhip Never Say Never at Coynachie. L (4/2) 1 Leslie’s Agrith Ailis White Heart, lovely fawn bitch of 18 months shown in great condition. Pleasing feminine head and expression, elegant neck into well laid back shoulders with a nice shapely outline. One of the best fronts of the day, neat feet, good depth of chest with well sprung ribs. Plenty of muscle in the hindquarters, good bend of stifle, moved freely with drive, plenty of reach in profile, true coming and going, pleased to award her BOB and watch her get HG2. 2 Gray’s Ditto That, blue/white parti bitch of almost 3 years old, nice bitch in good condition with an excellent gleaming coat. Pleasing head and expression, deep chest with plenty of heart room, nice underline with a definite tuck up. Good bend of stifle, and plenty of muscle on her hindquarters, moved well. O (5/2) 1 Smith’s Conachie Crazy diamond, lovely fawn/brindle male whom I’ve had the pleasure to go over a few years ago and he has matured well. Shown in great condition and of ideal size, he has a pleasing masculine head and expression, elegant neck into well laid back shoulders. Good front assembly, deep chest, nice outline with a slight arch over the loin and definite tuck up. Covered the ground well, driving out with reach, true coming and going holding his topline well. 2 Cuthbert’s Whipplei Body of proof at Lunaire. Another male I have previously gone over in the past when he was only a puppy, he has also matured well from this time. Fawn/white parti dog, nice masculine head and expression with lovely dark eyes. Nice overall curvy outline, deep chest with plenty of heart room and good underline, tuck up. Covered the ground well just preferred the soundness of 1 on the day. 3 Wilson and Ballantine’s Speymalt Aurora Solstice.
Dachshund Minature Smooth Haired: PG (3/0) 1 Mclennan’s Chequevar Paddington Bear. Red male of 10 months old, pleasing balanced head with slight arch on skull. Long neck into well placed shoulders, nice level top line with a slight arch over the loin. Well-muscled hind quarters, moved out well. 2 Ashton’s Zobears Black Rose. Black and tan feminine bitch of only 6 months old, in good condition with a nice smooth coat, nice long skull with slight arch, level and well ribbed back with slight arch over the loin, good hindquarters, moved ok a little unsettled as still a puppy but with a little more encouragement the movement will come. 3 Barr’s Wolferlow Justina of Ellaness O (3/1) 1 Stuart’s Tsenzura Iz Mishinogo Doma. Red feminine bitch of 1 year old in good condition, attractive balanced head, good front assembly, long neck into well laid shoulder. Level topline with slight arch over the loin, well-muscled and bent hind quarters, moved out well with a presence, BOB. 2 McLennan’s Chequecar Tinkerbelle, 2 year old black and tan bitch shown in good condition, pleasing balanced head, long neck, good front assembly and keel, level topline and well ribbed up, well-muscled hind quarters, stood true and moved out freely.
Dachshund Wire Haired: O (2/0) 1 Christie’s Tannahill Bergen at Decalleigh, black and tan masculine male, pleasing balanced head, strong jaw, long muscular neck into well laid shoulders. Level topline, well ribbed, strong muscled quarters, nice harsh coat, moved out well and freely. 2 Haldane’s Dollydash Never Enough, another nice black and tan male of only 7 months old, showed similar qualities to 1 with a nice balanced head, good length of neck and good front assembly, nice level topline with slight arch over the loin, shown in good condition with a nice harsh coat. Moved ok but he is still young, with a little more encouragement his head carriage will improve.
Irish wolfhound: PG (2/1) 1 Ranfurly Prince, fawn brindle male of 2 years old, shown in good condition. Nice head with a kind expression, long muscular neck into good shoulder placement, good front assembly and deep chest. Nice topline and good bend of stifle, moved out freely. O (3/1) 1 Ritchie’s Broughadowey Raiden at Torrfionn, 3year old brindle male shown in great condition. Pleasing head and expression with nice dark eyes. Well-muscled hound, strong neck into well placed shoulders, nice front assembly and deep chest. Good topline and strong hingquarters which he used whilst on the move. Moved out well with ease, sound coming and going, BOB. 2 Hydebeck Echo of a Ruler in Ballyvonair, dark grey bitch slightly older than 1 but still of decent size. Nice head and expression, good front, deep chest, nice top line into strong hindquarters. Moved out well just preferred the overall soundness of 1.
