Oxfordshire Canine Society

Oxfordshire Canine Society 3rd August 2019

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge, the exhibitors for entering under me and the various stewards who kept things going in the various rings.

Afghan Hound

Class 1. Puppy D/B (1,1)

Class 2. Post Grad D/B (1,0) 1. Heath’s Davashey Who’s That Girl 6 yrs b. Mature bitch, feminine. Pleasing head, dark eye of correct shape giving good expression. Strong neck, well laid shoulder, forelegs ok. Moderate back, well sprung ribs, nicely angled, muscular rear. Moved well given the restricted size of ring, good tail carriage. RBOB.

Class 3. Open D/B (3,1) 1. Canon’s Multi Ch Calamus Mediator (IMP) SHCM 7 yrs d. Mature male, in lovely coat and condition, dignified expression typical of the breed. Muscular head of correct proportions, pleasing expression. Good front, well placed shoulder, ribs ok, muscular back of moderate length. Well anguled and muscular rear which he used well on the move. Moved out and back well and presented a nice profile. BOB. 2. Green, Barley & Powell’s Garamond Wineberry At Sochera 5 yrs b. Balanced feminine profile when stacked. Good head, eye and expression, well angled front and rear, would have preferred a little more condition, coverage. Troubled by the floor in the venue which was a shame.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Class 4. Puppy D/B (1,0) 1. Dickson’s Globalridge Red Carnelian 7 mths d. Lovely masculine puppy mature for one so young, covers the ground well. Typical head, correct head planes, good eye with bright intelligence expression, good ears set on well. Nice prominent sternum, good ribs, well sprung. Well placed shoulder, good bone & feet. Well covered, maturing nicely. Moved well and coped with the small ring and floor well. BPIB

Class 5. Post Grad D/B (2,0) 1. Hicks‘ Nuthouse Queen Of Clubs 13 mths b. RBOB. Feminine exhibit, presents balanced profile when stacked. Typey head, nice eye and expression, good ears. Well placed shoulder, good front assembly, nice deep chest, ribbed well back. Well off for bone, nice tight feet. Well covered and in good conditions. Moved well. Won on overall balance and bone. 2. Taylor’s Tokwe Truly Gintastic 2 yrs b. Of different type to 1. Pleasing head, eye and ears, front is ok, decent bone. Nails need attention as this spoils the overall picture. Not 100% settled on the move which was a shame.

Class 6. Open D/B (4,1) 1. Catharell’s CH Faahac Free N’Easy JW SHCM 4 yrs d. Typey male, well balanced in profile. Masculine head, correct proportions, good eye and ear. Good forechest, nicely laid back shoulder, good straight forelegs, nice bone. Strong muscular back, well muscled rear which he used well on the move, covering the ground with purpose. BOB 2. Dickson’s Globalridge Star Of India 8 yrs b. Lovely mature bitch, showing her age but enjoying her time in the ring. Feminine head, good eye and intelligence expression. Well made throughout, mature and in lovely hard condition. Moved ok. 3. Hicks’ Nuthouse Some Like It Hot 2yrs b

Grad Basset Griffon Vendeen

Class 12. Puppy D/B (1,1)

Class 13. Post Grade D/B (3,0) 1. Jackson & Marks’ Duntech Georges 13 mths d. Very typey male, orange & white balanced in profile. Gorgeous noble head with correctly domes skull, lovely dark eye and nose, lovely long leathers, set correctly. Well constructed through out, good feet, nicely boned and maturing nicely. Decent coat, moved well with good tail carriage. RBOB. 2. Jackson & Marks’ Duntech Giselle 13 mths b. Littermate of 1. Feminine bitch, grizzle & white, a lot to like. Nice head, lovely dark eye and nose. Front is ok, ribs ok and moderately angled at rear, would just like a little more of her. Nice coat and moves okay but just lacks in confidence but that will come I’m sure. Won over 3 who was really playing his handler up. 3. Knowles’ Reggaedog Frodo (IMP SVK)

