Afghan Hound (3) – All absent

Basset Fauve De Bretagne.

Post Graduate (1) 1st Humphrey's Blevwil Kept Me Secret For Gloynbyw. 3 year old bitch  with a good balanced head, strong under jaw and correct bite. She has dark eyes and a lively expression and correct ear set. Her neck is strong sitting into good shoulders, good front angles and wide and deep chest. Correct level topline with rounded ribs set well back, strong and muscular rear quarters and correct tail set. Moved soundly from all angles and strode out well. BOB.

Open (1) 1st Humphreys Blevwil Drop Dead Gorgeous Avec Golynbyw ShCM. 6 year old bitch with a nice head, everything in proportion and balanced with correct bite. Dark eyes and correct ear set. Strong short neck into slightly sloping shoulders, good front angles and tight feet. Good depth and width to forechest, correct round ribs carried well back, topline OK but higher over the rump than desired. Rear quarters OK but a little weaker in the hocks than I would like. Tail carried correctly on the move. Sound from all angles, just preferred the overall balance in body of the PG winner today.

Beagle.

Puppy (1) 1st Rimmer's Bayard Golden Wish. 8 month old tan and white bitch. A lovely puppy with a feminine and balanced head. Strong muzzle, reasonable flew, broad nose and correct bite. Dark expressive eyes set well apart, long well set ears and a long slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders. She has good front angles, straight front, short pasterns and tight firm feet with correct round bone. Nice deep chest for her age, ribs well sprung into good topline, body needs to tighten up over the loin but this should come with age. Strong and muscular thighs into well bent stifles and well let down parallel hocks. Moves soundly from all angles with reach. BP & PG2.

Open (4, 2a) 1st Rimmer's Bayard Going For Gold. 3 year old tan and white dog. Handsome head, balanced throughout with strong muzzle, good flew, strong under jaw and correct bite. Dark eyes set well apart, appealing expression. Good strong neck into well laid shoulders, deep forechest and excellent front angles. Front straight with short pasterns, correct round bone and tight firm feet. Ribs well sprung with firm level topline. Sturdy rear quarters with well bent stifles and good hocks. Tail held correctly. Moved soundly from all angles. BOB. 2nd Jennings Kenaiteen Point Pleasant. 16 month old tri bitch, pretty head, moderate width with strong muzzle and under jaw, reasonable flew and correct bite. Hazel eyes, set well apart with appealing expression and correct well set ears. Long slightly arched neck into good well laid shoulders, correct front angles and round bone. Ribs well sprung and carried well back, slightly longer cast than 1st giving her a slightly weaker topline than desired. Good strong rear quarters into well bent stifle and good hocks. Moved soundly from all angles.

Bloodhound.

Open (1) 1st Jones Harvidene Devil In Disguise. 4 year old red dog, who has a super presence about him. Good head, a little broader in skull than id like, but other than this a lot to like. Head long in proportion to body, tapering slightly from temple to muzzle, brows prominent, sufficient stop, square in profile and hardly any loose skin on the face. Good  leathers, long and thin, soft and held gracefully. Long neck into super shoulders, well muscled straight front with strong well knuckled feet. I would prefer his elbows a little tighter but his front assembly is very good. Well bodied up and well muscled rear quarters with well let down hocks. He comes into his own on the move and is very sound from all directions. BOB and considered highly in a lovely hound group.

Borzoi.

Open (4, 2a) 1st Raczka’s Jamarqui Alchemy Argent. 16 month old white and fawn dog. A good sized youngster, with a lovely head, correct proportions with good pigmentation and correct veining. Jaws long and deep with correct bite, dark almond eyes set well back, ears small, pointed and delicate and close at occiput. Good strong neck into excellent shoulders, good front with enough depth of chest for his age, straight front with bladed bone and correct oval feet. Obvious topline on the move and when stood, I would prefer a touch more length in loin to give a more gracious rise, correct obvious tuck up. Powerful rear quarters with strong long thighs and broad clean hocks. Moved sound and true from all angles. BOB. 2nd Harvey & Jonssons Lynx Gogibus Pearl (Imp Swe). 17 month old black and white parti dog, a finer male throughout than 1st. Good head in proportion to body, would prefer more fill under the eye. Good pigmentation, jaws long and deep with correct bite. Dark almond eyes set well back with good ears set correctly. Strong neck into OK shoulders and moderate front angles. Straight front with correct bladed bone and good feet. Oval rib, enough depth of chest for his age, and an obvious tuck up. Topline OK would prefer more rise as he has a tendency to go flat. Good rear quarters, well angulated with broad hocks. Sound from all angles but was moving slightly close behind today.