Saluki: O (1/0)1 Phillip’s Vidana Amira S Berega Turi SHCM, Lovely feminine black and tan bitch shown in good condition and coat. Pleasing head, long muscled neck into nice topline with a slight arch over the loin. Good hindquarters and neat feet. Moved out well with ease, sound coming and going. Rhodesian Ridgeback O (3/0)1 Mckinlay’s Azali jamaa Azizi Tiberius (imp Due) SHCM, masculine red male of good size and in great condition. Pleasant balanced head, good bone and depth of chest, well sprung ribs. Strong topline, moved out freely with drive. 2 Gray’s Carlincox First Rate, mature red bitch shown also in good condition. Nice feminine head, well-muscled bitch, good front assembly with deep chest. Strong topline, good bend of stifle, neat feet, moved out well. 3 Bower’s Celtic Lore’s Golden Archer at Lyonglen (imp USA).
Beagle: J (2/1) 1 Findlay’s Rhiconich Domino, mature for his age of only 8 months old, tri coloured male of good size and condition. Pleasing masculine head with good ear set. Nice long arched neck into a level topline and good tail set. Well-muscled rear, moved out well with drive, sound coming and going. L (4/1) 1 Findlay’s Rhiconich Primrose, half-sister to my junior winner with very similar qualities and in good condition. Lovely feminine tri coloured bitch, nice size and overall ring presence. Nice typical head and strong jaw, good front quarters, nice topline with well sprung ribs. Neat feet, strong hindquarters and good tail set. Moved out with drive, sound coming and going. 2 Kavanagh’s Beabass Magical Mayhem, tri coloured male of 3 years old. Nice masculine head, strong front with good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Good level topline and well-muscled hindquarters. Moved out well but just preferred the overall balance of 1. 3 Christie’s Divinebrae Dom Perignon. O (3/1) 1 Findlay’s Rhiconich Rhys, another lovely tri coloured male of ideal size and in great condition from this kennel. Pleasing head and expression with good ear set. Nice length of neck with a strong topline into a good tail set. Well ribbed, deep chest and neat feet with plenty of bone. Moved out with ease covering the ground well, was a hard decision for BOB as all my winners were lovely, he just topped it with his overall showman ring presence. 2 Kavanagh’s Beabass Magical Mayhem.
Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen O: (2/0) 1 Wyllie’s Tangaer Calvera Avec Callydena, Lovely experienced bitch, of ideal size and in good condition and coat. Pleasing feminine head with a happy expression and square muzzle. Good length of neck set on well laid shoulders, good front assembly and in good bone. Well ribbed and nice level topline, good bend of stifle and plenty of muscle in the hindquarters. Moved out well, sound in all directions. 2 Wyllie’s Callydena Diamond Star SHCM, another lovely bitch slightly younger than 1 but still sharing similar qualities to like. Lovely head and expression, nice kind oval eyes, good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Straight in the front, good level topline and well ribbed. Moved out well but just lacked the enthusiasm of 1 on the day.
Basset Hound O: (4/0) 1 Meldrum’s Cintal Mabel Dene, lovely lemon and white puppy bitch shown in great condition. Nicely balanced head with good low set ear placement, good length of neck into nicely placed shoulders. Nice level broad back, with good spring of rib. Well-muscled rear and good bend of stifle, moved out with purpose to win the class. 2 Meldrum’s Cintal King Arthur, another lovely puppy shown in great condition and the litter brother to my class winner. Showed similar qualities to like as 1, nice masculine head and ear placement, well arched neck into good shoulder placement. Nice broad level back, deep chest, and well ribbed. Good amount of muscle in the hindquarters, moved out well, just missed out in first place as preferred the overall balance of his sister on the day. 3 McCord’s kelansue Rubeus Bomber.
Afghan hound O: (2/0) 1 Ashton’s Brigitte Bardot Gandanmak for Zobear (imp slv), Nice feminine black bitch in good condition and coat. Correct head with nice dark eyes, long strong neck which carried the head proudly. Well laid back shoulder into a level topline, neat feet and good bend of stifle. Nice smooth springy movement covering the ground well. 2 Mackenzie’s Villisilkin Alicia of Eilthir (imp fin), another lovely bitch slightly younger than 1 of only 11months old, gold, black mask shown good condition. Lovely head and expression, nice long neck which she carried proudly on the move, into well laid back shoulder. Nice level topline with slight fall away at the stern, good spring of rib, and strong hindquarters with good bend of stifle. Moved out with ease, nice smooth springy gait for one so young, should mature nicely.