Class 14. Open D/B (4,2) 1. O’Days CH Silvamoon Sweet Sapphire SHCM 10 yrs b. Super tri-colour veteran in fabulous condition for her age, a credit to her owner. Lovely typey bitch, feminine head of correct proportions, correct leathers, good dark eye and nose. Good front construction, forelegs and feet, nice deep chest and ribbed well back, moderate at rear. Just the right amount of bone giving her substance without being overdone. Her coat shows her age but in fabulous condition. Moves well, handled well. BOB. Tri-colour, 2. O’Days Casablanca Succession Of Baron At Madifrey SHCM (IMP POL) 6 yrs b. A different type to 1, longer and lower cast bitch. Head to die for, correct head planes, nicely domes, nice dark eyes giving lovely expression. Well constructed and well off for bone just a touch shorter in the leg than I would have liked. Excellent feet, good coat. Moved well just need a little more of her for my liking.

AVNSC Hound

Class 18. Puppy D/B (2,0) 1. Chapman Reith’s Wanderhund Lets Celebrate For Hayvenhund (Dachs Smooth Haired) 10 mths b. Very nice B/T bitch, nicely balanced in profile. Feminine head, nice dark eye with mischievous expression. Good front assembly, nice prominent sternum, deep chest, ribbed well back and nicely off for bone. In excellent condition with gleaming coat. Good feet and nice short nails. Moved with purpose and attitude, delighted to aware her BPIB. Bird’s Africandawns Jimmy Riddle (Dachs Long Haired) 11 mths d. Another nice example, balanced when stacked. Masculine, in lovely condition and coat is coming through. Pleasing head, nice dark eye. Prominent forechest, nicely made throughout and well bodied. Moved well when settled just didn’t seem to like the floor today.

Class 19. Post Grad D/B (5,2) What a lovely class, range of ages making the decision a difficult one but some lovely youngsters on their way up. 1. Howlett’s Skyswift Moonlite Serenade (Greyhound) 2 yrs b. Lovely feminine example of the breed, so balanced in profile and doesn’t disappoint on the move. Pleasing head, nice dark eye; nice clean shoulder, deep chest, in hard muscular condition. Well muscled rear which shows on the move. Moved exceptionally well, covering the ground despite the small ring. BOB 2. No 403, details not provided (Greyhound) 22mths, d. Gorgeous dark brindle male. A youngster but maturing nicely just needs time to mature. Lovely head with darkest of eye giving a really intelligent expression. Well made throughout and nice deep chest, well covered and nice muscular rear. Just not as settled as 1 on the move but am sure on another day these two would swap places. 3. Skinner’s Classicus Alron (Saluki) Res. Hoggren’s Garamiyas Rostam (IMP SWE) (Saluki) VHC. Metselaar-Williams’ Kaleginny Eldrigg At Grendel (Deerhound).

Class 20. Open D/B 9 (6,1) 1. Mcbain & Stevens’ Bondlea Layman (Beagle) 7 yrs d. Lovely balanced tri-colour beagle, nothing exaggerated here but a real hound. Typical beagle head, nice dark eye giving the correct expression, good leathers set correctly. Nicely constructed front with straight forelegs and nice feet. Bodied well, keeps his topline and nicely angled at rear. Well muscled which shows in his movement, moves well out and back and with good tail carriage on the move. RBOB. 2. Howlett & Howden’s Skyswift New Moon (Greyhound) 2 yrs d. Another nice young Greyhound. Balanced in profile. Nice head into strong neck and well laid shoulder, nice deep chest and good forelegs. Nicely angled rear, good inner thigh. In good harsh muscular condition. Won over 3 on the move. 3. Skinner’s Skyswift Moonlite Tango (Greyhound) 2 yrs d. Res. Skinner’s Classicus Alron (Saluki) VHC. West’s Archidax Bonneville Min Smooth HairedDachshund) 8 yrs b.