Dachshunds (Min Smooth-haired).

Puppy (4, 2a) 1st Mills-Jones Carlita Welsh Princess. And what a princess she is! She blew me away when she came into the ring. 7 month old red bitch, beautiful head, all in proportion, strong under jaw with neat lips and correct bite. The most beautiful expressive dark almond shape eyes, high set ears of moderate length, broad and rounded. Long and muscular neck with slight arch into superb shoulders which are long and broad. Strong hard muscle with correct 90 degree angle into super front legs which were straight and tucked under the body with slight sloping pastern and full broad close knit feet. Breastbone strong and prominent, thorax full and oval, ribs carried well back with firm strong topline and good ground clearance. Slight arch to loin with a broad and full rump. Strong rear quarters with correct right angle into strong hocks. When she moved she just floated around the ring, true from all angles, free flowing with drive and her tail held correctly. I could have taken her home. BOB, BP, HG2 & PG1 and to my delight she later took RBPIS well done! 2nd Jennings Jenivon Mr Mischief. A typical male who needs time to come together. 11 month old black and tan dog, good head, slightly domy in skull for me. Long conical head, good muzzle and underjaw with correct bite. Dark expressive eyes and good ears, long and muscular neck into long broad shoulders. Correct front angles and prominent breastbone with OK front, for me he needs to tighten up here. Well ribbed back with muscular strong body. Topline reasonably level just needs to firm up. Rump broad and full, strong rear quarters with good angles and strong hocks. Sound moving from in all directions.

Post Graduate (4, 1a) 1st Carlita Made In Wales. Litter brother to the puppy winner and a lot of the same virtues. 7 month old red boy, another beautiful head, all in proportion. Strong under jaw, neat lips and correct bite. Expressive and correct eyes, high set ears of  moderate length. Long and muscular neck into broad long slightly sloping shoulders. Correct front angles with strong and prominent breast bone and legs well under the body. Not as strong as his sister in front but he has plenty of time to tighten up. Feet full, broad and close knit, elbows well tucked, ribs carried well back. I would prefer a stronger topline but he is longer cast in the body. Over time I expect this will tighten up with age. Broad and full rump into strong muscular rear quarters with correct angles and strong hocks. Moves freely and true from all angles which won him the class. 2nd Rose's AppleTrees Mystic Mabli. 18 month old red bitch with a very good head, all in proportion and correct bite. Dark medium sized almond shaped eyes with kind expression, correct high set ears of moderate length. Good clean neck into long broad and firm shoulders, good front angles not as prominent in breastbone as the winner. Straight front with slightly sloping pastern and good feet. Well ribbed back with firm topline and full, broad rump. I would prefer more rear angulation but non the less she moved very soundly around the ring. 3rd Jennings Ayseebee Diamond Sky For Jenivon.

Open (2) A difficult class to judge as both males were very different. 1st Rose's Shantallah. Tommy Tucker. 6 year old black and tan male, different type to my other winners but a lot to like. Good head, all in proportion, strong underjaw, neat lips and correct bite. Eyes correct dark and expressive, ears well set and of moderate length. Long and muscular neck into long broad and firm shoulders. His front is superb with correct 90 degree angles, prominent breastbone and full oval thorax. Legs well under the body with good pasterns and full broad feet. Ribs carried well back, strong and firm level topline with slight arch of the loin. Full and broad rump into really well angulated rear quarters. Unfortunately he was not cooperating today and was tucking his bum well under him not allowing me to see his overall finish when stood. I did however manage to see how well made he is behind on the move when he finally relaxed and moved very soundly around the ring. 2nd Duddondaxs Judge For Jenivon. 2 year old red dog of good size. Overall he was more my type than 1stBeautiful head, all in proportion. Good muzzle, strong under jaw, neat lips and correct bite. The most expressive dark eyes, and well set ears. Long and muscular neck into long, broad and firm shoulders. Prominent breastbone with full oval thorax, good front angles and straight front with slightly sloping pasterns and full broad feet. Good topline and strong broad rump. Well angulated behind with strong hocks. Moved soundly in profile but has a tenancy to high step in front and holds his tail quite high. For me he was much longer cast and I just preferred the overall balance and front of 1st today.

Dachshund (Min Wire-haired).

