Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society

Bakewell Agricultural Society 21st July 2019.

Honoured to be asked to do BIS at this lovely show. A super line up from the Group judges and I was spoilt for choice.

BIS was the stunning Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch, Hodge’s Colkeririn Face To The Sun JW, ShCM, who looked the part, being strong but athletic, lovely head type and was quality through and through. Moved with an easy gait and latent power. Just took my breath away today. I later heard she has her title and it is no surprise at all.

RBIS the beautiful Siberian Husky, Hughes’s Jacalous Mockingjay for Siberiadrift JW.

BPIS – the Samoyed, Freer’s Nikara Follow That Dream, who is surely destined for the top. Such a complete picture even at this age. Balance and movement were just right with that extra star quality giving him the edge. I see he is sired by a legend; I think he may follow in those footsteps.

RBPIS – the Skye Terrier, Miller and Ryan’s Flanagan Energizer at Feorlig (imp SVK). Such an impressive puppy with excellent head, ear and strength of jaw. Moved with ideal strides – hindquarters well in line with front and without excessive lift. Good length of body. A real eye-catcher. Pushed hard but still displaying a touch of ‘puppy topline’ which is to be expected just now.

Junior Handling 6-11 (7)

1st Paige Hughes. Good understated handling with no ‘fussiness’ and always keeping an eye on the dog and the judge. Very aware of the best speed to show off the dog’s paces. A very professional performance.

2nd Amelie Smith. Also a proficient performance with dog being kept at best speed and positioning most of the time. Gracious in accepting the 2nd place. So uplifting to see.

3rd Ben Botterill. I must make a mention of this young lad who I believe was doing his first handling class. A lovely gentle handler who had his charge’s comfort on his mind at all times. Hope he keeps at it.

12-16 years

1st Jessica Smith. Another smooth performance with no obstruction of the dog but such subtle actions to ensure the dog was in full view. Used the best speed to enhance the pace. Well done.

Siberian Husky

Post Grad (3 1 abs)

1st Jacalous Mockingjay for Siberiadrift JW. BOB. A very smart 20 month bitch with effective angulation, good strength of topline with ideal loin. Superb headpiece with well set and shaped eye, excellent earset and alert, bright expression. Just looked the part from all angles and I could have watched her move all day with her easy gait. In tip top condition and continued to impress me at the end of the day when she was RBIS.

2nd Rock Me Amadeus. Slightly deeper through loin/flank, super topline and a very mature outline. Not quite as true in front as 1st.

Open (4 2 abs)

1st Siberiadrift Keep Forever JW ShCM. 3yr bitch of lovely type with beautiful head and eye giving alert expression. Well shaped neck giving some elegance to her outline. Moderate angulation gave her positive movement and good foot placement. RBOB

2nd R M Amadeus.

Welsh Corgi (Pemb)

Puppy (1)

1st Daleabbeys Aurora. 6 month tricolour who was full of enthusiasm and made her handler work! Still developing in topline but was firmly muscled. Moved well with brisk strides and on well shaped feet. Lovely head with good ear placement. BPIB

Junior (1)

1st Time To Me To Fly Valhalos Sargas. 16 month bitch with feminine outline, pleasing head and eye shape. A fraction softer in muscle than ideal but carried it well on the move.

Post Grad (2 1 abs)

1st TTMTF Valhalos Sargas. Repeat.

Open (2)

1st Meitza Erik The King JW. Very nice male with enough strength of body and character to do the job. Well built with strong muscle but not overdone. Loved his head and eye, with earset just right and setting off his expression. Moved in no-nonsense fashion with well held topline and using his good angulation to best effect. BOB.

2nd TTMTF Valhalos Sargas.

AV Import Reg

Puppy (1)

1st Pajkos Fine N Dandy (imp) Pumi. 10 month male with well carried ears, good in neck with slight arch, good curl of coat and ok in topline. Super front which showed on the move. Just a little more practice need to ‘fine tune’ him in the ring.

Open (10 2 abs)

1st Xipilli Element of Desire for Bondor (imp Swe) Xolo. Great type combined with muscle, tight fitting skin and well shaped head. Moved with a spring to his step and characteristic head and tail carriage. Possibly a tad wider in front than I would prefer but a super example of type and correct conditioning.

