Wombwell & District Canine Society

Wombwell DCS 4th August 2019

My thanks to the officers and committee for this invitation and the warm welcome. The venue was a new one to me – Elsecar Heritage Centre. It was a very interesting place with period buildings and features everywhere. Also thanks to my fellow judges for sending through such an interesting line up of for me to consider for BIS. I was really spoilt for choice but my final nod went to the majestic Gian Schnauzer, Ch Philoma Pay Back Time for Barnsdale ShCMShCEx. A mature male in his prime, presented in optimum condition, he really dominated the ring, moving out freely and truly, not once flagging. He is lovely to go over from the long, well filled head with good dentition, through his neck and solid topline, to the end of his wagging tail; what a character. His profile is a stamp for the breed and his bone and substance indicate a dog not to be trifled with. Pushing hard and attaining Res BIS was the lovely Airedale Terrier Doraemi Buffalo Soldier, who I was told subsequently, is currently knocking on the door with two CCs to his name. Striking, very typical profile for this king of the terriers. Long, well furnished head , clean, confident eye and well set ears. A strong male presented in hard muscular condition. Moving out with typical terrier aplomb, soundly with well timed brisk gait. The colour is exceptional with the tan bright against the black. Good luck on attaining his third CC!

BPIS was the Border Terrier, Goldenmill Harvest Fantasy. The smartest of bitches presented in the highest order. Clean outline starting with the otter head, good neck, strong without being too broad, enough rib and short strong coupling. Presented in hard muscular condition which showed on his free, precise gait. Res BPIS was the Japanese Shiba Inu, Akai Hana Kichiro (imp Rus). With a good double coat and dense colouring, this well grown on lad appealed for overall type. Beautiful head qualities and cheeks, small ears, strong neck solid topline and well set on well carried tail. So much to like there.
