North Of England Bearded Collie Club

I would like to thank the committee at NEBCC for the invitation to judge the Special Awards and for their hospitality on the day. Also thank you to my steward Graham Atkinson and all the exhibitors who entered under me, as ever there are never enough cards to hand out.

Special Award Junior Dog or bitch

1. Mr and Mrs M. and Miss L. Jay– Farmarens Drums of Spring at Talraz (Imp Sweden). 10 month old puppy with lovely head and expression and good pigment. Correct proportions. Good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm with balanced rear angulation. Moved effortlessly with reach and drive.

2. Mrs C. Stead and Mrs K. Edwards – Ramsgrove the Great Oopsie. 16 month old dog who has really matured over the last few months. Masculine head, good fore and rear angulation and moved with ease around the ring. Beautifully presented and handled. I was splitting hairs between 1 and 2 but just preferred the proportions of 1.

Special Award Post Graduate Dog or Bitch

1. Mr T. and Mrs C. Palfreyman – Scalbeck in the Spot Light for Barnswood. Three and a half year old bitch who is reaching maturity. Beautiful head and pigment and excellent front assembly. Correct harsh coat in excellent condition. Moved around the ring with reach and drive.

2. Mr and Mrs M. and Miss L. Jay – Talraz Gift of Gold. Two and a half year old who is still to reach full maturity. Excellent head with lovely expression. Eyes toning with coat. Adult coat of lovely colour and correct texture. Balanced angulation. Moved well but didn’t have as much reach and drive as 1 today.

Special Award Open Dog or Bitch

1. Mrs D. Beech – Dychix Meet Joe Black. A 7 year old dog who is easy to miss on first glance around the ring as he has plain markings. He is a masculine dog in his prime with a good head and expression and excellent pigment. Good angulation front and rear and length of body coming from length of rib. Moved with effortless reach and drive.

2. Mrs N. Edwards – Nellbrook Pure Imagination JW. This girl is a tender 2 years old and still to reach full maturity. She has a lovely head and expression, eyes toning with coat. Front and rear angulation is excellent and length comes from length of rib. Moved around the ring with an effortless ground covering stride. Only beaten today by a dog in his prime but I am sure she has a bright future.
