Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at this well run show. I had a most enjoyable day and had the opportunity to go over some fabulous dogs.

Irish Setters

J(5,1) Splitting hairs with these first 2 exhibits.1 Bott, Allen & Morgan’s Quensha Back to Basics. 14 month old dog. Lovely balanced head and dark kind eye. His forelegs were straight and strong, and has good front angulation. Deep chest and ribs are well back, with the correct topline and good bend of stifle. Well muscled which helped move him beautifully around the ring. 2 Glenvarna Monterey. 13 month old dog. Beautiful head, dark eye and nose and correct ear set. Good angulation fore and aft, and correct topline. Slightly heavier build than 1. Another beautiful mover. 3 Gardner’s Danwish On High (AI)

Y(5,1) 1 Glenvarna Monterey. 2 Heather’s Sixoaks Leading Lady. 20 month old bitch. She is well balanced. Nice head and kind expression. Good angulation and topline. Not as animated on the move as 1. 3 Gardner’s Danwish On High (AI)

PG(4,1) 1 Tully’s Gwendariff Lily the Pink. 3 yr old bitch. Balanced in profile. Beautiful head and kind expression, dark eye and nose and pronounced occiput. Correct neck into well placed shoulders and good topline. Loved her side profile movement. RBOB. 2 Hart’s Gwendariff in the Limelight with Gilliegrae JW ShCM. 2 yr old dog. Pushed 1 hard. Lovely balanced shape and kind expression with good eye. Good front with plenty of bone, correct topline and tail set. Lovely on the move. 3 Walsh, Grant & Cove-Print’s Colourbox Dr Seuss

O(3,1) 1 Corless’s Swiftlark First Knight. 4 yr old dog. Really liked this boy, he has an impressive balanced outline and a super head with a kind expression, correct occiput and lovely dark eye. Correct angulation all through and a gentle sloping topline which he held on the move. Super coat and feathering. Really came into his own on the move with free flowing movement. BOB 2 Walsh, Grant & Cove-Print’s Scotselaw Manhatten Moon over Colourbox. 5 yr old bitch. Bit fidgety on the stand. Beautiful head. Good front and angulation. Not as coordinated on the move as 1.

Italian Spinone

PG(2) 1 Wagh’s Prottino Del Vera by Dewdhala. 2 yr old bitch. Square shape with good oval bone. Correct head planes and lovely long ears. Has good feet and nice front, liked her proportions. Good coarse coat. She was free on the move and maintained her correct topline. 2 Bullivant Payguns Willow Moon. 19 month old bitch. Square in shape. Correct head and planes. Good front angulation with correct upper arm. Has depth throughout. Not as free on the move as 1.

O(4,1) 1 James’s Sh Ch Inostricani Fiorella JW ShCM. Lovely 4 year old bitch of great breed type. Really liked her balanced outline and head with correct divergent planes. Strong square body with correct topline. Her front and rear angulation are balanced and this showed in her super movement. BOB and shortlisted in a great Group. 2 Wagh’s Dewdhala Figlio Di Una Pesca. 8 year old dog who really belies his age. Squarely built strong dog with super bone. Correct head and ear, good proportions throughout. Went really well on the move. RBOB. 3 Walsh, Grant & Cove-Print’s Colourbox Beezer Geezer.

Pointers

J(3,1) Splitting hairs with these two boys, just preferred the more mature body of 1 today. 1 Adams & Scales’s Fisherbloom Re’encountered. 15 month old b/w dog. Has a lovely balanced outline. Correct head proportions, kind expression, pronounced occiput and well defined stop. He has a lovely straight front and good feet and was muscled. Moved well around the ring. 2 Scholes’s Wilchrimane Tea for Two with Rossglide. 15 month old o/w dog. Classic outline and beautiful head and liked his overall proportions. Moved well.

PG(2) 1 Matthews’s Medogold Tartini with Sonham JW ShCM. 21 month old b/w bitch. Really liked this young lady and pushed hard for BOB, who I note is her litter sister, it was very close. Beautiful balanced outline from top to toe. Correct in head with good proportions. Excellent front and feet, angulation was good throughout with a good return of upper arm. Correct topline. Covered the ground well. RBOB. 2 Adams & Scales’s Fisherbloom Re’encountered. 3 Perkins’s Brent Hothouse Flower.

