GUILDFORD & DCS 8/12/19

Congratulations to Officers and Committee on producing a happy, well run show.

Thank you to my brilliant, hardworking (slightly bonkers) steward Bonnie, and to the good humoured exhibitors.

Field Spaniels:

Puppy (1):

1st Adams and Lewis’s Irisbel Cherish You.

A beautifully presented 9mos black bitch. Happy, confident and delightfully mischievous!

Decent head for age, showing early promise, can only benefit as chiselling develops.

Good sized spongey nose with open nostrils. Teeth ok.

Tight eye with kind, gentle expression, framed by well set ears of good length, and an abundance of silky feathering.

Good depth of chest, straight front and ok feet. Pleasing length of rib and back, strong in loin. Rear angulation moderate, and nicely muscled for age. Well set, ever wagging tail completed a lovely picture.

Once settled, moved steadily, with purpose, and holding her topline. BOB;BP

Open (2,1a)

1st Bowen’s Kingsmist Rose at Clandrift

3.5 yrs Liver bitch, an honest sort, but in vest and knickers today.

Pretty, feminine head, with sweet, but everso slightly haughty expression.

Strong neck, ok front assembly, good depth and length of rib. Shown in hard condition.

Initially unsettled, moved ok, when her ‘runner’ found correct pace and speed.

Preferred the rear angulation and overall balance of my BOB, but happy to award RBOB

Cocker Spaniels:

Puppy (2, 1a)

1st Clarkes Conabec Periwinkle

9 mos B/R Dog.Head proportions ok, grave, gentle expression, although lower lids a little loose. Ear set good, of correct length and well feathered. Front assembly ok, thickly padded feet. Deep chest, well angulated rear. Balanced in outline, tail set correct.

Although slightly unsettled both on the table and on the move, he was sympathetically handled, which allowed me to assess sufficiently. BP

Junior (2, 1a)

1st Clifford’s Wyncastle’s Danish Affer of Chamford (Imp Hun)

Well up to size B/R Dog. Square and well balanced in outline. Masculine, but still slightly puppyish head

Soft expression. Happy temperament. Neck and shoulders ok, well developed chest, decent length of rib into short loin, moderate bend of stifle. Tail well set on, but was rather proud of it in this class, which rather detracted from his otherwise positive movement. However, in the challenge, he got his act together, dropped his tail, to give the typical ‘ merry ’ action. BOB

Open (3, 2a)

1st Clifford’s Serci After Dark at Shadow Amor of Chamford. (Imp SRB)

Another B/R Dog, presenting a well balanced, square outline. Ok head, gentlest of expressions.

Well made front assembly, standing firm on good feet. Well ribbed back. Short coupled. Well made hindquarters. Good tail set.

Moved well in his class, but didn’t give of his best in the challenge. RBOB
