South Yorkshire Hound Society 7th December 2019

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge, the exhibitors for entering under me and my stewards who kept things going in the various rings. I understand it is the last year at this venue which is a shame as this is a fabulous venue.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne

Class 9. Puppy D/B (1,1) 1. Russell’s Shiroblam Serendipity 10 mnths b. Nice youngster, balanced in profile, good head with correct proportions, good ears of correct texture and set on well. Front construction is okay, well off for bone, ribs are okay and moderately angled at rear. Moves well and am sure she will have a bright future. Correct harsh coat. BPIB / RBOB

Class 19. Junior (0,0)

Class 11. Post Grad (0,0) .

Class 12. Open (3,1, 2) 1. Bendle & Blenvins‘ CH Blevwill Nick Nack 3 yrs d. Quality male I have judged before and I think one that improves with maturity. Typey dog, typical of the breed and in excellent coat and condition. He is balanced in profile, compact and has a beatiful head, masculine, nice dark eye, good pigment and correct head proportions; excellent leathers. Construction is good through, nice short, strong loin and good forequarters mean he moves well out and back as well as in profile. Pleased to award him BOB.

Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen

Class 13. Puppy (0,0)

Class 14. Junior (1,1,0)

Class 15. Post Graduate (1,1,0)

Class 16. Open (3,1,2) Nice class, am sure these two will swap places in the future. 1. Makey’s CH/INT/BEL CH Gairside Good Lord JW, SHCM, CW19 4 yrs, Grizzle/White d. Mature male giving balanced outline in profile. Correct head, nice dark eye and good pigment, lovely leathers of correct length and set on well. Front assembly is okay, adequate bone, good feet. Ribbed well back and moderate at the rear. In good coat and condition. Moves out well and keeps his toppling when moving in profile; good tailcarriage. Won on his condition although wouldn’t want him carrying more weight. BOB 2. Bailey & Yates’ Tarmachan Ice Cool 3 yrs, Tri d. This dog is coming into his prime and I think will improve with age. Nothing is exaggerated here, he has a lovely head, correctly domed skull, big black nose, good leathers set correctly. Construction is good throughout, front assembly is good and ribbed well back, strong loin however he could do with a few more pounds and a touch more muscle for my liking. Fabulous coat of correct texture. Moves well. RBOB