O(5,2) A lovely class to judge. 1 Norbury’s Medogold Bamalam at Heartbury JW ShCM. 21 month old l/w bitch. Have judged her before as a puppy and although still only very young, she is a cracker of a young lady. Beautiful outline, a series of graceful curves that the standard calls for. Correct in head. Good angulation throughout and correct in topline. Lashing tail as she smoothly moved around the ring. BOB and Group 3. 2 Adams’s Millpoint Simply Smashing JW ShCM. 3 yr old b/w dog. Lovely upstanding boy and has good breed type. Very handsome head and kind expression. Super bone and a lovely front. Well ribbed and excellent muscle tone which helped to power him round the ring. Just preferred the outline of 1 today. 3 Perkins’s Ir Sh Ch Kanix Fate of Brent JW ShCM CW15

AVNSC Gundog

J(9,13) What a lovely class of youngters. 1 Tully’s Highclare Oos The Daddy. Brittany. 17 month old bitch. Correct in outline being cobby in appearance and showing good breed type, just loved her. Good head proportions and a lovely alert expression showing off her correct ear set. Good neck, deep chest and short back; and possesses a moderate bend of stifle. Moved well around the ring. Must have a promising future. RBOB. 2 Sladden’s Tyrbechgyn Believe You Will at Canemamans. Bracco Italiano. 10 month old dog. Lovely in outline with good proportions. Has the correct head planes. Has good front angulation with a pleasing return of upper arm. Good bone and well muscled. Moved well with a good open side gait. BP. 3 Cove-Print’s Ladysdale Frilly Ghillie for Colourbox. Gordon Setter.

PG(2,2)

O(4,1) 1 Goode’s Sh Ch Owlspoint King of Trouble at Brackenvale JW ShCM ShCEX. Bracco Italiano. 2 ½ yr old dog. Super example of the breed and a real power of a dog. Square in appearance and has excellent breed type. Beuatiful head with the correct divergent head planes, occiput and median line. He has a straight front and good bone. Has good angulation throughout. He is deep in chest, has well sprung ribs with a short well muscled loin. He just powered round the ring showing correct footfall. BOB and Group 2. 2 Darby’s Sh Ch Brockchime Besta Both to Incadar. Large Munsterlander. 7 ½ year old bitch. She has a balanced outline and a lovely shape. Good head and eye. She made an overall pleasing picture with a good body and well muscled. She was lovely and steady on the move with a free gait. 3 Whitfield’s Glenbrows Heart to Heart. Spaniel (Welsh Springer).

AV Gundog

Veteran (12,3) 1 Braine’s Kennie March to Victory ShCM. GSP. 10 year old dog. Belies his age, he is correct in outline with a short back. Good head proportions. He has good angulation fore and aft and he moved with a smooth action. BV. 2 Wildsmith’s Trimere Time Trail with Sandiebeck ShCM. Spaniel (English Springer). 9 ½ year old dog. Well balanced dog with good breed type and had good boy proportions. In beautiful condition and coat. Moved well around the ring. 3 Gardiner’s Kulawand Time to Treasure with Svenjak ShCM. Retriever (Flat Coated).

Gundog Group

What a fantastic quality group to judge and splitting hairs to shortlist down to 6, also shortlisted were the Italian Spinone and Irish Red and White Setter.

1 Elrington’s Barleyarch Dorito. GSP. Thought she was lovely in outline and posseses the correct short back the breed standard calls for. She has a smooth gait and covered plenty of ground. Still a young bitch but she must have a bright future, thought she was just spot on.

2 Goode’s Sh Ch Owlspoint King of Trouble at Brackenvale JW ShCM ShCEX. Bracco Italiano.

3 Norbury’s Medogold Bamalam at Heartbury JW ShCM. Pointer.

4 Allen & Savell’s Plaiglen All That Jazz with Allenie. Spaniel (English Springer). Lovely constructed boy with super outline and moved very well around the ring.

Gundog Puppy Group

1 Zubair & Trinder’s Thornywait Cassiopeia. Retriever (Golden). Has to be my find of the day, just 6 months old and what a future she must have. Has the most appealing beautiful shape and correct construction, and just wowed on the move.

2 Casey & Cavallo’s Eastriding Sheer Love for Sandicam. Spaniel (English Springer). Another lovely prospect and such a pretty young lady. Loved her for her shape and easy movement.

3 Morris & Randall’s Kalimor Parker. Weimaraner. He has a classic Weimaraner outline and the correct height to length ratio. Was steady on the move.

4 Metcalfe’s Baileydale Ooh Betty. Retriever (Labrador). A lovely balanced bitch who had sound good movement.
