Wolsingham & Wear Valley Agricultural Society Open Show (KC dog section)

Shetland Sheepdog

Judge: Mr Dylan Barrowclough (Shadowess)

Sunday 8th September 2019

Firstly, I would like to thank the show society for inviting me to judge the Shelties, it was a very pleasant first time judging with friendly members of the organisation, meaning I enjoyed the whole experience. Also, a huge thank you to the stewards who worked alongside me in the ring on the day.

PUPPY

1st : 331 – Redpath – MOLSON MIROQUAI

This 7 month old puppy dog had a very attentive expression, which completed a nice profile of the well balanced dog. The head always carried proudly by a pleasant long neck. Powerful drive at the rear on the move finished a fine presentation.

JUNIOR

1st : 333 – Sangster – ZANIAH MONO TONE OF DRUMCAUCHLIE

This dog caught my eye with its sweet expression, followed by the excellent set on of ears which showed alertness to their surroundings. A well sprung rib cage, strong pasterns and a clean-cut hock joint completed a pleasing winner for the class.

2nd : 332 – Hardman – SEAVALL TARAN

This dog had a beautiful coat with long tail feathers, which compliments its level topline giving a striking appearance. Enough muscle around the stifle gave strength to the rear, however, my first place displayed better movement on the day.

POST GRADUATE (3,2)

1st : 334 - Bird & Caden – MOLSON MR BLUE SKY JW

This dog had a very attractive head, with a good set on of ear and a tight scissor bite. Along with this complimented desiring almond shaped eyes. A well-set upper arm and a nice level topline concludes the deserving winner for the class.

2nd : 338 – Savage – WILLOWTHORN KOBALT STAR BY SAVATAURUS JW

This handsome blue-merle dog with a full coat had sweet expression with good ear set and almond shaped eyes. The profile of the body presented well with correct upper arm and a long tail showing gracefulness in the dog. However awarded second as my first place presented a better outline during movement on the day.

3rd : 335 – Fawcett – NORTHERN PRIDE FOR RONSADALE

OPEN (3,2)

1st : 339 – Clegram – SMIDDYSHAW RELIGHT MY FIRE ShCM

Wow! This bitch had a very pretty, feminine head which was carried sweetly with a long neck and a beautiful coat. Correct set on of ears showed alertness throughout. A nice construction of upper arm and great spring of rib gave a graceful front end. This bitch had balanced, lithe movement with powerful drive from the rear. Couldn’t be denied BOB on the day.

2nd : 340 – Clegram – SIMCOURT THE SHOW MUST GO ON AT SMIDDYSHAW

This bitch had a sweet head and beautifully shaped eyes, in which was complimented by the long neck. Well sprung ribs and good shoulders helped to show the dogs elegant outline, not quite as much drive on the move as the winner.

3rd : 341 – Fawcett – DOONELODGE DANCE TEMPO ShCM

BOB – 339 – Clegram – SMIDDYSHAW RELIGHT MY FIRE ShCM

BPIB – 331 – Redpath – MOLSON MIROQUAI
