HORSHAM & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY 28/11/19

Firstly, I would like to thank the committee members for inviting me to judge at their very friendly, well run open show. I would also like to thank my very happy and helpful steward, William, for all his hard work in the ring and making sure it ran smoothly. This was my first judging appointment and I was really pleased with the entries I received, I believe that it was one of the highest entries the society has had for Dalmatians. I would like to thank all the exhibitors who entered under me and a huge thank you to everyone for accepting my decisions with grace and sportsmanship. I did notice a couple of dirty teeth in some of the exhibits, and just wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention.

CLASS 150 – PUPPY (Entry of 4)

1st – KYSTUNO WARNERS KING – 10 month old Black spot boy who is really starting to mature nicely, well set ears framing a masculine head with dark, kind eyes. Clean muzzle with correct scissor bite. Elegant neck flowing into well laid shoulders, with good front angulation. Nice straight legs with enough bone leading into slightly sprung pasterns and tight cat feet. Good depth of chest allowing for plenty of heart and lung room. Equal angulation front and rear giving a balanced outline both on the move and when stood. Moved with power and drive, and very much fit for purpose. Happy to award BPIB and later he was awarded PG4.

2nd – DOODLEDALLY NANCY DREW AM DALSEREN – A very young little lady of just 6 months old at her very first show. Lovely feminine head with well set spotty ears framing her pretty face. Dark brown eyes giving a sweet expression, clean muzzle and correct scissor bite. Elegant arched neck tapering into well defined withers. Good, equal angulation in her shoulder and upper arm but slightly more upright than 1. Forelegs nice and straight with nice tight feet. Well sprung ribcage, hindquarters developing nicely and will improve with maturity, level topline both on the stand and moving.

CLASS 151 – JUNIOR (4/3)

1ST – GWYNMOR LEWELLYN TO HUNACRES (IMP NLD) – A stunning 14 month old boy with everything you would want to see in a carriage dog. His masculine head is framed by well set ears, the darkest of eyes and clean muzzle with correct scissor bite. Long elegant, arched neck. His shoulder is well laid back with equal angulation in the upper arm. Elbows tight to his chest, forelegs straight with enough bone, slightly sprung pasterns and nice tight cat feet. Ribcage is very capacious allowing plenty of room for heart and lungs. Rear angulation matching his front gives him a lovely balanced outline on the stand, and he comes into his own on the move. Another fit for purpose dog who I could see behind a carriage all day. Very happy to award him BOB and I found out it was also his last point for his JW (subject to KC confirmation) so huge congratulations to both.

2nd – HEBEMOR RUBY TIGER FROM ACINONYX – 16 month old Lovely rich liver spot girl who is really attentive to her handler. A pretty, feminine head, lovely amber eyes giving her the sweetest expression. Ears well set and used well. Elegant arched neck leading into good forequarters. Good angulation in the shoulder and upper arm with elbows tight to her chest. Nice, straight forelegs with great cat feet. Would have liked to see a little more depth in her chest but she is still maturing and there is plenty of heart and lung room. Rear angulation also equal to her front and has good bend of stifle with lovely muscle tone. Level topline kept both on the move and stand, showing herself very well.

CLASS 152 - POST GRADUTATE (9/6)

What a fabulous class with the biggest entry! Lots of lovely dogs in this class and am sure they will swap places in future shows!

1st – GWYNMOR LEWELLYN TO HUNACRES (IMP NLD) – See Junior class.

2nd – DALCATORI MORGANITE ROSA – Another lovely rich liver spot girl of 18 months old. Pretty feminine head framed by well set ears, clean muzzle with scissor bite. Elegant, arched neck. Shoulder and upper arm angulation good, elbows tight to her chest leading into nice straight forelegs with tight cat feet. Well sprung ribcage carried well back. Level topline into muscular and slightly arched loin. Rear angulation the same as her front, giving her an overall balanced look, both stood and on the move.

CLASS 153 – OPEN (6/5)

Another lovely class and was splitting hairs in this class.

1st – CANDIDALS TENNESSEE VIP AT DEOVOLANTE – Very happy 6yr old boy who was certainly enjoying himself. He stood out for me on the move. Masculine head but not overdone, framed by well set ears. Clean muzzle with correct scissor bite. Long, elegant and arched neck. Shoulders well laid back with equal angulation in upper arm. Elbows tight to his chest, leading into straight strong forelegs. Enough spring in his pasterns with nice tight cat feet. Deep, capacious chest and well sprung ribcage, well defined withers leading into level topline. Rear angulation is equal to his front. Good bend of stifle with well let down hocks. Really happy to award him RBOB.

2nd – BIG ADDO – 7yr old, lovely, slightly less spotted than others in the class but such a rich liver colour. Who would think this boy is a veteran! He has a masculine head framed by well broken ears, lovely gentle expression with amber eyes that draw you in. Clean muzzle and correct scissor bite. Long, arched neck. Shoulder and upper arm equal in angulation, nice fore chest and elbows tight to his chest. Forelegs straight with enough bone, slight spring to pasterns and nice tight cat feet. Well sprung ribcage, strong slightly arched loin leading into a good rear that matches his front angulation. Level topline on the move and stood, just lost out to 1 today with his tail carriage being higher.