Open (1) Mills-Jones Carlita Sunrise JW. 2 Year old dog who has a very attractive head, all in proportion, long and conical, slight stop, good muzzle and strong under jaw with correct bite. Dark expressive eyes, correct almond shape and correct well set ears. Long and muscular neck, slightly arched into good correct long broad shoulders. Correct front angles with prominent breastbone, thorax full and oval. Legs well under the body, straight front with slightly sloping pasterns, feet a little flat for me. He is well ribbed back, has a slight sloping shoulder into a reasonably level topline. His rump is broad and strong into good rear quarters however he is a little longer in 2nd thigh. His tail is held correctly on the move. He really excels in movement where he is very true and free flowing from all angles. BOB & GP 4.

Pharoah Hound.

Open (1) Lloyd's Athansius Astorte. Appealing 2 year old red bitch of moderate size. Pretty head, skull long and lean, well chiselled, strong under jaw and correct bite. Eyes amber,  oval in shape with intelligent expression, ears medium in size carried erect. Long and muscular neck into long and strong shoulders, good front angles and straight front. Elbows well tucked and strong long pasterns. Her ribs are well sprung with just enough depth of chest, she has a fabulous topline, strong and almost straight into her slightly arched loin and slight slope from croup to tail. In her rear I would prefer a little more muscle, she has a moderate bend of stifle into good hocks. Her movement was very free and easy from all angles I would just prefer a little more drive from behind. BOB.

A.V.N.S.C. Hound.

Junior (2) 1st Catlow's Hydebeck Dream Of Lorelei At Laoseach. What a beautiful young Irish Wolfhound this is, she really impressed me. 17 month old bitch of great size. She is all female to looks at. Beautiful head, long and carried high. Muzzle long, black nose and lips, good under jaw with correct bite. Expressive eyes, with good fill underneath, ears small and rose shaped and set correctly. Long strong and muscular neck into good well laid shoulders. Super front angles and good depth of chest, with straight front and large round and firm feet. Long back into gentle rise of the loin flowing into her strong rear quarters which were well muscled, with good bend to stifle and strong hocks. She came into her own moving around the ring with long and easy strides and powering from her rear. A joy to watch. Best AVNSC & GP 3. 2nd Kehoe & Phillips Anzacol Amazing Alika at Redcrown. 15 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback. A red bitch of good size, OK head – correct flat skull, broad between the ears. Stop well defined, strong muzzle but would prefer more length, strong under jaw and correct bite. Good ears and dark eyes, long neck into well placed shoulders with good front angles. Straight front, however I would prefer more compact feet. Enough depth of chest for age, ribs well sprung, powerful topline and slight arch to loin. Rear quarters strong and muscled but would prefer more bend to stifle. Moved sound from all angles.

Post Graduate (3) 1st Kehoe & Phillips Affrhoda Ons Meisie Kya For Redcrown. 2 year old red Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch who for type I loved. Very clean throughout, pretty head, all in proportion, strong long muzzle and under jaw with correct bite. Good ears and dark expressive eyes. Long neck into well laid shoulders with correct front angles, straight front and compact feet. Good depth of chest into sprung ribs, strong, powerful and firm topline with gentle arch to loin which flowed into her rear quarters. Again I would prefer more bend to the stifle and stronger hocks, however she was very sound from all angles. 2nd MillsJones Cwmdarhian Emoji. Miniature Long-haired Dachshund male of 2 years. Handsome head, all in proportion, correct almond shape dark expressive eyes and well set ears with good even coverage of hair. Long muscular neck into good broad shoulders and super front angles. Prominent breastbone and legs well under the body. Straight front and good feet, well ribbed back. A more compact boy, broad over the rump into OK rear quarters. Slight weakness in hock for me. Moved soundly in front but closer behind.

Open (4, 1a) 1st Heath's Ch Boughton Back To Blighty ShCM. Superb greyhound who deserves her CH title. Lovely sized bitch, with a beautiful head and expression. Dark eyes, neat rose ears, long flowing neck into good shoulders. Super front angles with great depth of chest and ribs well sprung, straight front and neat feet. Very shapely in body and flows into her rear angles. Moves so true from all angles however just felt my Irish Wolfhound had that extra sparkle on the final go round today. Thank you for bringing her under me. 2nd Kehoe & Phillips Anzacol Amazing Alika at Redcrown – as before. 3rd Kehoe & Phillips Affrhoda Ons Meisie Kya For Redcrown – I prefer this bitch to my 2nd for type but she lost all her sparkle in this class with the change of handler (looked a completely different bitch).

AV Hound.

