Great Harwood Agricultural Society

Great Harwood Agricultural Show, Monday 27th May 2019

Firstly I would like to thank the committee for giving me my first judging appointment, a day that I will remember fondly. I would also like to thank the people who have helped me to get to this point with their support and guidance and those who came to support me on the day. Finally to my stewards Ian and Neville for keeping things moving especially given the poor weather which was a challenge for us all. Credit goes to the exhibitors who accepted my decisions with good grace and sportsmanship. Delighted to see both BOB and BPIB do well in the Group.

Puppy (2,0)

1st Holehan’s Loganrish Diamonds ‘n’ Pearls

9 month old bitch who had a lovely feminine head and typical Irish expression., Good reach of neck flowing into a gently sloping top-line. Good forechest and deep chest. Excellent spring of rib. Correct tailset. Good muscle tone throughout helping her to move reasonably well. A lovely balanced puppy who I was pleased to award BPIB ahead of her litter brother. Thrilled that she was Group 3 in the Puppy group.

2nd Cox’s Tiroen to the Moon and Back

Loved the head and expression of this 7 month old bitch who I’m sure will develop and do well in the future. Low set ears, good forechest. Lovely overall shape and balance. Dark coat in lovely condition. A bit all over the place on the move but only to be expected for one so young. Unlucky to meet the winner today who was a bit more mature and ‘together’.

Junior (1,0)

1st Holehan’s Loganrish Lets Go Crazy

Stood alone but there was much to admire of this 9 month old dog. Nice refined head, nice chiselling with prominent occupit and low set ears. Muscular neck, strong forechest and good angulation front and rear. Nice tight feet. Good muscle tone. Presented in a lovely coat. Didn’t quite move as well as his litter sister.

Postgraduate (4,1)

1st Holehan’s Loganrish Jacquart

4 year old bitch whose movement was excellent, gliding around the ring with ease. Lovely feminine head with a typical quizzical expression. Low set ears. Lovely reach of neck flowing into a nicely sloping top line and correct tailset. Nice tight feet. A bitch of lovely balance and well muscled throughout. Pleased to award her BOB.

2nd French’s Diervilla Zen Power

This is a well constructed, muscular 2 year old dog. Strong head. Good length of neck, strong prosternum. Nice shape and gently sloping top line when not stretched out too much. Tight feet. Well boned. Dark chestnut coat. Didn’t move particularly well on this occasion.

Open (7,4)

1st French’s Balintyne Just You Just Me

4 year old bitch whose head I really liked. Typical Irish expression and really made my heart melt when she looked at me. Nicely balanced and shown with a lovely dark coat. Won the class on movement as she moved round the ring holding her top line and with a slashing tail. Considered her for BOB.

2nd Cox’s Bardonhills The New Ginger at Tiroen

Taller 3 year old bitch with a nice head with prominent stop and nice earset. Deep chest and correct angulation for and aft. Well off for bone and muscle. Moved ok but preferred the movement and head of the winner

3rd Holehan’s Loganrish Prosecco