Reserve Best Of Breed Hound Group Stakes. 1. Mcbain & Stevens’ Bondlea Layman (Beagle) 7 yrs d. Lovely balanced tri-colour beagle, nothing exaggerated here but a real hound. Typical beagle head, nice dark eye giving the correct expression, good leathers set correctly. Nicely constructed front with straight forelegs and nice feet. Bodied well, keeps his topline and nicely angled at rear. Well muscled which shows in his movement, moves well out and back and with good tail carriage on the move. 2. Parker’s Gavroche Des Plaines De La Mare Jouenne Avec Kantilou (IMP FR) (Basset Bleu De Gascogne) 7 yrs d. Lovely masculine dog, mature and in lovely hard condition. Pleasing head, well developed occiput with soulful expression. Strong neck into well laid shoulder, forelegs ok, nice deep chest, ribbed ok, moderate at rear. Moves with purpose carrying tail nicely.

Terrier Group

1. Kettle’s Foxindean Prettiest Star 16 mths b. Smooth Fox Terrier. Caught my eye on entering the ring. Nice typey bitch, feminine but really covering the ground. Feminine head, cut away nicely and with good strong jaws. Darkest of eyes giving that expectant alert expression. Neat ears, used well. Feminine from top to toe, nicely boned throughout and in great muscular condition. Moved and handled well.

2. Bamsey’s Holbam Celtic Wizzard 9 mths d. Irish Terrier. Lovely youngster. Masculine head, long with flat skull and cut away nicely. Strong neck into good shoulders and elbows, straight forelegs and good feet. Prominent forechest, ribs ok and moderate at the rear. Muscular for his age and moves out well and covering the ground in profile. Correct harsh coat.

3. Rolland’s Dandiroyal Cotswold Dream 15 mths b. Dandie Dinmont Terrier. Another nice youngster. Typical head, broad skull with large dark eyes giving delightful expression. Good leathers, set correctly. Good front assembly, prominent chest and well sprung ribs. Decent coat, Moved well.

4. Nash’s Ralph Of House Nash 2 yrs d. Norfolk Terrier Compact dog in profile, typical broad skull with wedge shaped muzzle, nice dark eye. Correct ears dropping forwards. Strong neck into well laid back shoulder, straight forelegs and good feet. In good coat and condition. Moved well, delightful character.

Terrier Puppy Group

1. Bamsey’s Holbam Celtic Wizzard 9 mths d. Irish Terrier. Lovely youngster. Masculine head, long with flat skull and cut away nicely. Strong neck into good shoulders and elbows, straight forelegs and good feet. Prominent forechest, ribs ok and moderate at the rear. Muscular for his age and moves out well and covering the ground in profile. Correct harsh coat.

2. Newport’s Digaden Tip Top 9 mths b. Parson Russell Terrier. Feminine bitch in profile, nothing exaggerated. Typical wedge shaped head, moderate skull with dark eye and pigment. Clean ears used well. Well constructed throughout, strong neck into well laid shoulders and good front, muscular body, ribs ok, moderate at rear. Excellent feet. In good coat / condition. Moved well.

3. South’s Borderella Sunflower Seed 11 mths b. Border Terrier. Delightful example of the breed, feminine but really playing up her handler today. Moderately broad head, short muzzle, nice dark eye and pigment, good ears. Good front assembly, deep chest and well ribbed, well muscled. Good feet. Moved well.

4. Kinchin’s Pennidazzle Dream Of Dreams 8 mths b. Cairn Terrier. Another character, giving their handler the run-around but enjoying their day. Broad skull, well defined stop, dark eye and pigment, strong muzzle and with good furnishings. Good ears. Nicely made front, good tight elbows, straight forelegs, good ribs, strong rear. Moved well, with purpose.

Gundog Group

1. Peebles’ Keigame Belle Of All 13 mths b. German Short Haired Pointer. Eye catching bitch, clean lines and balanced when stacked. Pleasing head with nice eye, good ears. Strong neck, good muscular shoulders and straight forelegs, good chest & ribs. Moved out and back well and in profile covers the ground. Delighted to aware her Gundog Group 1.

2. Hazeltine & Upton’s SH CH Hookwood By George JW SHCM 4 yrs d. Pointer. Mature male, graceful in profile yet powerful and muscular. Typey head with well defined stop, nicely cut away with nice wide nostrils. Long strong neck into well laid sloping shoulder, nice deep chest and straight muscular forelegs. Nicely ribbed, muscular loin, muscular rear with well defined inner thigh. Good feet. Really moved well for his handler, driving and covering the ground despite the ring being quite small.