Super head, very expressive eyes, good strong muzzle with reasonable flew and correct bite. Ribs well sprung with firm level topline into sturdy rear quarters, well bent stifles and strong hocks. She moves very soundly and shows no sign of age. BV. 2nd Fletchers Jarmane Lark Ascending Over Shuleah. 11 year old fawn Whippet dog who doesn't look his age. Handsome head, dark eye and correct bite. Strong neck however I would prefer a touch more length, into good shoulders and good front angles. Deep chest, straight front, strong pasterns and good feet (nails could be shorter). Ribs well sprung, pleasing topline and tuck up. Topline flows into his rear quarters. I would prefer more bend in stifle, hocks starting to weaken with age. Moved soundly around the ring. 3rd Handleys Top Tallulah Whippet bitch.

YKC Members' Handling Classes.

6-11 years. 1st Gosia Buchwold (age 7). Very smart young handler who was attentive to her dog throughout the class. She listened to my instructions carefully and carried them out accurately in both her table work and patterns. I was particularly impressed with her rapport with her dog and how she ensured and kept her patterns so tidy with such a big dog. She also performed excellent shadowing – I hate to see a handler who over shadows, subtle is always the best. 2nd Hudson Mills-Jones (age 6). I was so impressed with this young man and how confident he came across when showing his dog. He tried his best throughout the class to get his dog to follow his instructions. Continued to stack his dog as best he could even though his dog was being difficult he never gave up. I admire this. He listened to my instructions and carried them out very well on both the table and performing his patterns. Some more practice and he will trouble the best of handlers! 3rd Magda Buchwold (age 11). This young lady was really put through her paces giving her all trying to handle a large breed who was a very uncooperative young puppy. Again she never gave up trying to get her dog to perform but unfortunately her charge was not going to enable  her to showcase her skills. I really appreciated the effort though well done!

12-17 years. 1st Dylan Barrowclough (age 17). What a pleasant and talented handler. Very smartly dressed and full of confidence, he executed every instruction precisely and answered my questions quickly and efficiently. His patterns were clean and tidy and finished correctly. All through the class he had nothing but praise for his dog which was lovely to witness. A bright future ahead in this sport. 2nd Another very promising handler. Very smart young lady, a much quieter handler but nonetheless had great rapport with her dog. On the table she answered my questions quickly and correctly however when asked to show the dogs teeth she only showed the front of the dogs mouth and not all sides. Her pattern work was clean and precise however she did go between myself and the dog on the up and down.

18-24 years. 1st Lyndsey Jones (age 20). What a pleasant handler, another with a large breed who was only puppy. Lyndsey tried her best to get her dog to cooperate throughout the class but unfortunately he was not going to allow her to showcase her skills here. She was very sympathetic towards him and offered nothing but praise. She tried her best to show me his bite and answered my question correctly. She tried her best to get him to do pattern work but unfortunately he wasn't going to allow this and just wanted to go to his owner. Thank you for trying!

Adult Handling.

17-30 years. 1st Lyndsey Jones. Well what a change up! Lyndsey handled a different dog in this class; her own I believe. What a difference this made and I was able to fully assess just how talented she is as a handler. She was so sympathetic with her dog who was quite happy to perform for her. She answered my questions quickly and precisely, showed her dogs teeth gently and efficiently, her pattern work was seamless and her lines were very clean and tidy. In total sync all through the class and a joy to watch. Well done!

31-45 years. 1st Martine Taylor. A very quiet handler but noticeably spoke to and assured her dog throughout the class. She answered my questions correctly and her table work was very good. Her patterns were clean and correct and performed very well. 2nd Erica Jones. Another very quiet and pleasant handler. Erica answered my questions correctly, her table work was good and she performed her patterns well although a little messy on the up and down, cleaner lines would be better to enable the judge to assess her dog appropriately in a breed class. Other than this her patterns were correct and well executed.

46-59 years. 1st Alison Handley. A very pleasant and smart handler, Alison spoke to her dog throughout the class, her table work was good and she tried her best to show her dogs teeth who wasn't cooperating. Her pattern work was very clean and tidy and she went at the correct pace for her dog, however she did go between myself and the dog on her up and down. 2nd Nanette Lloyd. A lot of the same attributes as 1st. Nanette's table work was very good, she answered my questions correctly and her pattern work was very clean and tidy however they were executed incorrectly doing a circle rather than the triangle I asked for. If ever unsure please ask the judge to repeat their instructions. 3rd P E Humphrey. Another very pleasant lady who was very attentive to her dog. Her table work was very good however she did not show the dogs full bite as asked. Her pattern work was tidy and executed well however another who didn't listen and performed a circle rather than a triangle as asked.