2nd Cseresznyeskerti-Csalfa Zajos (Hun imp) Pumi. Lovely character with such appeal from well shaped head, eye and ears. Especially good in front construction. Alertness showed in his clockwork movement. Coat very natural without overtrimming.

3rd Bailey of Sereno Spirit (imp Esp)

AV Puppy Stakes (39)

1st Nikara Follow That Dream – Samoyed.

2nd Quincerhound Oreo Bark. 10 month Beagle. Well put together and handled to best advantage. Attractive head piece with well set ears, excellent eye, good neck and topline and moved his way to this place. Only beaten by another outstanding puppy who upped his game on performance.

3rd Capearlla Imperial Topaz.

Junior (34)

1st Vizslanya Sziena JW.Vizsla. In best condition and certainly fit for function in the field. Clean in head with noble profile, correct ears and muscular neck running into firm topline. Just right for angulation which showed up as grace and soundness on the move.

2nd Zentaur Hot Diggity (AI) – Newf. Well shaped and developing the strength of body needed in this breed. So true in front, excellent head with kind expression. Moved easily from all angles. Have judged him a few months ago and how he has matured since then. Pushed the winner hard but understandably has more to come.

3rd Keepersguard Ragnar’s Wrath.

Post Grad (35)

1st Milesend Sea Pearl. 3yr Sheltie of good type. Such a sweet expression enhanced by well set ears and good eye. In excellent quality coat. Moved efficiently while retaining her shape.

2nd Phantomfuror Guava. W/H Vizsla. On his overall construction and type, this was a very eye catching male with good coat texture, as well as being constructed to work. So very impressive in front while perfectly balanced. Moved well enough to show off his soundness but a little exuberant today!

3rd Teisgol Double Trigger.

Open (45)

1st Incalux Much Ado About Jaxtu ShCM. These two Tibetan Terriers vied for top spot and both have so much to commend them albeit in different ways. 1st being younger had a slightly more reachy gait although neither could be faulted on movement. Lovely head proportions with defined stop and eye socket bone. In super coat and well presented.

2nd Int /Lux/Be Ch Layoli Hot N Smokin JW ShCM. Very pleasing in head although slightly different in type. Slightly more strength of underjaw than 1st which was pleasing to see. Lively gait and super outline. Front was spot on and topline just so.

3rd Honeymist Posh Peanuts at Chancete.

AV Veteran (21)

1st Stecal’s Atomic Storm of Kandamar. 10 year old Akita in superb condition. A real stunner who could give the youngsters a run even now. Excellent shape of head and ears, strong topline and loin, moved with powerful strides and didn’t put a foot wrong.

2nd Ch Carbonnie Callieco Star for Kelligrews JW ShCM. 7 year Beardie in immaculate condition and a great credit to the owner. Still in beautiful bloom and moving with an easy, efficient stride. Head of good proportions with correct width between ears, well shaped muzzle and looking good from all angles. Close up.

3rd Glowhill Bella Marie at Sanmatayo

AV Brace (18)

1st Fajardo’s Cocker Spaniels. So close for type and gait. Good quality pair of veterans who still have it. Excellent performance and moving true.

2nd Burgess’s Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. Very good for type although a slight difference in age showed a little variation while the younger one is still developing. Good on the move and with very good tail carriage.

3rd Whitchurch’s Shetland Sheepdogs.

AV Champion Stakes (15)

1st Sh Ch Vizslanya Vivmany by Highforce JW ShCM ShCEx. My notes say ‘wow’ and I really could not fault this stunning bitch. So well put together with angulation just right for the job, body proportions in complete balance with her lovely head. In movement, she was graceful with plenty of energy without being overdone. Quality from all angles. An honour to judge her. I saw later that I also favoured a relative of hers in an earlier class – well done to the breeder for such consistent quality.

2nd Ch Millbelle Fernie JW JWW18. Top quality Dalmation with excellent profile showing that lovely neck and topline, well shaped clean head with strong muzzle. Well carried tail. Obvious strength combined with agility. Angulation just right and produced free, long reaching movement.

3rd Ch Droolakiss Mis Busy Body at Murrayvhayle.
