SOUTH WESTERN GUNDOG CLUB – 19th October 2019

BRACCO ITALIANO

Grad (2,0) 1 & BOB Critchleys BRACCORIONS NEVER SAY NEVER. Good head, open nostrils. Good in upper arm. Good ribbing through length and depth and spring. Strong well developed in quarters. Typical gait with plenty reach and drive. 2. Critchleys SAZMALLIN DOLLYWAGON PIKE Plainer in head than the winner but still plenty to like. Straight front, and a shade steep in shoulder. Very nice in rear, good ribbing and depth throughout. Very sound out, back and around. Just preferred the overall type of the winner. A very good mover.

Open (1,0) Critchleys S DOLYWAGON PIKE

GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER

Grad (3,1) 1, RBOB & BPIB Chilcotts DRYSIKA GLEN LOCHY. Liked this one for type and although young, just was a bit more my style. Pleasing in all areas but just needs a bit more schooling to get the best from her. Loved her overall balance and make and shape. Could do with a shade more upper arm but she has many other virtues. I liked her moderation in angulation and correct coat texture. Pleasing head piece and good eye. 2. Duddridges ANKERWYCKE MINNIE THE MINX Built on different lines than 1, taller, and of different frame. Would prefer a darker eye and more development in foreface. Rather light in bone and with sweeping stifles and rear. Moved at one with her handler and was fairly sound.

Open (2,1) 1 & BOB Chilcotts FLEETAPPLE DOLLAR Good in body proportions and frame, with enough bone and of good balance front and rear. Pleasing head with good eye and ears. Strong in neck without abruptness into withers. Great ribbing and short in loin. Good width over first and second thighs. Sound out, back and around. Liked his moderation whilst still retaining his essentials.

ITALIAN SPINONE

Grad Dog/Bitch (3,1) 1 & RBOB Mortimers SCODINZOLARE PERLESCENTI Very appealing head with the most gorgeous expression. Straight true front. Super upper arm and prosternum. Good layback of shoulder, and full in ribs. Good in quarters. Super on around and towards, just a little untidy on the away. Lots to commend. 2. Kewps PENDIO LETIZIA Height to length proportions good, lacking a little fill in front. Good width over her rear thigh areas but rather weak in hock joint and pastern. Needs to tidy up on the move.

Open Dog/Bitch (2,1) 1 & BOB Kruglows AMBERELLIE ADRIANNA Loved her head and expression. Oozes quality. Super ear set and length. Straight in front with good upper arm and decent lay of shoulder. Super depth and spring of rib, strong in width over her first and second thighs. She could do with a bit more work in her muscling but otherwise for type and style she presented an appealing BOB today.

CLUMBER SPANIELS

Open D/B (2,1) Claxtons ANBROOK OLIVIA ROSE AT FIVERITES Rally smart with so much appeal. Delightful head and eye with good expression. Good in front assembly with super upper arm and prosternum, and lay of shoulder with matching rear angulation. Level topline with excellent ribbing. Excellent feet and bone. Super smart on the move – one of my favourites from the day.

ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIELS

Grad D/B (2, 0) 1 & BPIB Holmans ROQFOLLY JUMPIN JACK FLASH Good balance, compact and not too long. Decent size. Very good little body with cracking tailset. Just a shade tied in front. Head pleasing but would prefer a shade darker in eye. Really nice on the around movement. 2 Kibbys TRIXHUND SCARLETT RIBBONS Needs to develop some more in movement. Good coat and good depth and length of rib.

Open D/B (2,0) 1 & BOB Kibbys ROQFOLLY STAR SENSATION FOR FLOURENN taf Pleasing angles, moved ok. Good in quarters, and rear pastern length. Decent feet. Good topl;ine and tailset. Pleasing head too. Needs to settle a bit more with handler but did enough today to take BOB. 2. Holmans ROQFOLLY ENDEAVOUR FOR ARTYCREATH. Nice type. Decent bone, straight true in front and with good ribbing. Moved with enthusiasm.

FIELD SPANIELS

Grad D/B (3,1) Two litter sisters headed this class – both with much to like but rather different than each other. Both very nicely put together with the deciding factor being coat and finish ‘on the day’. I hate to say can change places on another day but this is very apt for these two girls. 1 & BOB Reeces KINGSMIST PHYRE FISCHER AT BROOMEECE Liked her shape and overall balance and correctness. Good in angulation all through, nicely developed in ribs and loin. Straight solid front with good angulation. Good width over first and second thighs with correct amount of bend in stifle. Short from hock to heel and moves so well, carrying herself so proudly for her young handler. Loved her showmanship and overall correctness with lack of exaggeration. 2. Hardings KINGSMILL MISS MARPLE JW Angles on this girl are slightly better than her sister but it is the overall picture on the day. She is a bit lacking in her furnishings and needs a bit of time but both lovely girls and I was torn. I always believe its what is in front of you not what they might become on another day. I look forward to seeing them both another time.

Open D/B (3,0) 1. Reeces K PHYRE FISCHER AT B. 2. Hardings KINGSMILL LADY IN BLACK Many similar qualities in this stock as was in the other classes. Just a shade too exaggerated in hindquarters for my preference. 3. Porters PRUSSIA BEST KEPT SECRET OF WINSBROOK

WELSH SPRINGER SPANIELS

Grad D/B (4,2) 1 Bests AMBLELIGHT OPHELIA Very nicely presented in gleaming coat and good condition. Decent front, good depth and good length of rib. Would prefer a shade more leg length for absolute overall balance to my eye. Straight in front and with good enough angulation fore and aft. Good attitude on the move. 2. Lampersbergers BENOVEOR PLAYING FOR KEEPS TO KURZEJA Better in length to height proportions than 1 but lacked in overall constructional qualities. Moved happily.

Open Dog (1,0) 1 Attwoods IR SH CH KYLOWEN DRYM ShCM Well presented and in the best of condition. Overall balance and quality was good. Pleasing enough in head. Nice prosternum, upper arm. Good bone and feet. Really good width throught the quarters. Just a shade steep in croup and has good depth and length of rib. In full coat and moved out well.

Open Bitch (3,0) 1 & BOB Morgans GARBETH MIDSUMMER MAYHEM AT QUENSHA This veteran girl is pure quality and I am quite shocked she is untitled – if this is the case I can’t wait to judge them at Championship level. I was delighted to have her here to day. Gorgeous head with cleaness and chiselling. Super finish to her foreface and lip. Clean in neck and good through neck and shoulder line. Level back with good balance in front and rear assemblies with enough of everything but no exaggeration. She is moderate and classy and moved with the carriage and something extra that is inbuilt and just comes naturally through her construction. Has type, soundness and appeal in abundance. Lampersbergers BENOVEROR FIELD OF DREAMS TO KUREJA 3. Attwoods KYLEOWEN DEMELZA
