TURRIFF DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION OPEN SHOW – 4th August 2019. 

I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge the hounds and to the exhibitors who came along on the day. It was a lovely day with some difficult decisions but I am pleased with my choices. The committee did a grand job and the catering was excellent.

Afghan Open (2). 1 & BOB. Sinclair’s Joneca Ashes N’ Embers At Gothikland. 2 yr old bitch, nice head and eye with good pigmentation, well enough off for bone, balanced angulation, moved effortlessly, won on maturity. 2. Mackenzie’s Villiskin Alicia Of Eilthir (Imp Fin), 11 month old bitch, little untidy on the move coming back , good head and neck, ok for bone, good bend of stifle, carried stern well.

Borzoi Open (4,1). 1 & BOB. Swanson’s Dashava Moscow Of Altimarlach. 2 yr old dog preferred the overall outline of this dog, good bone, moved soundly, shown in good condition. 2. Swanson’s Nibrass Royal Blend Among Altimarlach 5 yr old dog, nice head and eye colour, good dentition, moved true, not quite the coat condition of 1.

Basset Open (5). 1 & BOB. Thomson’s Zanabek Cautious, 41/2 yr old bitch, good head and expression with well placed ears, well enough for bone, good tail carriage, nicely ribbed with good depth of chest. Moved well. 2. Thomson’s Rakefoot Hugo Lipiquer SHCM, 8 yr old dog larger mould than 1, good head and ear set, strong neck, well muscled, moved and handled well.

Whippet Junior (5). 1 & BOB. Cuthbert’s Marivdara Be My Baby At Lunaire, dog with Good head and ear set with dark pigmentation, well angulated, good depth of chest, moved true. 2 & BAVHP. Downing-Christie’s Orange Crush Des Plaines Des Bruyeres (Imp), dog of larger frame, good bone, well angulated nice eye and expression, good depth chest, preferred the overall size of 1.

Whippet Post Grad. (4,2). 1. Smith’s Marvidara Baby Driver At Cardinghill, dog I see little brother to Junior winner, good overall size, moved true out and back, correct bone, good depth chest, neat feet. 2. Forbes’ First To The Post, 5 yr old, good neck and topline and tailset, well angulated, at little messy on the out and back.

Whippet Open (8). 1. Wilson & Ballantine’s Speymalt Aurora Solstice, 5 yr old bitch, sweet head and expression, good neck, topline and tailset, well angled, moved true, in good condition. 2. Whyte’s Marvidara Best Man JW, 4 yr old dog, good head, enough bone, deep chest, moved true, prefer a darker eye.

Deerhound Open (4). 1 & BOB. Swanson’s Cotherstone Brogue Of Altimarlach SHCM, Bitch nearly 7, Lovely head and expression, dark eye, good depth chest, nice topline, well ribbed, moved true. 2. Swanson’s Cotherstone Dallas Dhu Of Altimarlach, 2 yr old dog, preferred the outline of 1, good neck, well enough off for bone, dark pigmentation, good angulation. Moved ok.

Dachshund Long Hair Open. (4,1). 1, BOB & G2. Paskin’s Kindeace Scarlett O’Hara, 1 & 2 could easily change places, appealing head deep chest, good neck topline and tailset, moved true, shown in lovely condition. 2. Paskin’s Cedavoch It’s Taboo At Kindeace, lovely dog with dark eye, good pigmentation, similar attributes to 1 with excellent movement.

Dachshund Wire Hair Open (1). 1, BOB & G4. Christie’s Tannahill Bergen At Decalleigh, yr old dog shown and handled well, a really happy chap, appealing head and expression, good neck, keel and depth of chest, good angulation, held top line on the move with good tail carriage.

Dachshund Smooth Haired Open (2). 1 & BOB. Kay’s Olimpius Pride Jump Up At Lochlip. 2 yr old dog, nice proportioned head with dark eye, good neck and keel, with level top line and well set on tail, nicely ribbed, enough bone, moved well. 2. Kay’s Grainne Lawnister At Lochlip, 4 yr old bitch, a bit short in back and carrying perhaps too much weight, good angles and feet, dark eye, head ok.

Dachshund Miniature Smooth Hair Open (3). 1 & BOB. Kay’s Lochlip I Cast A Spell On You, 4 yr old bitch, Chest well developed, nicely ribbed, well pigmented, moved true and with enthusiasm . 2. Offen’s Gordax Little Black Dress By Linconor, 2 yr old bitch head and expression good, strong neck, well angled, moved ok, not the top line of 1 on the stand.

AV Hound NSC Open (2). 1 & BAVHNSC & G1. Ritchie’s Broughadowey Raiden At Torrfionn. Irish Wolfhound, 3 yr old in magnificient condition, moved around the ring effortlessly, nothing to dislike about this dog, good bone, balanced angulation, appealing head, moved and handled well. Pleased to see he was awarded RBIS. 2. Phillip’s Vidana Amira S Berga Turi SHCM ( Imp Rus). Saluki. Love this bitch too, they could change places easily, lovely head, with good ear set, neck and top line and set on of tail, moved gracefully and true, shown in good condition. 

Beagle BOB & G3. Binks & Stewart’s Dughalmor I Am Legend. Young dog giving his handler a rough time, good bone and balanced angulation, good set on of tail which he carries well, nicely developed chest, appealing head and expression.

AVHMP (8,1). 1, BAVHMP & SBMPIS. Matthew’s Carvaha Fire N Ice, Beagle, 6 month old bitch smart dark tri bitch, appealing head and expression with good pigmentation, well set on ears and tail, good reach of neck, balanced angulation, perhaps carrying a little too much weight, moved well. 2. Wilson & Ballantyne’s Jasarat Valentino For Speymalt, Whippet. 6 months old, nice head with soft expression, good shoulder placement and nicely angulated, ok for bone, moved and handled well.

AV Hound Veteran (6). 1 & BAVHV. Cowie’s Ch Mumtaz Hercules SHCM, Saluki, 7 yr old dog in lovely condition, nice head and eye with good pigmentation, super outline, with correct angulation, well ribbed, good muscletone, moved true. 2. Paskin’s Ch Abydachs Summer Dream At Kindeace SHCM, LHD, 9 year old also shown in good condition, appealing head on to good shoulders, ample bone and depth of keel, moved true, handled well.

AV Hound Open (4,3). 1 Phillip’s Vidana Amira S Berega Turi SHCM. 2. Thomson’s Zanabek Cautious.
