Newfoundlands.

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this friendly show and to my steward for keeping the ring running smoothly. Also, thank you to the exhibitors for your entries and accepting my decisions and placings so sportingly. A nice entry of the breed for an open show, with the Mileoak Kennel doing particularly well today.

Puppy (2)

1. Leech’s MILEOAK CASSIS. 8 month old pretty puppy bitch with lovely overall shape and quality. Head developing well with good breadth of muzzle and skull. Kind dark almond shaped eye, showing no haw. Lovely small neat ears set correctly. Scissor bite. Good length of neck leading into well-placed shoulder and correct return of upper-arm. Well-boned, straight front legs sat on neat well-arched feet. Good breadth of body and rounded rump. A touch bum high at this stage and rear movement needs time to strengthen. Super front movement, clean and reaching out well given correct forehand and tidy profile movement. Super temperament and character. BEST PUPPY IN BREED and well done on Puppy Group 2.

2. Park’s PARKBEARS DIAMOND GIRL. 7 month old puppy bitch with a lovely head and expression. Lovely dark almond-shaped eye with tight lids. Nice short muzzle and good breadth to skull. Would prefer more bone and size. Good neck and correct shoulder-placement, needs a little more upper-arm. Broad back and good spring of rib, but topline a little soft at this stage. Correct croup and balanced rear angulation. A tad close going away and could be cleaner coming towards, but moves with an easy, active stride in profile. Sweet nature and correct black coat.

Junior (2)

1. Leech’s MILEOAK SANSA STARK. Just my cup of tea. Beautiful, shapely bitch with a super outline. Strong yet feminine. Lovely dark almond-shaped eye and good breadth of muzzle. Scissor bite. Ears a little large and low-set. Good length of neck, leading into well-laid shoulder and correct upper-arm. Correct prosternum and nice straight front legs. Strong bone and neat feet. Deep chest and good breadth of body. Firm back and loin leading into a smoothly rounded rump and correct tail-set. Good rear angulation, completely in balance with her forehand. Moved with good extension with an easy, balanced stride. Firm in hock and true going away but would just like a fraction less toe-ing in coming towards. In good coat and condition. VERY close decision for BOB, but had to give way to her father today who just had a SLIGHT edge on the move and head type. Very nice and one to watch.

2. Leech’s MILEOAK CASSIS. See first in puppy.

Post Graduate (3)

1. Leech’s MILEOAK SANSA STARK. See first in Junior.

2. Hudson & Bones’ NEWFANGLED BONE IDLE. Handsome young male who excels in size and substance. Strong head, broad skull and muzzle. A little too much lip for me. Kind eye and correct ears. Good length of neck leading into acceptable shoulder placement, but would prefer a fraction more upper-arm. Nice straight front and strong, rounded bone leading into neat, well-arched feet. Firm back and well-ribbed. Moderate rear angles leading to firm hocks. Very sound and light on his feet for such a strong male, showing great activity and fairly clean from all angles. Very nice young male, just needs time now to mature in body and drop all-round. Has great potential.

3. Park’s PARKBEARS FIRST EDITION

Open (4)

1. Leech’s NANDOBEARS INSTANTLY LOVE AT MILEOAK (Imp Ger). 3 year old majestic and masculine male just oozing in breed type. Strong, quality head without being coarse or overdone. Short, broad muzzle and good breadth to his skull. Kind, dark eye with tight lids. Scissor bite and no excessive lip. Ears acceptable. Good length of neck leading into well-laid shoulder and super overall forehand. Correct forechest and good width between front legs. Well-off for bone, straight parallel front legs and tight, well-arched feet. Good depth of chest and well-sprung ribs, but would prefer a better topline. Good rump and tail-set. Well-angulated rear and firm in hock. The soundest mover of the day, clean from all angles with super extension in profile. Gives the overall breed typical impression of strength, nobility and great activity. BEST OF BREED and congratulations on Group 2.

2. Duff’s KING OF HELLULAND MY QUEEN AT TITANBEARS (Imp Svk). I have judged this bitch a few times now and today she was unlucky to meet number 1. The cleanest she has moved under me and maturing well. Quality female with a beautiful head and expression. Nice dark kind eye. Tight lids and lips. Alert ears, set correctly. Good length of neck, leading into well-placed shoulder. Upper-arm just ok. Good depth of chest and well-ribbed. Firm, level-topline and nicely rounded rump with correct tail-set. Well-angulated rear and again firm in hock. Moved very soundly, using her rear to advantage and extending with an active gait in profile. Would like a little more strength and substance overall. In super coat and condition. Very well-muscled and at one with her handler.

3. Milburn’s GUNNERSNEWF ALL ABOUT ME AT DAWSTENBEARS

4. Wood’s SANDBEARS SOULKEEPER VIA LUVMINEWFS JW
