Norwegian Elkhounds

A privilege to judge such a quality entry of this attractive breed including a number of champions.

P (1, 1 absent).

J (2): 1 Cowper’s Whittimere No Nonsense of Rothenborg, impressive 14 months dog, masculine outlook, attractive head, dark eyes, used his ears well, very good forehand, strong bone without being overdone, good tail, stepped out with purpose; 2 Lawrence & Owen-Lawrence’s Graythor Acadia, 13 months bitch, feminine expression, super dark eyes, ideal ear size & set, well defined harness marks. Carried head slightly lower than 1 but this may improve with maturity. Looked OK on the move once she got going.

PG (3,2): 1 Mortimer’s Laakso Belina, very typy & showy bitch, lovely dark eyes with good mascara, medium bone, very attractive outline, ideal tail & curl. Could have moved with a slightly longer stride. Overall picture very appealing.

L (2,1): Jepson’s Bowerhinton Bombette, feminine bitch, good square outline, ideal size. Head carriage could be slightly higher. Moderate bone, covered the ground well on the move, full of Elkhound character.

OD (4): A super class full of quality. 1 Cowper’s Ch Rothenborg Peder, top quality dog, loved his stallion-like outlook, very square & together, dark eyes, good earset, deep chest, clean bone, strong hindquarters, high-set tail, kept his shape very well on the move, excellent stride. RBOB; 2 Maun’s Ned Ch Bowerhinton Brouhaha, eyecatching dog, very typical & showy, ideal earset, medium bone, square outline, excellent tail. Preferred slightly stronger loin of 1. Moderate hind angulation, moved with good reach & drive; 3 Mortimer’s Laakso Canute.

OB (3,1): 1 Mortimer’s Grasilva Cruggleton with Laakso, balanced bitch, attractive head, balanced body, medium bone, harness marks well defined. Tail ideally set along centre line of back but became slightly loose in the challenge. Moved with effortless stride; 2 Cowper’s Rothenborg Petrea, feminine bitch of slightly finer type, attractive head, incredibly alert, super topline which she maintained on the move. Would prefer slightly less hind angulation. High set tail, covered the ground well on the move.

V (2): 1 Cowper’s Ch Rothenborg Leaha, top quality 8 years bitch, attractive head, balanced body, medium bone with good feet, deep chest, typical tail curl & set, really came into her own on the move, excellent reach & drive, so balanced & full of breed type, totally filled my eye. BOB & BV. Delighted to hear she later went on to BVIS; 2 Maun’s Multi Ch Bowerhinton Bear Necessity, masculine dog of 12 years, in incredibly good shape for his age, lovely dark eyes, good earset, square outline, deep chest, medium bone, loved his outgoing temperament, very houndy & alert, his looks belie his age, a great credit to his owner.
