Eastern Counties Golden Retriever Club

EASTERN COUNTIES GOLDEN RETRIEVER CLUB Sunday 26th May 2019

I would like to thank Eastern Counties Golden Retriever Club for inviting me to judge at their very well loved Rescue/Rally and Open show. All the dogs shown were in very good condition and I was thrilled with my entry. Thank you to the Officers and Committee for all their hard work and warm welcome and looking after me all day also for the fantastic lunch. Many thanks to my stewards for looking after me in the ring it was all extremely well organised.

SPECIAL VETERAN DOG (2/1) 1 Absent

1st Wedge :- SIATHAM BRIGADIER OF RIVERSCHARM                                                                                                                                         A handsome boy of 10 years young, he had a very full glamourous pale gold coat, head balanced and well chiselled, with a kind expression and a dark eye. A nice shape overall, straight forelegs, good shoulders and a level top line, well bent stifles and well-muscled rear quarters. Good strong, straight hocks, he moved with purpose and drive which was good to see in a Veteran of 10. BEST VETERAN IN SHOW.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (5/4) 1 Absent

1st Swatton’s :- ALIBREN BAKER’S BOY                                                                                                                                                                   A very nice minor puppy of pale gold he still has a lot of growing to do but was carrying just the right amount of weight. This baby was well balanced overall with a dark eye, good pigmentation, good length of neck, straight front with correct bone for age with the very best of feet. Level top line with a correct tail set good turn of stifle and straight hocks. Good movement front and rear.

2nd Muncey’s :- GARVIN GAME TO PLAY                                                                                                                                                            Mid gold in colour I also liked this young dog puppy very much and it was a close decision to one. Nice masculine head, wide muzzle with good depth. Straight forelegs with elbows close fitting, well laid back shoulders, good spring of rib and level top line. Hocks well let down a handsome boy just preferred my winner’s overall balance.

PUPPY DOG (5/4) 1 Absent

1st Golder’s :- SUMMERAMBA JEROBOAM                                                                                                                                                        Pale gold boy who I have seen and admired since a baby. He is a very nicely constructed dog overall. Good, clean, muscular reach of neck into well laid back shoulders with an equal length of upper arm placing legs well under his body. Strong pasterns both front and rear, deep through the heart with well sprung ribs, good level top line. Well bent stifles, moved straight and true from front and behind.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     BEST DOG PUPPY AND RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

2nd Wallington’s :- WYNRITA SCHOOL DAZE                                                                                                                                                     This boy was of mid gold colour and another I have seen around the shows and liked. A lovely expressive, masculine head with a nice dark eye, an excellent front with good lay back of shoulder. Straight forelegs well sprung ribs and a level top line. Correct tail set and a nice turn of stifle. Another close decision to one but lost out on movement and coat condition.

JUNIOR DOG (2/2) 0 Absent

1st Stollery’s :- HESSONITE GOLDEN TICKET                                                                                                                                                          A pale to mid gold dog a nice dark eye with strong dark pigment. Straight front, nice feet, shoulders laid back with a level top line and good tail set. Hocks well let down and straight. Moved well.

2nd Ewings :- BRYANSTOWN DRUMGOFF                                                                                                                                                         Dark gold boy he had a very nice coat in good condition nice head with soft expression and a dark eye. Straight front with tight round feet good spring of rib and short coupled with strong muscular rear quarters.

YEARLING DOG (4/4) 0 Absent

1st Enevoldsen’s :- VOLDENE SOLAR STAR                                                                                                                                                             A dark gold dog in full coat and very well balanced all through with a lovely profile shape. Dark eye and solid black pigment. Strong, clean, good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders with good length of upper arm putting legs well under his body. Level top line, good rear angulation with strong straight hocks. This dog was in a good condition with no excess weight.

2nd Wild’s QUAKERHALL SEA MASTER BY BLUEWATERS JW                                                                                                                         Mid gold boy in good coat another who I have watched since a puppy. Excellent head, this boy has straight forelegs with good bone and close fitting elbows, well laid back shoulders and an equal length of upper arm. Deep through the chest with well sprung ribs short coupled, correct turn of stifle. A very close decision but just preferred the balance of my winner on the day.

1st Enevoldsen’s :- VOLDENE SOLAR STAR

2nd Wells:- PEARLBARN PERONI                                                                                                                                                                               A mid gold boy in a good coat, with a lovely masculine head and soft expression. Handled well to the dogs advantage he had a good reach of neck, a level top-line with correct tail-set, well bent stifle nice straight hocks. This dog moved well but again preferred the overall balance of my winner.

3rd Steadman’s :- PEARLBARN PRINCE OF THE GLEN

GRADUATE DOG (4/4) 0 Absent

2nd Brennan’s :- CAMROSE XPERT GAMEKEEPER                                                                                                                                            This boy was a handful for his handler and would not stand still for very long but in the brief time he was stood still you could see that his overall outline was good. He was pale to mid gold in colour with a wavy coat. He had straight front with nice feet well laid back shoulders and a level top line. Correct tail set, well bent stifles and straight hocks. For a brief time he moved well a very happy boy.