3. Hazeltine, Crowther & Alcorn’s Hundwith Chortle With Hookwood JW SHCM 2 yrs b. Weimaraner Pleasing head with good eyes and ears, really flows from nose to tail when you go over her. Clean neck, good shoulders and well developed chest, ribs extending well back, moderate angulation at rear. Really covers the ground, driving from the rear.

4. Prangle’s Heathclare American Dollar JW SHCM 2 yrs d. Irish Setter Balanced masculine dog when stacked. Nice head, good head planes, dark eye and good leathers. Muscular neck set into well laid shoulder, strong forelegs and well developed check, well sprung ribs, good angles at rear. Underneath the coat is a well well-conditioned and muscular dog which shows when he is on the move. Moves well when he gets going.

Gundog Puppy Group

1. Rose’s Braccorions Meant To Be With Piccorino 11 mths b. Bracco Italiano Super puppy, feminine in profile and with a lovely typey head, good eyes & ears. Well placed shoulders, good forelegs and excellent feet. Well bodied and ribbed but really excels in movement, really drives from the rear and covers the ground with purpose in profile.

2. Hazeltine & Welch’s Pipeaway Teasing Georgia At Hookwood 9 mths b. Pointer Another cracking puppy, ultra feminine. Typical headpiece, good eyes and ears. Strong neck into well laid shoulder, muscular forelegs and good feet. Ribs ok, muscular strong rear Moves well when settled.

3. Woolley’s Chesvik Top If You Wish You Can At Challeymead (IMP) 11 mths b Am Cocker Spaniel Feminine head, well developed and with prominent stop, well chiselled and nice dark eyes giving a lovely expression. Underneath that coat there is a strong muscular dog, in super condition. Well made throughout and covering the ground well effortlessly on the move.

4. Barnes’ Challowdown Day Tripper 10 mths d. Cocker Spaniel Quite raw but delightful puppy, nice head with well developed skull, square muzzle and nice dark eye giving gentle expression. Good leathers. Muscular neck into strong sloped shoulder, nice straight forelegs, well boned. Well developed chest and good ribs, muscular rear with good angulation. Enjoying his day out giving his owner the run-around, he will come together in time.

1. Sutton’s Nikito’s NothingLikeNormal JW 2 yrs b. Smooth Coat Chihuahua Compact dog, feminine with plenty of attitude. Correct domed skull with nice dark eyes and good ears. Nicely bodied, compact with level topline, moderate angles at rear, moved well with plenty of attitude.

1.Hemsley’s Taemarus Amazing Grace 2 yrs b. Lhasa Apso Feminine in profile, pleasing head with nice dark eye and good furnishings. Good shoulders straight forelegs and ribbed well back, good angulation at rear, well muscled inner thigh. IN excellent coat and condition, moves effortlessly, handled very well.

1.Cameron’s Camniore Ghost Kato 9 mths b. Newfoundland. Lovely feminine example, really balanced in profile. Nice head, broad with short clean muzzle, nice dark eye and good ears. Strong neck, well laid shoulder and powerful forelegs, straight and with good feet. Well developed chest and ribbed well back, strong loin and muscular rear. Moved out well and in profile really moves with purpose covering the ground.

1.Williams & Toublic’s Cobhay Dahlia 7 yrs b. English Springer Spaniel. Mature bitch, pleasing head, typical of the breed. Strong muscular neck and well placed shoulder, well developed chest and good ribs. Moderate at the rear. In lovely condition, moved and handled well a credit to her young handler.

1.Day’s Tribannon Chocolate Chip At Trekhill 14 mths d. Cairn Terrier Super dog, so full of character. Broad skull, strong powerful muzzle and jaws, darkest of eyes and pigment giving that hardy expression. Well furnished head with neat ears. Compact and powerful in body, good ribs and muscular rear. Moves well, with purpose.

1.Cowley’s Callendu Despicable Me At Kashbeluli SHCM 5 yrs d. Mature male, presents a lovely outline when stacked. Strong muscular neck, well developed chest and ribs extending well back, strong loin and muscular rear. Moves out freely and effortlessly.
