Hamilton Canine Club – 27th January 2019
Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at such a super show and a very pleasing entry. Also to my stewards Jennifer and Ellen for their friendly demeanour and keeping the ring running smoothly.
Great Dane
Junior (7,3 abs)
1. Hollands’ Axeford Arizonan of Dramalex. 9 month old beautiful puppy bitch with a super shape and elegant outline. Pretty head with nice tight dark eye and kind expression. Lovely medium-sized neat ears. Skull and muzzle in proportion and developing along the right lines. Good length of neck free from throatiness and well-arched. Well-laid shoulders and good length and return of upper-arm. Moderate forechest developing and chest just reaching the elbows. Straight front legs with lovely round bone in balance with size. Correct proportions and ribs extending far back. Firm well-muscled loin. Lovely rump and correct tail-set and carriage. Good turn of stifle and firm in hock. Would prefer a little more extension in profile, but moved true coming and going with a sound and easy gait. Very smart and would love to see her in full maturity.
2. Akinosho’s Allours Hidalgo. Another stylish fawn bitch with an elegant outline. Good for size and substance. Skull and muzzle of correct ratio and balanced with body. Dark eye and good pigmentation. Eyelids could be a little tighter. Neck of medium length, strong and free from excess skin. Would prefer slightly better shoulder placement. Straight parallel front with enough bone for size and well-arched feet. Good depth and breadth of chest. Ribs could extend a little further back and hence a touch longer in loin. Good rear angulation, well-muscled second thigh and firm hocks. Correct croup and tail-set. Moved soundly with an easy active gait really using her rear to advantage and holding her head high.
3. Taylor’s Tayhamblue Stand By Me
Post Graduate (3,1)
1. Tayhamblue Whole Lota Rosie. Athletic Blue bitch in good condition. Strong muzzle. Neat medium sized triangular ears. Scissor bite and square jaw. Firm, medium length of neck – no excess skin. Moderate but balanced front and rear angulation. Good Bone for size. Straight front but a little down on her front pasterns. Broad and firm in back. Ribs extending well-back. Correct croup and tail-set. Thick base to tail. Firm hocks. Moved with an active, sound gait. Could be a touch cleaner coming towards but ok in profile and away.
2. Ganteus Sansa Stark of Winterfell Lomondane (imp Swe). Strong Fawn bitch with a stylish outline. Not happy today and difficult to fully assess, but did manage to go over her. A little narrow through the muzzle and stop. Firm, medium length of neck. A touch up-right in shoulder. Straight in front with good width of chest. Lovely body depth and breadth of back. Level topline, firm in loin. Correct croup and tail-set. Good rear angulation and short, firm rear pasterns. Not moving to full advantage.

1. Young, Cunningham, Gilbert & Robertsons’ Ch Gretadane I’m In Bother with Iluvadane JW ShCM. Strong and upstanding male with a majestic appearance and air of arrogance. Substantial, well-bodied and very well-muscled. Strong muzzle and skull, dark eyes and neat medium-sized ears. Just a little too much lip and excess skin on the throat for me. Well-arched firm neck, well-laid shoulders and correct in front assembly. Shoulders well defined in muscle but not overloaded. Lovely, strong round bone and straight parallel front. Excels in forechest. Good depth to chest and well-sprung ribs which extend far back. Firm loin and well-rounded rump. Moved soundly, using his rear and extending in profile with super carriage and outline. Toes-in a little in front. Sturdy rear with good turn of stifle and firm in hock. Had no hesitation in awarding him Best of Breed.
Siberian Husky
Open (2)
1. Rodger’s Jedisibes Dark Expresso. Very workman-like and strong male who excelled in forehand and overall balance. Kind expression with almond-shaped eyes and strong muzzle. Ears alert, just a little wide apart and would like just a little more refinement in skull but strong and all in proportion. Correct bite and pigment. Strong, medium well-arched neck. Excellent lay back of shoulder. Lovely strong round bone and straight, parallel front. Well-arched feet. Good depth of chest and lovely spring of rib. Firm back, level topline and sturdy short loin. Correct croup and tail-carriage. Good bend of stifle, rear pasterns a little long and tendency to turn hind-feet out. Rear movement could be better, but moved easily and effortlessly with good extension and true coming towards. Could be handled better to make him more competitive. Best of Breed.
2. Anderson’s Amical Five Star. 4 year old male with a quality headpiece and lovely coat and colouring. Typey head with neat medium sized ears, alert and set correctly. Lovely dark almond-shaped eye. Correct for chiselling in skull and fox-like in appearance. Well-arched neck but a little short. Would prefer better shoulder placement and overall forehand. Moderate bone for size and feet a little flat. Firm in body, level topline and good depth of chest. Ribs extend well-back. Compact in proportions and well-muscled loin. Correct croup and tail-set. Good turn of stifle and tidy short rear pasterns. Moved Ok but could have been more balanced and settled in stride today.

Good depth of chest, ribs extend well-back. Lovely rounded rump and correct tail-set and carriage. Moderate rear angulation and firm in hock. 1. Main & Moirs’ Newgraden’s Chariboo. 3 year old strong typey male with super outline, substance and ring presence. Very strong head, just a little too much wrinkle and stop for me personally but strong square muzzle. Strong jaw, no excess lip or flew. Nice tight dark almond-shaped eyes and lovely neat ears. Broad skull and prominent occiput. Good reach of neck. This dog excelled in shoulder layback and correct forehand. Some could learn from this. Lovely strong round bone and tight well-arched feet. Good breadth and depth of chest with well-sprung ribs. Broad firm back and lovely rounded rump. Correct tail-set and carriage. Good rear angulation, well-muscled and firm in hock. Moved well with just slight toe-ing in coming towards. Good extension in profile with an easy balanced stride and moved true going away. Presented in good coat and condition. Pleased me immensely. An easy choice for Best of Breed.
2. Duff’s King Of Helluland My Queen at Titanbears. 18 month old black bitch with the most beautiful head and expression. Nice tight dark almond-shaped eyes. Level topline and lovely rounded rump and correct tail-set. Good turn of stifle and nice short rear pasterns. Moved a little wide and untidy coming towards, but this bitch excelled in super profile movement with great extension. Lovely carriage, holding her shape and drive from the rear.