POSTGRADUATE DOG (4/4) 0 Absent

1st Angell’s :- MILLANZA TOY STORY JW                                                                                                                                                                A pale gold boy in a profuse full coat. He had a very pleasing kind, gentle expression with the blackest of noses and dark eye. A very well balanced dog he stood four square and proud. He had a good straight front with tight elbows and round tight cat like feet. Very good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders, a level top line and correct tail set. Well-muscled rear quarters with a good second thigh, straight strong hocks well let down. Moved very well with confidence and good drive. Was pleased to award him        RESERVE BEST DOG AND RESERVE BEST IN SHOW.

2nd Wallington’s :- WYNRITA KEEP A DREAM                                                                                                                                              Slightly darker pale gold boy, he had a straight front with very well laid back shoulders and an equal length of upper arm placing his front legs well under the body. He was deep through the heart had well sprung ribs, correct length of ribcage with short loin, strong rear quarters and straight hocks moved well.

1st Wedge :- RIVERSCHARM MR MCGREGOR JW                                                                                                                                               My first thought as this masculine dark gold boy entered the ring was how balanced and complete he looked and I was not disappointed when I went over him. A lovely full coat and carrying just the right amount of weight he had a masculine expressive head well chiselled with a kind dark eye and well set ears. Strong clean neck into well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Straight forelegs with nice tight elbows and round cat like feet, deep through the chest and a good spring of rib, level top line, he was short coupled. Hindquarters strong with good width of second thigh, well bent stifles. Strong straight hocks well let down he moved with drive and was straight and true front and rear I was pleased to award him                                                         BEST DOG AND BEST IN SHOW.

2nd Wells :- PEARLBARN POT OF GOLD                                                                                                                                                             This boy was also in good coat and he looked very glamorous in pale gold with very dark pigment. He had a straight front with good front and rear angulation, level top-line with correct tail-set again carrying the right amount of weight and well-muscled rear quarters. Good movement.

2nd Tudor’s :- BOWTREASURE QUICKSILVER                                                                                                                                                    This boy had a mid-gold coat, lovely kind head with dark eye. Straight front and tight feet, level top line, good turn of stifle and straight hocks.

1st Mandley’s :- MALTQUDOS MISS MASH                                                                                                                                                       Eight and half years of age but looking much younger a pale golden bitch with an elegant outline, Exquisite feminine head with a dark eye, good pigment, good reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulder, equal length return of upper arm, straight legs with nice feet, good spring to rib with short coupling. She was a happy girl which showed on the move. Was a close decision for best Veteran in show.

2nd Ewing’s :- KAILZIE UNA AT BRYANSTOWN                                                                                                                                                 This lovely veteran lady was 11 but you would not think it, she was very happy to show wagging her tail nonstop. Mid gold in colour she had a very sweet expression, and lovely typical golden head with good pigment. Straight front with tight feet, level top line, good turn of stifle, and was straight from behind moved nicely.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (6/5) 1 Absent

1st Zubair & Trinder :- THORNYWAIT CASSIOPEIA                                                                                                                                          What a stunning minor puppy bitch to judge she looked very mature for her age. Well balanced thoughout this puppy was in good coat and condition, mid to darker gold in colour she had an excellent typical golden head, very nice clean reach of neck into well laid shoulders with corresponding return of upper arm. Excellent bone and feet. Elbows were well under the body. Good spring to rib with short coupling, level top line and tail set. Rear quarters are strong with good width of second thigh, well bent stifle with well let down hocks. Moved with enthusiasm holding level top line and tail while doing so. I had no hesitation in awarding her                 BEST BITCH PUPPY AND THEN BEST PUPPY IN SHOW.

2nd Birkin-Green :- SANUE LOVESTUCK                                                                                                                                                              Pale golden with a pretty feminine head and a soft expression,dark eye, good pigment, good reach of neck straight well boned legs with tight feet. Top line was level she had good rear angulation and straight hocks. Moved very well with confidence.

3rd Warren’s :- COOMBSTOCK MAGIC TOUCH AT TARNBROOK

PUPPY BITCH (3/2) 1 Absent

1st Bennett’s :- NATIVEGOLD DANCING BEAR                                                                                                                                            Another very feminine pale gold bitch shown in good coat, pretty head, excellent shoulder and return of upper arm. Straight front, well ribbed body and short loin. Strong hindquarters with straight hocks. Moved well.

2nd Muncey’s :- KENNELRIDGE JENA                                                                                                                                                                  This was a close decision for 1st place this young girl was a little longer in the coupling but overall a nice shape. A good clean reach of neck and well laid shoulders, well-muscled hind quarters and a good turn of stifle with strong straight hocks.

JUNIOR BITCH (9/4) 5 Absent

1st Birkin-Green :- SANSUE KEEP THE FAITH                                                                                                                                                    Pale gold very femine bitch shown in good coat and presented to perfection. Pretty head, with good reach of neck, straight front. Round feet. She has a level topline and good tail set. Well bent stifles. Moved freely coming and going at one with her handler.

2nd Squirrell’s HALEBOURNE FIRST PRIMROSE                                                                                                                                               Pale to mid gold bitch quite strong in head but showing enough femininity, clean good reach of neck, excellent front assembly with well filled forechest, deep in body with excellent spring of rib adequate hindquarters, very good coat but preferred movement of one.

2nd Simms :- MESSANO REMEMBER ME FOR STVINCENT                                                                                                                         Really nice outline for this young girl she was of mid gold had a lovely dark eye with well set ears she had a good reach of neck, deep chest, a level top line correct turn of stifle with straight hocks lost out to movement of one.

UNDERGRADUATE BITCH (5/3) 2 Absent

1st Ward’s :- LAURENLEY STARRY NIGHT                                                                                                                                                             An elegant pale bitch who has a sweet head & dark eye, reachy neck flowing into good layback of shoulder & correct corresponding upper arm with strong, level top line. She has straight forelegs, is deep through the brisket & has good feet. Rear quarters are well muscled with well let down hocks and balance her forehand construction perfectly, enabling her to move very accurately.

2nd Squirrell’s THORNYWAIT SAVANNAH                                                                                                                                                    Quality, feminine, mid gold young bitch, free stood & four square each time I looked, on the very best cat like feet. Sweet head, with excellent pigment, straight forelegs, good layback of shoulder, not quite the upper arm angulation of those in the top spots. Strong, level top line, with correctly angulated rear quarters. Well handled she is a happy young lady on the move & covered the ground very well.

1st Harding’s :- EVENINGHILL MAD AS A HATTER                                                                                                                                                A happy mid gold girl free stood and looked very balanced. A nice gentle head with a kind expression dark eye very good reach of neck and straight front, strong rear quarters. Moved out well with her handler and in pretty well prepared coat.

POSTGRADUATE BITCH (8/5) 3 Absent

1st Smith’s :- GOLDMARKER LUMINARA                                                                                                                                                         Lovely dark gold bitch with excellent make and shape, beautiful outline and overall balance, well chiseled head with kindest of expressions, strong clean neck, very good topline, textbook angulations both end with excellent forechest, excellent depth in body with enough substance, powerful bone, excellent rear drive which is what I would expect from her conformation. Well presented in full coat, I was very pleased to award her                                                                                                                                                         BEST BITCH AND BEST OPPOSITE SEX IN SHOW

2nd Bennett’s :- NATIVEGOLD PRINCESS DOVE                                                                                                                                      Compact, very balanced outline, pretty, lovely dark, well shaped eye giving super expression. Excellent forehand construction, good length of neck, great spring of rib, short couplings, well let down hocks, correct rear quarters & nice feet. Such an enthusiastic show girl with good tail carriage. Her movement was accurate, showing plenty of forehand reach. Very happy to award her            RESERVE BEST BITCH

1st Enevoldsen’s :- VOLDENE SOLAR STAR                                                                                                                                                     Close decision in this class. Five and a half year old bitch, very honest all through. She has good balance in profile when stood. Liked her for her size, substance and femininity. Her expression is so soft and gentle with those lovely dark eyes and pigmentation. Good front and rear angulation. Her topline has a good flow to a well set on and carried tail. Well boned forelegs and depth to the ribcage and the important spring to the ribs. On the move she was free and positive.

2nd Mullett’s :- POUNDMEADOW START SO BRIGHT A very similar looking girl to my winner also five and a half years of age she was a happy lady with nothing overdone and feminine all through. Pleasing length of foreface to give balance to her head just preferred movement of my winner.

3rd Hudson’s :- AYMSBURY ASHISHA JW

OPEN BITCH (8/4) 4 Absent

1st Simms :- POPPPYGOLD FIRE OPAL WITH STVINCENT                                                                                                                                  4 year old darker gold bitch who won this class on her movement today. A very honest pretty bitch, a dark eye giving a kind and soft expression. She has good balance, with a good length of leg. Enough depth through the body showing a firm strong topline. She has admirable hindquarters with super width to the thigh, moderate bone with a nice bend of stifle, she strode out well.

2nd Hudson’s :- AYMSBURY AKAYSHA                                                                                                                                                                    A very happy show girl and handled superbly and in good coat. Clean reach of neck into a strong level topline good turn of stifle and straight hocks moved enthusiastic but preferred coupling of my winner.

3rd Stonebridge :- TOSELAND STAR OF WONDER
